  1. That Talladega sketch is giving me a few ideas for that Revell kit I've had laying around for a while!
  2. And I thought my '78 Diesel Scout II was in rough shape! Heck, at least that one's still got the doors and doghouse!
  3. Same here, though I do like to use my airbrush for custom mixed colors and stuff I can't readily get in a rattle can. There are plenty of paint tricks that you can do all day long with an airbrush, but a can can't touch. I'm a firm believer in a good (or even decent ) paint job being more about the prep and technique than the products used to lay it down.
  4. I hope the tooling for that kit still exists... Nice to see you do something so out of character, Lyle! Now if you'll pardon me, I'm going to go build a replica stocker. Wait, wait... no I'm not!
  5. Man- I have got to get m'self one o' those! Very nice, Tom!
  6. Oh yeah- Basterds was the only movie I actually went and saw at the theatre last year! I wanted to see "The Men Who Stare At Goats" also, but the 'basterds' who run the theaters in my area never picked it up! I guess this technically doesn't count, as I got it yesterday, but I'm still pretty proud o' this haul: I paid the princely sum of $12 for it. It's not in perfect shape- the chrome is just about gone from the grille shell, some nimrod glued the plated flaps for the hood sides in backwards, and the inner wheels for the hot rod tires (also installed backwards... who tried building this thing, Ray Charles, or what?)have a severe (good and terminal, actually) case o' 'tire burn'. But there's plenty left to save, and I'm sure glad I didn't need to pay 'full collector's price' on this one!
  7. I've got my basic shell done- now it's just onto adding the details. Since there's actually some interest, I'm trying to make it a bit 'better' than I normally would for my own personal use. Geroge- that '31 Woody would be a great start for that Doodle Bug conversion- the 1:1 that used to be in my sig was a '31!
  8. Wonder how easily the chassis from the '71 Charger R/T will adapt to this one? Or better still, the '68/'70 Pro Street floor!
  9. Thanks guys. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to dig out that '64 Marauder kit that I just KNOW I have stashed around this dump someplace...
  10. I've been gradually cutting back myself- I'm down to about half a pack a day (that's from an all time high- or is that low- of two full packs a day). I like to think of all the models I can buy with the money I'm not spending on tar bars!
  11. I'll say what Ernie said!

  12. I got several bags of parts today- almost enough Model T parts to build three or four '25 and '27 T rods and still have enough spares left for that many more kits. I just might run over to Dean's today, as well- unless the snow's worse than I think it is. Non model related, but I (finally!) picked up Endgame, the new Megadeth album, and I'm still debating whether or not I'll be picking up that DVD of Inglorious Basterds I've had my eye on for a while now.
  13. Buck Smallwood... there's a name you'll never forget! Awesome.

  14. Isn't that from an ICP song?
  15. She's shaping up to be a real beauty, Mike... so much so that I can easily look past the Chev motor! And THAT'S saying something coming from me!
  16. Right! It wouldn't... on a stocker... That or it was an oversight on my part. Either way, dude!
  17. Here she is- my first build of '10... Other than the Astro Supremes ('73 Cougar) and the narrow white Firestones ('62 Electra), she's totally box stock, with nothing more than a basic shave and a low stance.
  18. That's what kind of tipped me off.... sheesh, not even Bill goes to that level of detail! Well, not on the wing window weatherstripping, anyway!
  19. Q- How to you cut the ocean? A- With a sea saw. -rimshot-
  20. I think it's real, the tires may just be overinflated... ! I'm going with real... check out the weatherstrip in the wing-vent windows- I don't see how ANYBODY could replicate that as well as it looks in the photo. Then again, I'm a ham-fisted, semitalented hack, so what the hey-all do I know!?
  21. I was reading in the Free Press about seven years ago about mechanics in Iraq- guys who've been rebuilding radiators with nothing but steel wool and battery acid since they were 9 years old. Kind of the same thing- ol' Saddam didn't let parts for old American cars into Iraq, so they had to kind of cobble up what they needed. Think about THAT next time you get the wrong part from the nearest Auto Zone!
  22. Even if it doesn't, I'll still be buying at least one!
  23. Bobby and his galpal were walking down the path that led to the deserted lover's lane. His girl saw two rabbits doing what comes naturally along the path and asked: "Bobby- what are those two rabbits doing?" "They're making cigarettes, babe." He answered. A while later, Bobby and his girl retuned back the way they came along the same path. Bobby's girl asked: "What kind of cigarettes did we make?" "Well," Bobby replied, "If you get a hump in your belly it was a Camel, and if you don't it was a Lucky Strike."
  24. Gregg- think about what you could do for the hobby with all o' that money!
