What kit is this 73 Barracuda Body From?
spkgibson replied to spkgibson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ok thanks for the tip, But at this time the only way I could get the bumpers would be to trade for something, Or just put on the 73-74 Style bumpers. But I do want to get started on it though, I have 6 of these on my bench ,The 70,71,72,73 and 2 74's. That hood I have on it was cut from the snap kit body, But I would like to make the factory stock build out of it, All I'm missing is the bumpers, The Jo-han Bumpers work perfect,But I only have the one , And I need those for that car, I would even take a warped set of them, Just so I could finish the car without having to spend alot of money on them, I have to build on a budget right now, The winter killed my modeling funds over the winter, I was lucky to get the stuff I have, I payed $16 for this car. And my wife bought the 70 for me, The rest of the cuda stuff I traded for. -
Ok i'll look up those colors , And by request I will paint it an uncommon color.

What kit is this 73 Barracuda Body From?

Does anyone have an extra set? I have everything else, To make a factory stock out of it. -
I have just a little update on this build, Last night I put the car in the weasleys bleach white, To get the mold release off, I was going to try and have it in primer by sunday, But It's snowing here again, That gives me more time to prep the car for it, Like I said, This will be a long project, I am looking for ideas on paint colors ,And engine options, I'm thinking a 318 Small Block. Any suggestions on colors would be considered to best suit the car. Thanks for looking , and thanks for the comments on it. I would also like to thank Caine 440 For the Chassis, gpugh 1976 for the interior parts , And the Most important Don from Reliable Resin. With out all of you guys, I wouldn't be able to build one of my holy grails , So a BIG thank you to all three of you .

I know i'll be using the steering wheel for sure. And maybe the front suspension , I already have the Correct 70 Interior mocked up, It was made from , The Sox & Martin prostock interior, The rear seat was cut down from and extra resin 71 Duster interior bucket, And the front seats from the AMT 71 Duster kit, I researched the real car, And the Gran Coupe had the same patterns on the seats. I also cut the console out of a 74 Road Runner interior tub, I'll post photos of it soon, I also just noticed that the front bumper and grill unit has the clear headlights ,Not the 41 year old molded in ones that were in the original MPC kit, That is a really nice touch.

Well it's made by Reliable Resin, I ordered it on the 10th of this month, And had it yesterday. Thats a great turn around time if you ask me!

Just wondering, Does your friends car have the vent windows on the doors? I can't wait to see some color on this.

I just received this yesterday in the mail. Very Nice Clean casting, I'll be taking my time on this build, I need to come up with a plan as to how i'll be building it, It will be Factory Stock . I will be making it as a mainstreamer though. Here are the photos of the mock up, Oh when I did get open up the box yesterday the caster included both of the roll pans for the rear. One for the Small Block,And the one for the Big Block. This is a very nice casting and would recommend it to anyone that wants to build an MPC 70 Barracuda Model. At a third of the cost of an original kit.

She will be in mine also.

What kit is this 73 Barracuda Body From?
spkgibson replied to spkgibson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Really? How cool is that. What bumpers went on that car the 71-72 Style, Or the 73-74 style, I've never seen the unbuilt kit before in person. -
I recently won this off E-bay. It came with the gutted interior ,But a Stock chassis. What was left of the previous window unit said 1973 Barracuda. I know its aa MPC kit, But wondering which one. I'm in the process of getting ready to restore it, But, I would like to know kit it was at one time, And on the rear quarter panels, It has Barracuda Emblems, And the headlight are sunk in, Not like the snap kit body, Here are the photos of the car mocked up with other parts I recently got.

Go read the the rules of conduct on here and you will understand how things a supposed to be around here.I hope this helps for people to understand the rules. -
I just read though a certain post that was just locked, First off isn't very nice for anyone on here to try and kill someones character, Doing so could cost people sales and jeapordize there business,Secondly there is laws out there that are in place about cyber bullying, or harassment. You could be sued. or worse, read the news paper, or watch the news sometime. Knock it off.

I got this in a trade, It is complete, But I need to find replacement bumpers for it, I have everything for the car, Minus the front bumper, And the rear bumper was has some glue damage at the bottom, So I'm looking for the bumpers from one of the Jo-Han/Testors 71 Cuda kits. I still have the shaker hood, And Shaker ,But That part was glued to the bottom of the hood, so it needs to be reworked. Here is the after photos ,I Removed all the paint, And started on the body work.

Can I make a suggestion? Cut the turn signals out of the kit bumper, Clean them up, And mount them to the Modelhaus bumper. Just Bare Metal the sides of the lights after you cut them out and clean them up, I can't remmember if they were Clear or Amber, I don't have my book by me right now, I personally would do that, I cover the entire light with BMF then, If they are clear, I thin down the Testors Clear Parts cement with water, And flow it into the recessed area, And when it drys, It looks like a clear lense, I thin the glue to the consistancy of milk, Then I flow it on heavy one time only, When dry you have the clear lense. The back of that car looks ALOT better with that Modelhaus bumper and taillight unit. The kit bumper and taillights ruin the whole look of the car in the back. I wish they would have reissued that kit with the correct bumper you have way back when the first reissue was produced in the 1970's CountDown series of kits. Also before you get to far on the Chassis, Make sure you file down the front area where the interior meets the chassis at the rear,The Chassis is the part you need to file down,In the front of the rear wheelwells at the same angle as how they are molded, Or it will sit with all the wheels moved back,Not centered like they should be.I have built this kit about 10 times so far, And after the third one I did that, And it made a big difference in how well the wheels sat inside the wheelwells. Hope this helps.

I totally missed that post about the tire decals. Brain Cramps.

the retail place to find all Cady decals is Model Empire, They have 3 or 4 pages of them in there catalog, You can find them on wwww.rocketfin.com , The prices are way lower then e-bay prices. I would look them up there, Get there phone number and call and place an order. Thats how I buy all my Cady decals, The prices are around $7 a sheet. They do have the ones for both the 1970, And the 1971 Cudas, Another person that makes the 70 Decals is Keith Marks, He also can be found on Rocetfin. Leave a comment on his Fotki page with your e-mail, And he will get back with you with all the information to order. I personally would get his decals, As they are much more detailed, Don't buy them off of e-bay, You will spend a fortune on them, That happened to me when I was bidding on the Dirty Mary ,Crazy Larry decals for my MPC 69 Charger Annual, I ended up spending $20 plus shipping for them, Contact him directly, If that is the decals you want to use. Also Duplicolor makes a Metallic Black in the touch up paint line, The metalflake is more to scale also. Hope this helps.

does anyone know what engine this is?
spkgibson replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is just the 340 with the Viper intake added, I had both of the Duster kits when they came out ,And when I seen this one,I bought 3 of them just for the engine, But, It is just the 340, I actually used the block out of this kit, Added the stock 340 parts from one of the other Duster kit, And they fit right on with no mods at all. That kit has a very nice set of Viper wheels, But the engine is just a cobbled up 340. -
That is one heck of a nice paint job, You nailed it. 71 Challenger? Thats another one to put on my list of kits to get.I seen this over in underglass. Excellent job.

Did you happen to notice who made the master for that car? Alot of work in that one believe it or not, Getting that header panel to fit was a pain. Keep me posted when you start on it, I have been messing with one of mine also, I had to put it away and start on something else.
