Plasticoat T-235 Primer
spkgibson replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The best primer ,In my opinion is,the Dupli Color Primer sealer,it works great for body work, and doesn't build up,I use it right out of the can,I use it for all my body work, and after around a few days of dry time, you can paint your color coats on,with no worries about your body work showing through,The number on it is DAP 1699,It comes in Gray,Black and Red Oxide, the average cost is around $5-$7 depending on where you get it,mainly auto part stores...........and the tamiya white is compatable with it also,This stuff works great!..................Steve Ketterer -
A Chrome plated resin 77-78 Fury Grill,For the DOH police car,and to make a 2-door out of the 77-78 Monaco annuals, and the Force 440 Kit,I'll convert the rear to the Fury on the 2-door,Make it a conversion kit,all that would have to be done,as far as casting, would be the body, hood, grill and rear bumper and taillights, the rest could come from the DOH kit with a few mods to the interior, just file down the tops of the front doors on the 4-door interior, and it drops right in the 2 door body!Or just the grill,SOMEONE,We need this done finally!how many of you want to vote on making the grill?.............Steve Ketterer
-
Very Nice Links,Thanks for Sharing them,I REALLY like the First Monaco,I wish you could still get the test shots,As I collect Dodge Monaco kits!.............Steve Ketterer
-
Use the amt 75 duster(dart)for your interior,it has the same pattern, you MAY have to tweek it alittle to fit the 71 Chassis,But it will work,i'm working on a 72 Demon right know, and that's how i'm doing mine!.................Steve Ketterer

Jeff's Kits are top notch and the turn around is great,No worries ordering from him,I have all the 70 Torinos, the 72 Torino,Ranchero and wagon,Very nice kits!...................Steve Ketterer

I see the point of it,It just agravates the heck out of me,That there is so many other tools in the archives, that are just sitting there begging to be reissued,I'll shut up now!............... Maybe I'll get one just for an investment!.........So when you guys build yours and can't find one,I'll have one for the taking.........Just Kidding guys!Steve Ketterer
-
Thats exactly what I do,Restore old kits ,By chance if I see something NEW of interest,I'll purchase a few ,Now if this was the 68 Hemi dart done like this kit, that would be a great kit!
-
Ok well as far as historical value of the kits, well it's now 2010,not 1960 or whenever these kits were produced,Instead of WASTING the money to reissue this kit,Well they could have cleaned up some of the molds of significant REAL cars that are more disireable then this ,by far I would have rather seen some of the late 60's and 70's Mopars, and Funny cars of that era reissued, thats just my oppinion,Kudos to those who have bought a few of them,My oppinion,The hobby is becoming extremely boring with stuff that is reissued to extremes,But oh well that is just me...........I'll spend my money on something rare........that isn't an over priced kit that will flop in 6 months!.......I myself am an advid collector and builder...these to me are worth about $20 to me,thats it!
-
$35 to $50 for these? The kit looks nice, but thats way to much to pay for the tin, just my oppinion guys,I like the tires they look fairly nice, aside from the offset...................The rest well..........If the parts mentioned were not messed up,then I could see purchasing one,Quality control at Round 2 needs to step up abit!Myself I can't see spending that kind of money for it,Unless your a serious collector...............Steve Ketterer

71 Delta 88 Kit Pics (Photos Restored)
spkgibson replied to David G.'s topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hmmm and to think if I would have kept this kit, which I had built up and painted nice,NOONE would have had this kit, unless they had the long gone AAM one,I made the BIG mistake selling this one,my 67 Polara and 70 300 to him,Wanna here what I got after he was done with them?NOTTA..................I'll never do that again!I refuse to rebuy something that I should have got one of,They are making a killing off all 3 of those kits................he ruined the car anyways, the ORIGINAL chassis was made up of a combination of the 69 olds 442,and the 70 impala, stretched to the right wheelbase, this one is a BLOB of resin,so I have a sour spot when it comes to seeing these kits,he took me to make a mint off those cars...............Steve -
Slap it in some scale cote, find you a 80's issue 71 Road Runner, and redo that sucker, that was a great find there,an original MPC GTX!,I'd love to find that kit!

Oh and we can't forget the 70's and early 80's mpc nascar kits,2 peice chassis?and the same engine block, with just different heads for the Dodge,Chevy and Ford engines?thats just plain silly,Now if they would have made them the way Monogram made them when they first came out in the early 80's,there would have been some real winners, and in my oppinion, they should have made the factory stock versions of the 73-75 Laguna S3,that kit would have sold like crazy....I'm not to much of a Chevy person,But i've always liked those cars............Steve Ketterer
-
How can we for get the MPC/AMT/MODELKING LA DART,The body in that kit is just awfull, the front end is way to long and the grill is horrible,to make a factory stock version 70 you pretty much have to rework the entire front of the car,and the rest of the body for that matter, looking at the box art,and whats inside is very disappointing, another overpriced peice of junk..............Steve Ketterer

There has been a discussion, and If you have any of the MPC late 70's ford vans, the unplated stock wheels in those kits are the same for the Comet GT,but it is only the MPC kits, the AMT kits have the full wheel covers in some of them, used also in the full size cars,I used to have the "SUN RUNNER"79 Ford van by MPC,it was molded in Yellow ,and it had the wheels everyones looking for for the Comet GT.............hope this helps.........................Steve Ketterer

thank you for setting the record straight, some people just want to nit pick everything,it's a model car guys..........geeze,and you are TOTALLY right I watched the serie's from 1979,when it came out, till 1985 when it ended, and That 73-74 Road Runner didn't have the bird on it at all,in fact, they had to remove the FORD emblems off uncle jesse's truck, caues they didn't have the rights! -

That was a custom strip job made to fool people that didn't know to much about cars back then, thats NOT even a 73-74 style stripe, just painted to look like one, personally I thought the 71 AND 72 Satelite's on the dukes series looked cool, aside from the wagon wheels?what were they thinking, and yes they used 71 AND 72's before they got the Jeep provided by AMC,It was in the closing credets later on in the series!
