Where's The Photos? How can I Find the Keys without them? Sounds like a cool project. We need Photos!
-
Sorry Nick, I have to agree with Dave, They are at to much of a slant, Look closely at the photo you posted, It has a Slight Slant, Overall though it turned out nice, It needs a different color interior though. Without the sport stickers it would have looked fine, But It seems to clash with the color Combo,As far as worthless, Wait 20-30 years from now, These will go up in value just like most of the other chevy truck promos. Very nice build Nick, You're getting better with every build, They look alot cleaner then some of your past builds, Keep Up the good work.

Found most of this stuff out to Dean's Hobby Stop, The 75 Cutlass was $15, The 2 69 Camaro kits came from Michaels , I used the 50% off coupon for the B/M one and the 40% off for the Z/28, I also ordered a flat hood for that kit to make a mainstreamer out of it. I'll use the hood and spoiler out of it to one the other kit, The B/M Hood is going to be blended into the cowl hood out of the 69 Nova SS kit to make the Fast Track 69 Nova, I still need to get the decals for it from Keith Marks, I found a great refference artical in the last issue of Muscle Car Reveiw , The car was Lemans Blue and White.. I'm also waiting on a Couple 69 Chevelle kits off E-Bay the Countdown version, And the 1982-89 version of it , The one before they fixed the lights, And a Can of 1969 Chevy Glacier Blue from Automotive Touchup . Com, Thats going on the 69 El Camino I started restoring , I owned that for 4 years now. And pulled it out 2 weeks ago .

1/24 Revell '70 Plymouth Superbird
spkgibson replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have owned both of them at one time, Me beins a 1/25 scale snob, I personally like the Jo-Han version better, the details in both kits are terrible, But, The plus side is if you have all the proper parts to fix the issues with the Jo-Han kit, I think that is the better of the 2 even without the vinyl top on the Jo-Han kit, To me, And this is just my oppinion on the Revellogam Superbird kits. As with alot of the other Mopar kits they made in 1/24th , They look cartoonish to my eyes. I just recently sold most of my Monogram 1/24th scale kits in a garage sale for $10 a piece, As I knew I would never build them, The only 1/24 scale kits I like from the series is the 66 Chevelle ,And the 68-69 G.T.O kits. The 70 Mustangs looked pretty good, But the only Mopar kit they got almost correct was the 69 Super Bee, Thats a nice kit. As far as buying a Jo-Han Superbird, you can get them for a decent price, I bought one for $35 from Dean's Hobby Stop last year. -
You're doing one heck of a job on this one, The details look perfect, I also like the "Kilz" idea, Good to know that its safe for styrene , One question, Did you have to use any other primer on the parts? Or just the 'Kilz"? I use alot of Krylon solid light colors , And to me the best way to paint a light color, Is to use white primer. This is coming along great,And I can't wait to see the finished product. Just a suggestion for you, Clear the body parts with the Testors One Coat Lacquer. That stuff works great, I was painting my 66 Nova yesterday, I thought It was to dull and blotchy, But 2 coats of that stuff leveled it right out. I was using the 1966 GM Mist Blue I had mixed up almost 10 years ago. Now the car looks great in my eyes, Plus I didn't run into the issue you had with the 68 Road Runner Hood, I just used the Duplicolor Gray Filler primer, Let it dry, and went over it with a 2400 grit polishing cloth, Then misted on 2 light coats of the color, After about an hour I started adding the heavier coats. , Back to your Cuda, I think the bodywork and details you're putting into this is flawless. Excellent job on this one. As most people miss the key detail , the front rollpan should be done how you did this one. Very impressive job !

1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442------update 12/19/11
spkgibson replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Engine color you're looking for is called "Rame Metallic, It was used from 64-69 on most of the Oldsmobile engines back then, I believe the 64 Cutlass 442 had the 330 Cubic Inch engine,And was painted the color I mentioned above, But the one out of the 66 kit is cosmetically the same on the outside, This is coming along nicely, And your choice in colors sounds perfect for this car. -
Nice color combination, Those wheels set off the car nicely, Very well done clean build.
-
This color is darker the the color ,The color is alot lighter then yours,I was referring to the 1966, I forgot this is a 1967, That color was called Aquamarine,I painted a 67 Impala that color, And it looked perfect on that car, I wish I would have kept that model, One of my friends begged me for it after I had it painted, So I just gave it to him to build, It was almost the same shade as the color I mentioned in my post , By the way, I like that color alot Steve, Please share who makes it, Nice job Space on the pattern change. I'm still watching the progress on this one. That engine photo is of the "Super Jet" 425 Olds engine, 1968 Was the first year for the 455 in these cars, Those were Red.

