  1. Karmodeler2: I absolutely dig you Deal's Wheels Van. Have you thought of adding some freak drops to it? Really not hard to do. Thin the paint down a bit more than normal. Than hold the airbrush still and shoot a small circle. Then move in closer and blow the paint with the air without adding any more paint. If you pay attention to where you angle the brush you can cause the paint to move in the direction you want. The trick for me was to always remember to aim in the opposite direction of where I wanted the center to be. Mike
  2. This is a correct set up. The exhaust is not connected. If you look at the heated metal there is an open circle. The exhaust spins the turbo's impeller and then exhausted. The air for the intake comes into the bright silver side of the turbo. It is compressed within the turbo housing. I hope this helps. Mike
  3. You know after my remark (which some might take exception to in this part of the woods), I really expected something like this instead of your rather nice build up. Mike
  4. Wouldn't that style work better if you added some panels that were blue and gold? :D :P :P :P Of course anyone west of the Mississippi have no clue what I'm talking about. Seriously looks like a good start. Mike

    Show Rod

I find the attached show rod is trapped in my mind. Guess its time to try making it in plastic. I've got a good handle on parts of it but the engine has me stumped. Any recommendations as to a motor that would work for something like this? I'd like something modern but it MUST have the headers. Suggestions would be appreciated. Mike
  6. First off....... MENTAL Illness. If you know me, you know that. Second, I modeled during the late 70's early 80's. I remember desperately seeking any new kit besides a Firebird, Corvette or Mustang. Pac-Man and other video games killed the hobby. I dreamed of reissues from the 60's wondering why the manufacturers focused on new kits (although it was a new Firebird) instead of reissuing some of their old gold. I didn't want to lose the hobby due to lack of choice. Finally Darin I'll help you out with your overflow. When do you want me to bring the van to help you clean out that room? May how things changed. Mike
  7. Before buying an MPC repop, I'd modify the original. I'm assuming you're using the AMT kit. The early pro stocks had a pretty stock interior with door detail with the exception of the back seat. If you were to get a pattern going you might be able to knock them out pretty quickly and have a better product than the MPC interior. Mercy I'm so tempted to say inferior interior. Mike

    Imagine this

First let me salute your athletic ability for doing those marathons. I also salute your imagination. I'm curious would you have a partner to swap off with or what's the reason for the second person? Mike
  9. Where's the Chi-Town Hustler? Mike
  10. Len: I really like that body. What a great build idea. Who cast the body? Mike
  11. Nice work. I'm impressed with the bodywork. Mike
  12. I appreciate everyone's suggestion so far. The static charge suggestion. That is one I'd never would have thought of. Thanks, Mike
  13. I have a Flintstone Mercury that I'd like to thin to make it easier to make the kit full detailed. Any good and safe ways to thin the body down? Thanks, Mike
  14. Tom: What tires and wheels are you using? Mike
  15. What about the MPC 1925 T Switchers kit? I think, at least the original issue had a Modified T body made into a C Cab. Mike
  16. Once again I wish we had a Hobby Lobby less than an hour away. I do have the advantage of a good hobby shop about forty minutes away. Guess that makes up for it. Mike
  17. I'd like to have one for myself. Look's like a great start. Mike
  18. It's interesting to note that other magazine's board doesn't say a thing about this. I hope its not true as I'd like to get a hold of some more Boyd's kits like the Aluma Coupe. Mike
  19. Sweet looking. 1/16 scale or 1/25? Also can you post contact info for both Larry and Chuck? Thanks, Mike
  20. I have the seafoam green '64 Ford that is posted above. My plan is to swap in a late model Mustang interior and merge the Mustang and the Thunderbolt's chassis. I need to find the right rubber and wheels as well as the motor. Mike
  21. I hope it works for you. If I remember correctly that's where the Ford archives are located. I understand trying to reconnect with your past. My great, great grandfather owned a construction company in Cincinnati, OH. I'd love to find either the concrete stamp or a piece of sidewalk with the Ditchen construction name embedded in it. Mike
  22. Connect the folks at the Henry Ford Museum at http://www.thehenryford.org/ Tell them your story. They might be able to help. Mike
  23. NHRA lost my respect when the US Nationals became the Mac Tools-Little Debbie Snack Cakes-Depends-US Nationals. The Nationals were the Nationals, the only race that mattered. The race that made careers. Mike
  24. I don't know what race you were at but the Summer Nationals are at Englishtown. Sorry, they sold you the wrong tickets. :D  Mike
  25. The great thing about this challenge is the number of kits that are being built that serve as inspiration. While I often look at the drawings and think I ought to do that some day, I never do. This has shown me how doable many of these builds are to accomplish. Some of the drawings that I ignored initially I now look at and think, that's cool. I have my own JWAC Challenge car I need to get started on. Hopefully I'll be there in a month. Keep up the good work! Mike
