2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Chuck Most replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I'm in- I just don't know when, or with what. -
Well, actually.... started on this BEFORE I saw your how-to. Kind of wish I'd waited until I'd tracked down the article now. Oh well, this kit is current again, and I know I've got a few spare '60 Starliner bodies laying around, maybe I'll just pull a do-over.
-
Very cool- this kit looks killer as a gasser! I've got one squirreled away for a gasser project too, but mine will be a bit more like the old Ramchargers "High and Mighty" car in spirit.

'64 Dodge D100 Pickup from The Modelhaus
Chuck Most replied to mikemodeler's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Throw in a console, bucket seats, and some narrow white 'skunk stripes' and you'll have a model of the forgotten original 'muscle truck'. -
Another one of those beautiful models that make me wonder why I even bother. Just a stunning job all around.
-
Picked this up today- thinking it might be a good candidate- It is missing the drivetrain and much of the interior, but it does have a new Modelhaus rear bumper and taillamps, and has never been painted.

UPS Parcel Truck
Chuck Most replied to Repstock's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
They've switched to boxier trucks in recent years- they're even running the Freightliner Sprinters now. The UPS truck that dropped off my Batmobile today did not have the old-style front end. Just looked like a Workhorse van painted brown. Tom- I am gonna LOVE this. Do you have any idea how long I've wanted to see somebody do a UPS truck in scale? -
One of mine is getting modern wheels and an SRT 6.1 Hemi, but I think it would look very nice as a period custom, too.
-
Update- UPS just dropped off the Deluxe Batmobile kit!

What kit has a good Ford 427 SOHC?
Chuck Most replied to Patrick2005's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Those are a LOT closer to the 1:1 than most- http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/172/8/f/Ford_427_SOHC___Cammer___by_DetroitDemigod.jpg -

Cool. Does that mean the factory-stock variant will have them? Not saying it's a deal-breaker for me, just wondering. -

Larry's right- there really aren't any 100% dead-on Cammer cam covers, though the '33 Willys ones are about the best avaiable in an easily-found form. The big issue with those is the 'ribs' along the bottom of the cam covers are a bit too pronounced, more closely resembling a surfacing Loch Ness Monster than the actual cam cover's bumps. -

I hope they do something about those big holes in the front bumper before the kit is finalized, but other than that, I am liking what I see. -
That's right, but the car's 'sheetmetal' can be shaped out of putty- you'd more or less be using the MPC body as a buck. That's the approach I'm taking for this one. The 1:1's share the same body structure, but the skin is completely different among the various models.

I'm waiting for somebody to get the chrome sprue that's a blend of white and purple. I've seen that before on a JoHan kit ,though it wasn't purple, I think it was white and red IIRC. I guess they just use whatever color they have on hand to do the chrome parts.

Missing Parts
Chuck Most replied to vintagestang's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I recall (and it's been a LONG time since I've built this kit) the trim piece is molded to the hood, just foiling it should do. I seem to remember the detail was very faint, though. If not, scribing a line toward the front edge to depict the separation line and adding foil would suffice. Adding a small strip of very thin plastic stock would work too. -

If you mean the trim at the front edge of the hood, over the grille, there is none. As far as I know of, no Mustang kit has the trim. Just run a thin strip of Bare Metal Foil on the front edge of the hood and that should do the trick. -
Speaking of... whatever happened to "The Greenhouse Effect"?
