That looks great !!! ..... I can't wait to get one. Since this kit is a 2n1 are you guys going to show us a second build like you did with the Black Widow kit? -Steve

So far no real problems, It took a little work to get the C6 Trans from the Fairlaine to fit but that's on me. I finished up the foil trim work on the body last night so clear coat is next. I will be adding a prewired distributor and maybe a few other underhood details. Hopefully I'll get time to post some more photos this weekend. -Steve

Lookin' good Tom !!! ..... keep those photos coming !! -Steve

..... I added a C-6 Trans from the AMT 66 Farlaine GTA kit. I had to shorten the driveshaft a little but it's a good fit. I used the tire decals from the Revell 70 Torino GT. The correct interior tub is from the diecast Bullett kit. I still need to order my replacements from Revell. Here's the chassis painted and mocked up, the shocks and brackets will be added once the rear axle is glued in. I modified the gas tank to fill the screw hole and to look more correct. I've got the body painted with the base coats and about half the foil trim done. Once the remaining trim work is done I will clear coat it and polish it out. I will be using the white C-stripes and some additional decals from Keith Marks that I have on order. Stay tuned for more hopefully later this week ... -Steve

I agree, here's a better pic of it. Photo courtesy of Chuck Homolka and NCAM I believe it got the Best Mopar theme award at our last club meeting out of group of very outstanding Mopar Models. -Steve

Well done James ...... I'm looking forward to seeing it at our next NCAM meeting. Don't forget the date is changed to the 16th. Steve

1/25 Revell '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass Kit
SteveG replied to W-Machine's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for the preview and the update ..... I'll definately be getting at least one of these kits if not more. I've already got the Modelhaus 72 Olds 442 convertible conversion for the Johan 70 Olds 442 kit and there's no comparison from what I can see. Not that there's anything wrong with the Modelhaus conversion. It's just based on the more simplified Johan tooling which was typical of that era. Maybe I'll build them both at the same time just for fun. -Steve -
Nice work Zoli !!! I've had a couple of projects in mind for those Revell bath tub Caprices but I just haven't got to them. -Steve

Looks like you seen this post at the same time I did Bill.

Tom Creeger did the paint work and Bill Coulter did research and buildup of the Lindberg prototype. One or both of them should know what the correct color is. Maybe they'll jump in here and tel us what they used. -Steve

Same here .... I've been a fan of Terry's work for a long time. Paul Hettick built and and sold a beautiful Civilian 4dr Monaco. IIRC, he added a vinyl top, body side moldings, full wheel covers and whitewall tires. It looked like it was right out of a Dealers brochure. -Steve

Lindberg now has their own line of acrylic paint
SteveG replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For those who don't know I've been working with Lindberg as outside resource for a few years. They provided me with a guest pass for I-hobby expo. That's where I got my info from. If you check out Gregg's photos from the show I'm in there somewhere. I do know the paints aren't available yet but I'll do my best to find out when they will be available and who will be carrying them if anyone is interested. I know there are some critics who think the paint line is a waste of money and it should be spent on the car line. FWIW, there are some things going on behind the scenes that if they work out will make a lot of you very happy campers. The seven Police Chargers and the Lawman S/S Plymouth are just the begining of the good stuff to come. -Steve -
Here's the photos of the Display model Harry's talking about. The GT40 kit is really not my thing but I have to agree it does look very cool when finished !!! -Steve

Saphires can come in all kinds of colors from pink to black, even clear. Blue is just the most popular color. Aaron is on the right track, Lindberg is definately trying to compete with Testors by having a full line of products. They are going to have a line of tools including a cool new knife that uses replaceable #11 blades and won't roll of your workbench and into your foot. Look to the left of the paints in the photo below and you'll see some samples. BTW, Lindberg is far from the first to do this. Revell currently has their own line of paints, airbrushes, tools and accessories. Just check the full Revell 2009 catalog. It's all in there. -Steve -
They're supposed to be out in December ...... I'm knocking on wood as I type this ...... maybe I should cross my fingers too -Steve

I'll second that on the Grand Am, didn't Juha Airio make one? I'd be happy even if it's in resin. Bob is right on the money about the Vega. However I have seen some nice looking Lindberg Gremlins that were heavily kit bashed in to some pretty cool looking models. I'm sure someone will figure a way to do the same with the Vega too. -Steve
-
They had some built-ups out, they're most definately 1/32nd scale. I think there were some others in the original series but as far as I know these are the only four they're doing. -Steve
-
Here's the photo in question. I know it's 1/32nd scale and I believe it's a slot car. Does anyone know for sure? -Steve

Rich Melillo built the Arizona from scratch, it took him a year to complete it. He also built the F-35 Lightning Fighter Prototype. Rich does amazing work !!! -Steve -
just got back from my trip to trip to I-Hobby Expo. Here's some preview photos. More details about my trip later ... More I-Hobby Expo 2009 photos

A Good Friend Passes Away - Updated
SteveG replied to JHDrew's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I never got to know Bud but I've seen a lot of his models over the years and I really admired and respected his work. My condolences go out to all his friends and family. -Steve -
My understanding is that's exactly what they are doing. It will also be molded in white this time. -Steve