1972 Pontiac GTO to LeMans conversion?
spkgibson replied to Drake69's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you were to make a 1970, The combinding the 70 Hood with the 72 Body would be a start, But to make any of the years 70-72 Involves alot of scratch building,And kit bashing. I have always wanted to build a 71 Lemans T-37 for along time now, But i'm having the same issue. The front clip is alot of work to convert it to the Lemans, First thing, The vents in the fenders by the doors have to be filled, The hood has to be flattend out, The bodyline added down the center, And the almost 95% of the front has to be scratch built, The front bumper could be done by using the Revell/Monogram 70 Trans Am rear bumper as a start, But that to would have to be modified alot. This would take Alot of work, But if done correctly would be a great conversion to cast,Or have cast by someone. Give it a try, If it doesn't turn out. Or does, I'm sure you would learn somthing new atleast to help you in the future on scratch building. -
I stand corrected on the engine color for it, Here is a good refference photo for you.

I owned this kit at one time, It's a very nice detailed kit from that era, Now the Toronado kits were made in 1966 and 67 by Johan,And MPC, The 67 I'm not to sure about Johan, The 68's were made by MPC And AMT, I had both versions at one time, The MPC 68 Rear bumper looked wrong to me, The AMT was spot on,As it was actually a Johan mold, In 69 Johan was the only one that made year, In 1970 AMT Made the Toronado, Later to be reissued by Johan in the USA Oldies series, Johan and AMT shared the molds for aloy of the 1970 Production year, The AMX,442,And Toronado were actually Johan molds, I may have missed afew others , In 1971 and 72 The Toronado kits were Johan kits. So the Johan/Amt Toronado kits were Spot on, The MPC Kits looked simaler, But the 1968 Toronado rear bumper was alittle off, To be fully accurate replace that part with the Johan/AMT part, And it fixed the problem, But all of the Toronado,And Eldorado kits From all 3 Companys in the 60's and 70's were excellent kits, And had higly detailed engine compartments at the time they were made. I'll be watching this one for sure,I personally would paint this car "Ocean Mist" With a matching interior, That is the same color as Artisian Turquoise, I think you can still find that color online on E-BAY, Or Model Empire, I found 2 Cans of the testors Fathom Green on ebay ,So that paint is still out there, Thats just a suggestion on the color Space. But that would be different , You see alot of these done in your basic Reds,Black,And the Light Metallic Golds,The proper name for the light metallic gold is, Sandalwood Gold Metallic. But any color would look great on this car. Just so you know, the engine in this car isn't red, I believe they were gold, Or a Color called "Rame" Metallic, That is a reddish bronze color. I'm waiting to see the progress ,And will be watching this one closely.

To answer your question about Fathom Green, Yes it was, It also was one of the color choices for all of the Yenco Cars in 69, The Camaro came in 6 Color choices if it was a Yenco, According to my reference, That is one VERY nice display of Camaros, And the workmanship is top notch. Very impressive!

I hate it when that happens, I was out of Hemi Orange on a chrysler build, And basically did the same thing, I had a Chrysler engine blue Hemi. I looked kind of cool I thought. Did you have any issues with your plating on your kit? I had alot of issues with the first one I bought, The last 2 of these kits I bought the bodys were twisted so badly I had to order new ones from Revell. Anyways Once again nice build. How close is that Green for the match of the 1972 Nova you discribed? I have an old original AMT 72 Molded in white I'd like to do this color. That kit I just mentioned does not have the issues of the newer ones , It's almost as nice a mold as the revell kit. Aside from the seperate fenders and such. Keep up the good work, You nailed the details perfect. The chassis look great! As doe's the rest of the car.
-
Very Nicely Done, But Chevy engines are Orange, Other then that nice build, I like that Green on it.
-
100% Correct, Unibody cars DID NOT HAVE BLACK FRAME RAILS,PERIOD! Only Full frame cars did. Chryslers were all Primer with The color Oversprayed on them, Only GM,And Ford Motor Company had Black Subframes,But that depends on the years of car also ,Research the heck out of the subject you're going to start, Before even thinking about painting anything.
-
I want to see more of the ElCamino , How in the world did you make that? Great Craftmanship my friend.
-
That has to be one of the best show of craftmenship I have ever seen. That looks almost Like something Juha Ario would do , Simply Amazing work. And the time frame ,45 Days? You're kidding right?

WOW, Very cool. Your Prostocks and Super Stock builds always amaze me, Excellent job on this one.

'71 Charger Base Hardtop from: '77 movie Speedtrap
spkgibson replied to Nick Winter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks very Nice, Now Nick, Thats a Unibody car, That black on the rear portion of the Chassis needs to be red where you have the black, That was only on the 'K'Frame on the Chassis, And a few other parts ,The rest should be painted with the overspray on it, No black like you have picked out on the rear, Oh and that hood turned out great, As did the rest of your body mods, I am VERY impressed with how your skills are progressing. Very cool looking car.
