  1. Oh- and I owe Dave Roehrle a thanks for posting the original link and helping spread the word. As you might guess, Dave uses their stuff quite a bit.
  2. I know lots of us use their products, so I felt this may be of interest- http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-huge-fire-destroys-business-in-linn-creek-20120105,0,4228890.photogallery?index=ky3-story-woodlandscenics-010511
  3. As far as the undercoat does, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It's very consistent removing plating, not so much with the undercoat. Seems to depend on how thick it is.
  4. They aren't listed as metallic purple, red, white, or whatever. You just kind of roll the dice and end up with whatever color you get.
  5. Guess that would depend on local codes. I know at my old shop we'd use it for cleaning and hose it off the floors into the drains, and the city never gave us grief over it.
  6. I'm leaning toward a kind of Slo-Tourer style- I'll work around the lack of interior parts by doing a scratchbuilt street-rod style interior. For power I'm leaning toward a Ford Terminator mill, and a low-slung chassis with at least some 18" wheels.
  7. American manufacturers haven't gotten the swing of alphabetic or alphanumeric naming, to be honest. With Caddilac you have the CTS, STS, and DTS, and they all bear a strong resemblance to one another. When I was in the auto repair business, customers and mechanics alike were constantly confusing them. Lincoln's new nomenclature isn't much better.
  8. Here's the thing though- of course everyone remembers the SS and big-block powered Chevelles, but the majority of them were just six-cylinder, four-door, mom-and-pop transportation modules. Same as this concept in the regard there was nothing really exceptional about them for their time. At its core, the Chevelle was simply a mid-size family car. I don't see how using the name on a modern car would dilute the name in any way. A lot of guys weren't happy when the Impala and Malibu names were put on front wheel drive 'family' sedans, but that did not seem to hinder the sucess of those cars, and nobody thinks any less of the 'old' Impalas and Malibus as a result.
  9. The way things are going, there might be an actual 'Chevrolet Nondescript' in the lineup by 2015 or so. All the good model names were spoken for decades ago.
  10. Dave- try using Westley's Bleech-Wite. That stuff can strip chrome plating in as little as an hour- often you can let it soak an hour or two, take out the sprue, and blast it under some hot water from the sink faucet and the chrome falls right off.
  11. I'm thinking of a Dual Ghia as well. Yes, I know that was built on a Dodge chassis, but I think this might work for most of the 'dirty parts'.
  12. The one that dropped off my package yesterday looked like this one-
  13. Kind of looks like that little robot Honda built a few years back.
  14. I'm in- I just don't know when, or with what.
  15. Well, actually.... started on this BEFORE I saw your how-to. Kind of wish I'd waited until I'd tracked down the article now. Oh well, this kit is current again, and I know I've got a few spare '60 Starliner bodies laying around, maybe I'll just pull a do-over.
  16. Very cool- this kit looks killer as a gasser! I've got one squirreled away for a gasser project too, but mine will be a bit more like the old Ramchargers "High and Mighty" car in spirit.
  17. Sometimes it's just the right combination of words in a particular order. Sometimes, it's just slow, bargain-basement internet service.
  18. Throw in a console, bucket seats, and some narrow white 'skunk stripes' and you'll have a model of the forgotten original 'muscle truck'.
  19. Another one of those beautiful models that make me wonder why I even bother. Just a stunning job all around.
  20. Picked this up today- thinking it might be a good candidate- It is missing the drivetrain and much of the interior, but it does have a new Modelhaus rear bumper and taillamps, and has never been painted.
  21. They've switched to boxier trucks in recent years- they're even running the Freightliner Sprinters now. The UPS truck that dropped off my Batmobile today did not have the old-style front end. Just looked like a Workhorse van painted brown. Tom- I am gonna LOVE this. Do you have any idea how long I've wanted to see somebody do a UPS truck in scale?
  22. One of mine is getting modern wheels and an SRT 6.1 Hemi, but I think it would look very nice as a period custom, too.
  23. Update- UPS just dropped off the Deluxe Batmobile kit!
  24. Those are a LOT closer to the 1:1 than most- http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/172/8/f/Ford_427_SOHC___Cammer___by_DetroitDemigod.jpg
  25. Cool. Does that mean the factory-stock variant will have them? Not saying it's a deal-breaker for me, just wondering.
