  1. That's usually what I do. If I can't find anything close that way, your local paint shop might be able to help you. I know a few parts store chains (CarQuest and O'Reilly auto parts) can custom-mix paints and put them into a spray can for you.
  2. For some people, yes, it is. But for others, it IS a frivolous promise to set some great goal they won't keep. I set goals for myself constantly- I just don't use a date on the calendar to set and work towards them, that's all.
  3. Replace '28' with '12' and that's exactly what I have to say about it.
  4. I'm still toying with the idea of getting that 1:12 kit- that's one of the few kits I feel would be compelling enough even if built strictly out of box.
  5. The Nissan fullsize van that's coming out? Looks like they just slapped a Titan front end on a Sprinter body.
  6. What's incorrect about the beds? They don't look anything like Cameo beds to me.
  7. Just for clarification- Pro Modeler is Revell. You're thinking Pro Shop.
  8. We may not be getting a half-dozen all-new releases like in decades past, but all things considered, yeah, it is a pretty good time to be a car modeler. I have to say the first time I was ever actually excited for anything in the model car hobby was the arrival of the Moebius Hudson. Ditto the Lonestar. I'm feeling a bit of that same excitement for the upcoming Revell '57 Ford and '50 Olds. And now that AMT/MPC/PL are under the full ownership of Round 2, the future looks very bright indeed. Sure the market may be 'in decline' but it seems to be just as vibrant as it ever was, and growing more diverse all the time.
  9. Those might just be dust particles on the decals- I've had decals with blotches like that, and they've come off once the decal is immersed, then applied to the body and blotted.
  10. This one's made quite a few lists of 'Worst Automotive Ideas of 2011'. Does a market for a convertible luxury SUV exist? I guess we'll see.
  11. Cool! Can't be enought Knight Rider variants out there.
  12. Oh- you also get a cut-and-fold mini box, and the aformentioned postcard size photo of the 1:1, with a breif story on the real truck on the back.
  13. Not exactly new, but still current. Just had the chance to pick one up, and I really like what I see. First off, yes, the engine is not a Ford as in the 1:1, it's a Small Block Chevy decorated to look like a Ford. But it does come with a really nice Roots supercharger. It's fairly small, and I'm thinking it would look really good on a Flathead. A red beacon sits atop the scoop- the beacon lens itself comes from the clear red sprue, which is the same you'd find in an AMT big rig kit, so that means you'll end up with a spare red lens and a TON of red lenses for other projects. Interestingly, MPC includes a small, postcard-sized photo of the 1:1. In this picture, the truck has six-spoke spindle-mounts up front and a Ford 'buggy spring', while the kit has a coil-sprung front axle and spoked dragster front wheels with 'O-ring' tires. I don't know for sure, but this kit was based on either the King T or Wild Dream kit originally, so the front suspension might be a compromise because of that. Otherwise, it looks every bit the part of the 1:1. Kit comes with all sorts of cool parts- a plated 'foot' accelerator pedal, the aformentioned blower and dragster front wheels, a 'monacle' windscreen with clear or smoke-tint panes, somve very nice five-spoke mags and radius rods, and even a stock Model T radiator shell in addition to the Fire Truck piece. The heavily-modified T frame would work under all sorts of T-based hot rod projects, and the rear slicks are the Round 2 MPC pie crust pieces with printed lettering.Should be a pretty cool OOB build, and has a bunch of cool parts for other hot rod projects.
  14. Okay... I'm asking what is wrong with the styling of the Seven, not why the Donkervoort doesn't resemble it. As I said, I don't see anything wrong with the way the 7 looks.
  15. And just out of curiosity, what's wrong with a Seven? (Lotus or Caterham?) They're a nice design, in a minimalist sort of way.
  16. Looks like you had a pretty good year.
  17. Gregg- jeez, the plastic is THAT transparent?
  18. Then of course, there is the Gumpert... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c9/Gumpert_Apollo_Dubai.jpg
  19. I think I would! http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/340-hp-donkervoort-d8-gto-dutch-treat-201918581.html
  20. Began work plugging the hole I made with the bed from a '41 Chevy pickup.
  21. My favorite Revell Beetle buildup so far.
  22. Hearse builders- that means Eric is the go-to guy for that mid '90's Caddy hearse. And the limo.
  23. THIS is on the back cover. On the outside, anyway= http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/amt/images/amt_0690_title.jpg
  24. Those Tamiya Beetle wheels are VERY nice, just a bit more narrow than what you'd usually see on a buggy. Though I don't suppose widening them would be too far beyond the skillset of most modelers.
