Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - They're Finished
spkgibson replied to Len Carsner's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Those Crager wheels look like the ones found in the pro modeler 70 Torino GT,I could be wrong,But they have the detailed center cap as well -
As far as the Lincoln,Please Do it another color than black,A nice Deep Metallic Blue with a White top would look great on it,The black is just to cliche,Everone paints those particular cars Black With a Red interior,It's just a suggestion for you!Nice score by the way!

Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
spkgibson replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'll make sure I order atleast 3 of these, one to finish my 68 plain jane Dart,And the other two to make a GTS and the HEMI Dart, this is going to be a great edition to my A-Body collection! Now if they will do the 1970 ,Hint Hint,As you guys get to build the samples!Unfair! -
Brush Painted? If you say so!You did one heck of a job at it!

nice score,I wish Bandit Resins still made the conversion kit of this car,I won't ask how much,I bid on a MPC 71 Demon kit alittle over a year ago, when I had alot of money,Bid $250 for it,And ended up paying $202 plus shipping,I opened up the box and it was half built poorly,So I carefully took it apart, switched the mint box it was in to the ratty box one of my mint ones was in,And ended up selling it for $150 free shipping,I wish I would have kept it,but I already had 2 mint kits,Plus I needed to help my now wife out to move here from Wisconsin,So losing $50 was worth it!

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
spkgibson replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Lacquer Thinner?Don't ever use that on plastic,Period,You might as well just soak you parts in liquid cement,I use a product called Scale Coat,It works great on stripping ANY type of paint,Here is an example! Before and After. -

That is beautiful,The colors really set off the lines of the car! -
I have a MINT unbuilt kit of this car,I personally think it has nice detail,As far as painting one of those "plum crazy"It wasn't offered in 1972,71 was the last year,By the way,I have about as many 71-72 Demons as you do the Road Runners,Including 2 mint unbuilt kits of the 71 Demon,6 Bandit Resin 71's 3 afx 72's and 2 afx 71's,Nice stash you hace there!

Painting on the sprue
spkgibson replied to MILD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So the best way I have found to paint everything in a model kit is to assemble every thing that is going to be painted the same colors,Engines,Suspension parts, seats, ect, grab your self a box of toothpicks,And Q-Tips,cut the cotton off them, insert the toothpick into the end,and then into a peice of styrofoam, after you attach say an engine with the toothpick cut at the end to push up snug into the trans,Or where the fanbelt is glued and paint away,My cost for this method is around $5.00,As far as bigger parts like body panels, velances,Chassis's on MOPARS,Or anything Just tape it to a Paint stir stick,The ones from paint supply stores,At the back of the chassis and you good to go,You don't have to go broke spending alot of money on clamps, stands and such I have used this mehod for years and have yet to have an issue! -

I have to agree,Yes the General Lee kit was,And is still a big seller,But it has been reissed way to many times,If they would scan a mint 69 annual body to fix the mess that is in the box now,I p I personally think they would have alot more buyers for the kit,But thats a pipe dream there Any ways that is a great idea about the DMCL Charger,I would buy them just for the slotted wheels,DOH,Give it a rest!Make that kit back into the nascar Daytona Or 500!

spkgibson replied to FordWagonNut's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That is one beautiful kit,Kevin's Stuff From Missing Link,And Jeff's Stuff from Motor City Resin,Are TOP NOTCH,I have to say they are the best in the business as we speak,They Both rate up there with The Modelhaus,At times I have to say they are even better at times!Get Kevin's 71 Galaxie,It is just as nice,As are Jeff's 70-72 Torino kits,I have every single one,tey are great kits! -
I wish someone would repop the MPC Charger 68-70 Annuals,Especially the 69 for us that like the MPC kits Yes the Revell kit is great,But compared to the MPC bodys they are compleatly inaccurate,That front Bumper in the 68 and 69 kits bugs me the most,It looks out of scale compared to the rest of the kit,Just my oppinion!
-
My oppinion They need to make the "dirty mary, crazy larry version of the car out of this, they have reissued the GL 6 times since 1979,And have never made this kit,Also the best MPC/AMT GL kit with the 500/Daytona rear window to make those cars out of is the 1997 version of that kit,as it is the same as both of those kits,Minus the correct parts,Just use the daytona parts on the GL body, and and for the 500 use the 500 grill and hood,or modify the revell 68/69 charger hood by adding a strip of evergreen to the back, and narrowing the sides of the hood to fit,And use the aftermarket repop of the 500 grill.

Nice score,I have the 72 Road Runner annual,It's a nice kit for being 38 years old!,By the way,Missing Link just brought out the base correct Satellite Sebring hoods that can be used for both years, these are for the 1/25th scale MPC kits!

You Pictures aren't showing my friend,I'd love to see this one!

Hi Art,Do you have any idea when those kits come out,the Hudson and the 55 300 ,How much they will cost and what hobby shops will carry them?I'm not to much into early 50's cars,But those two struck an interest with me,I always wanted the 55 300 as I'm a MOPAR nut! Also the Hudson being the beginings of what we all know now as the now defunct American Motors Corparation!Keep us posted my friend,I'll be getting atleast one of each when they come out!As these have been on my want list forever! Now if they would do a 70 300!
-
Here is how I make them,I take a peice of BMF,Fold it over so it sticks together,Tape it to the body I use to take the emblem off,Burnish it down,It is thinner than household foil, and show the detail better,Then I mix Baby Powder and Super glue,Then I take a toothpick load it up with mixture, and fill in the recess, and after 10-15 Minutes you can cut them out the same way as was stated in the last post,This to me is alot faster,And cheaper,And somtimes if you lucky the BMF will come off the part,This is great for Marker lights when that happens, all you have to do is paint them clear amber and clear red,and you have realistic looking maker lights,I tryed the other method, and you have to make sure the epoxy is very thin,or your part will break,My method you don't have to worry about that,Hope this helps!

Very creative,Now the question I have for you,Is the Body Brush Painted? If so I would like to know how you got the paint so smooth,This car is so ugly it's beautiful,And fun to look at!
