  1. AMT/Ertl did the '96 Tahoe 4-door as a promo and a Snap kit- they come up for sale online quite a bit, and the price usually isn't bad. There is a resin caster making a '81-91 style Suburban, but I don't remember who.
  2. There will ALWAYS be a market for wretched excess, so you are going to see supercars with higher top speeds and ungoldy horepower/torque ratings. There's always going to be that 'mine's bigger/faster/more powerful/etc. than yours' group craving that. Never mind the fact the car will never be used to even a small percentage of its potential- some guys just want to be the baddest on the block. As far as seeing supercars built and intended as strictly race-only, I don't know if that willl happen on a huge scale. You might see some with opition packages which are racing-oriented (in fact, there already are a handful of cars that can be equipped that way) but it won't be the main intent of the vehicle when it's being designed. I think it might go the other way though- you might see more reasonably-equipped (for day-to-day use) cars being introduced, and more performance-oriented versions of existing car lines. Who knows- maybe we've already reached the pinnacle of supercar performance as far as horsepower and top speed go, and they'll focus more on handling and day-to-day operation instead. Whatever happens, it will be cool to see it unfold.
  3. I like that! The Jimmy Flintstone body looks a bit better as a four door.
  4. I haven't had any issues with grainy chrome on any of mine. There was quite a bit of flash on a couple of the kits, but nothing I couldn't handle.
  5. Putty spreader and a pair of tweezers (molded with the regular kit parts) if I recall.
  6. Bummer is... a good percentage of the custom parts shown on the box don't come with this verison of the kit.
  7. Huh? I didn't see a metal axle hole in the engine block or a one-piece interior tub.
  8. Like that color on it!
  9. And finished the interior. Bare boned it, and sprayed it in Krylon Hunter Green.
  10. Pickup is getting there...
  11. Dave- a bit off topic, but I have to ask. I noticed on your Smugmug, you had some pics of early IH rigs. Are those just for your own personal enjoyment... or are you guys at Moebius up to something?
  12. IF you totally ignore the rear sump oil pan, rear mounted, vertical oil filter, front cover, and water pump... which are clearly Chevrolet pieces. Never mind the fact the heads don't look anything at all like Ford small block heads. (FE heads, maybe.)
  13. Thanks! It's all making sense now - I was messing around with an Ertl Transtar Eagle earlier, trying to replicate a 1:1 truck. I had the wheelbase measurement, but using the rear axle centerlines it looked WAY off! Now, knowing where the rear axles SHOULD be positioned for the wheelbase, it looks a LOT better.
  14. Does this mean I'm getting paid double time?
  15. One of my favorite kits! LOVE that camo scheme.
  16. Got it. Thanks! The info will come in handy.
  17. Stupid 'newbie' question here, I know, but how does one measure the wheelbase on a rig with more than one rear axle? Do you measure from the centerline of the front axle to the centerline of the rear axle nearest the front, or the rear? Would a tag axle count? Thanks for any info!
  18. Is that why she's your ex? Why? It already has a Mercury front end.
  19. Nah, sorry... the Aztek's sister from Buick had it sacked as far as ugly went...
  20. Could have been jealousy. Maybe people DID think they were cool cars when they were new, but were too ashamed to own up to it.
  21. Some sad and sorry machines there... and in this case I mean that in a good way!
  22. Hey! I uttered not a breath about the '32 Ford.
  23. Half round would work for the side cove trim, but I'm not sure why you'd need it- the kit already has it molded in. Now, REMOVING that trim in that little valley is can be a pain! I've got one I'm planning to make into a base-level Crew Cab- removing that trim piece without damaging the cove is a project unto itself!
