  1. No we don't have to. I'll just keep my thoughts to myself from now on. Thats all.
  2. Very good points, But if a few suggestions about how to have better builds offends people? I am far from the perfect model builder. My outlook on this topic is to give alittle advice is all, And stop putting Contest quality builds in the same class with the others, Thats like saying to everyone, Well I just finished my model and want all positive comments on it, While the Contest Quality Model gets shoved down the line. I can say one thing , Go look at my Build I did for myself, It took me 2 months to build, And it is way down the line in underglass, While certain people on here take up space commenting on what I call speed builds, I'll be the first one to tell you I think my build is Junk! I just started this thread to see what kind of reaction I would get, Be open minded if you wish , Its a hobby we all love to do .
  3. I have in the past had people suggest a little detail to put on the 77 Monaco, I built,And it made the car look alot better,I put the Lean Burn System on the air cleaner, Aside from the flaws in the kit chassis it made it look alot better, I have always thought of ways to make my models better . And I'm still learning , So by no means do I personally think I'm the best at what I do, I just see alot of things that go with building good models , Take your time and enjoy what you do, And if a project is to involved, And above your skill level Put it away for a while ,Then go back to it after you have a plan of how you can do it right. I'll go to the extremes of if someone needs help on a project that they cant figure out how to do, All they have to do is send me a PM and I'll help them to the best of my abilitys.
  4. I have been on this forum for well over a year and a half, And I have seen alot of beautifully built and detailed models,And alot of not so nicely built one, Ok my point is ,if say for example builder A , Builds a contest winning model or close to it , And builder B builds a model that looks just terrible , And they both get the same comments, Like excellent build or Nice paint ect ect, Well the point i'm getting at is if builder A's Model is by far better then Builder B's model let them know it politely ,So they can develop better modeling skills, Saying a poorly built model looks great or nice isn't helping that person out at all, It in fact is harming them, Not giving them the chance to Better there skills, I see it all the time on here , We are all great builders in our own right, But if we continue to get comments on builds that aren't that nice, Then how can anyone learn from mistakes, I still mess up ,And I have been building models from the age of 5 (snap kits) and 7 for glue kits, I just can't understand how the 2 I mentioned above can be put in the same class, I'm not slamming ANYONE on here I'm just voicing my oppinion thats all, Be alittle more thick skinned and learn from your mistakes, And if a model looks bad suggest to the builder how to better there skills, You can put as much work into a model as you want,Body work , foiling , Detailing, I could go on about it, But if the final result looks bad then It was alot of time and effort wasted on it ,In my oppinion, I have messed up so many models in the past by doing what I call speed builds , But I learned from my mistakes , So be truthful with your comments to help out the younger builders out there to help them, And by no means ,Please don't be nasty with your comments, Us older builders are the mentors for the younger generation .
  5. For dark Colors I use gray for Blues and Greens,And Red Oxide for reds and earth tones like dark browns and everything in between, I would have gone with the gray, Now the Tamiya white works great for painting light colors like yellows, Tans and pale blues and greens also,I have found out that most of the time you can use the tamiya paints over bare plastic. I do it all the time,And have had only one issue where the kit was molded in the AMT Gray, And I tested a yellow they make,Well it wouldn't cover it after 5 mist coats,But that green you used I painted a 47 Crosley the same color and used Duplicolor sandable primer first, And had no issues. Just remmember white for you Light solid colors, Gray for you Metallics and darker colors, And the Red Oxide for your really dark colors and browns and blacks and other various dark colors. I hope this helps .
  6. Ok I'll be placing an order very soon around the begining of the year
  7. I'll have to go look and see, I know Cady made the Rod Shop ones that could be used for the Demon.I'm pretty sure he never made the Carlton Demon ones, He made the ones for the Black Dusters , I think. The car I'm wanting to build is Light Metallic Blue with the Black sides ,Kind of like the Akron Arlen Duster paint scheme was.
  8. I love the wheels,I'll be sending you an order for afew sets in around Feburary,Maybe 10 sets I just need you to tell me what style is the correct ones for the 77-78 Monaco kits, The ones in the kit are useless.
  9. I got these on friday,The Fury is from E-Bay, If your looking for the grill to convert the DOH police car into a Fury,These older Yodel kits come with both grills, So you can swipe the Fury one out and still build it as a Monaco, The other came from Deans Hobby Stop out here by me ,$42 factory sealed ,And mint.
  10. Scale Coat will take it right off, It's sold in th model train section at most hobby shops, And costs around $10-$11 here is a pic of the bottle.
  11. Hey Chris,I have about as many 71-72 Demons as you have these Road Runners,Mostly resin kits ,But I do have 2 of the mint 71 kits, I Love the wheel idea, I'll have to use those on a 72 duster I have, nice build.
  12. Does anyone know if those decals are made,I have a 72 Demon I have been wanting to make like the one he raced, And also what is the best match for the Blue on the Police car ?
  13. Thats a cool looking model Mike, It turned out great!
  14. How come you guys are so lucky to get test shots of these kits, I want one to! Lets see some photos ART!
  15. Looks like a great project,Now if only they would make the 1/25th scale vans again,Cool Project Mike.
  16. This is what inspires me to see people fighting back from illness's , And doing the things we all love to do, Very glad your on your way to recovery,And the model is looking good also.
  17. An easier way to do this, Is very simple sand the hood flat,Just leaving the emblem in the front, And Just add your filler part, Now the trick to doing this is heat up some kit sprue, and stretch it to the thickness you need, And just attach it to the hood with liquid cement,That will give you your bodyline back down the center of you hood, Then using you finger, Add you putty ,making sure you overlap your filler piece. I always use a rubber sanding block to do these types of mods on hoods and other bodywork , Using one of those will blend your bodywork alot better, plus you wont have any flat spots in your body work, Hope this helps.
  18. How did you make the wheel covers? They look great, Nice job on this build
  19. Here are the photos of the box art for both the Cougar,And the Ventura.
  20. That 69 Cougar is made by AMT, I have the same one mint in the box, It was made around 1982 or 83, When Matchbox owned AMT,The stock number on the box is PK-4169, That is the last issue of that kit before they made the eleminator in the early 90's The one you have would be great for a factory stock build, Just grab the hood from one of the newer issues of the kit, and find a 390 to put in there, And you can use the hood from the one you have in the photo ,That way you already have the hood cut out for the eleminator version, Nice Finds, I like the Ventura,And the Cougar
  21. So basically the only rare thing about this kit is the box art, The parts in this kit are indeed crisp, no flash on anything, And the color is molded in black, the decals would have been almost mine if one of them wouldn't have been cut from the decal sheet, And that windshield that is the only issues with the kit.
  22. Ok thanks, As soon as I can find the decals to make one, I'll get started on it, And if your looking for a 77-78 Monaco 2 door kit, Model Empire has the 77 for $49 plus shipping which is $7 they are both the same cars .
  23. I was recently giving this kit, I have no idea how rare it is and what it's worth, I'm not really that interested in the kit, And was thinking about trading it off for something I am into, Any help you can give would be great,The kit is almost complete, But some of the 427 parts are missing, And the windshield has some glue on it that could be polished out,Ok well here is the photos of it.
