On my birthday, My wife bought me 4 of the C.O.P.O '69 Novas , 2 Cans of Duplicolor filler primer, A can of Hamsted Green, Perfect match for the 1968 Grecian Green GM Used that year, And a can of Bahama Blue, Close match to the Lemans Blue of the same vintage, I already have one of the '69 Novas coverted to the 1968 Pontiac Acadian, I painted it the green, All I have left to do on that is Bare Metal the trim, And add the photoetch emblems, All I had left from that photoetch set was the Acadian emblems from an earlier build based on the AMT Kit that was broke during my move, I don't have anything else , I have been looking for the Chevy II emblem from that 68-69 Model Car Garage set to make a 68 Nova, All I need is the hood trim badge that says Chevy II ,And the trunk emblem. If anyone has a spare that they are not going to use, I sure could use those to make a 68. Send me a PM If you have these .

Beautiful job, You could have saved alot of time converting the back to a 70 though, I would have used the bezels from the AMT 72 kit, and cut off the 68-69 style ones off the bumper, And trimmed the filler panel between the taillights to fit the AMT bezels in , Plus you would have already had the correct taillights by doing it that way, Also, There is no line where the filler panel and the body meets, That should be all one piece, with the slight character line in that area.At a slight slant, Same with the corners of the top of the quarter panels just above the rear bumper. I made the mistake of not doing so after I painted 3 of these kits. Very nice build of a rare car, And I hope these tips help you out on the next 68-72 Nova you build. I love the color and the detail you put into this Nova. Very Nice!

This type of stuff makes you think about how unpredictable things can be. I just watched the weather channel today to see whats up now in the country, They brought the Joplin Toronado up, And before it happened it had a 4 out of 10 chance on the TOR-CON scale of happening, This Tornado surpassed the Beecher Toronado from 1953, That one was also the system that brought the Worchester one on June 9th of that year. I have been having nightmares since I watched it live on TWC On Sunday. Now if we go under a watch,Of any kind, My wife and I are getting the the car and heading to my parents house, We have no basement in our condo. And It freaked me out so bad, I woke up monday shaking,I live no where even near there, I cannot even imagine that horror those people went through. My hearts go out to all of the familys of all of the Toronadoes that has hit in the past month, And I plan on donating some money to help out on rebuilding peoples lives. And to all of you on here from that state , I am thankfull you are alright.

DENCON - No longer taking website orders
spkgibson replied to Drake69's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I agree with you on this one, Now back to the Dencon Resin part, I had to wait awhile for 2 69 Charger 500 hoods, Well when they got to my home, I opened the box up, And the hoods shrunk, And were totally useless. I wanted to order one of those 69 Malibu wagons, But I don't even know if I am allowed to purchase from the company anymore, Because of the same reason your having, Long delays .And I brought it up on here also in another thread. -
Excellent Build, But that grill is the 70-72 Style pattern, Not the 68-69 Style. I noticed that when I opened the new COPO Nova, I hope these grills are still available, As I have plans to make a couple 70-72 base models out of those new kits. Great Build, My 79 I owned when I was 16 had the 250 inline 6 in it , Untill my brother and I put a Buick 350 in it out of a 70 LeSabre , That car was a blast.

Nice builds, What paint did you use on the corvair? I have been looking for that color for one of my 69 Novas. I really like that shade .
-
And for the Clear I used it was, The Testors One Coat Lauquer.
-
I have to agree on this one. Also if you want that exact color, You can get it at www.automotivetouchup.com , It's a base coat clear coat paint, I just bought the color ,And used it on my 72 Demon . The color has 2 different names, Basin Street Blue , For Plymouth, And Super Blue for the Dodge. Here is the color on my Demon I need to get finished. Just to show you as an example. These photos are in the direct sunlight, So that is the true color. This Cuda is going to look great in that color.

Looking good so far, I love watching these old MPC Glue bombs being rebuilt.

Great Tip, Future seems to be the way to go now. I wouldn't suggest spraying hot Automotive Lacquers over enamel paints though ,Unless the Future completely seals it, I have yet to try this method myself . That paint job looks great, Black is a very hard color to get right, You nailed it.

Back when I made one of these about 7 years ago, I had a hard time finding the photos of the real thing, I noticed the wheels on the car are from the 71-72 style Novas, I'll be doing one of these in scale soon. The one I made out of the AMT kit got broke when I was moving. I personally like the grill and taillight panel emblems on this car, If this was an "SS" It would only have it in the grill, for 1968 and 1969,1970 Was the first year for the "SS" In the back also, Like the US Novas.

This is the car, I think it's Painted , Island Teal, Or Grotto Blue, This would be a great project to use the C.O.P.O Nova for. Model Car Garage has all of the correct emblems on the 1968-69 Photo Etch Set, I tried them on the Revell kits, And they fit better on that one then the old AMT kit, On to the photos.

Cool build Chuck, My dad owned the 61 Savoy back in the mid 60's. That car looked worse then the styling on the Fury, Cool Car, I have to ask, Where you got the resin kit from? Tell me it's not from our favorite place to go here . Whats the name of that hobby shop?

The Chrome center piece was indeed an option on all of the Coronet models back in 70'. Including the deluxe el-cheapo versions, I personally think they look better with the chrome ,Not the body color center piece. Nice build. But if you wanted to add that detail, The best way to mask the bumper is to use BMF to get a clean edge ,Tape just won't cut it.

'79 Buick Skyhawk Resin Kit?
spkgibson replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Glad I could help, Those Cavalier kits are cheap to find, The promos are even cheaper for some reason. There was a 82 and 83 kit, The 82 is molded in red, And the 83 in Light Blue. Contact Model Empire they have them both. You can find the Phone Number on there website. -
I would like to make a public apology to everyone that read the thread that was deleted. I feel I was in the wrong. Thanks , And have a Nice day. Steve K

'79 Buick Skyhawk Resin Kit?
spkgibson replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Just take one of those Monza kits by MPC,And the The Headlights can be found in the 82 and 83 Cavalier kits, The grill , However Will need to be scratch built. You may even be able to use the last mentioned kit as a starter point for the grill. -

History Being Made

Be safe , I was only a year old back when that happened, But I have heard the stories from my parents, And also back in 1953 On June 8th, There was an F-5 That leveled the Beecher District of the Flint area, I was born 20 years later on the same day. That was the worst storm to ever hit Michigan. A close second was one that hit in 1956, That was an F-4, All I have to say is take these warnings seriously, I feel very sorry for all of those people in the south that lost everything, Kinda makes you think about life sometimes.
