  1. Great build....Congrats. Can you give more details on the Californian build?
  2. I love it! Shades of 1974! A true street freak.
  3. What about looking at preformed plastic from things like a drink bottle or preformed plastic from packaging?
  4. Best Tom West story I know was he told me he threw away a large box of 1/16 Aurora test shots because he was moving and didn't think anyone would want them. While I never met him, we had several internet conversations.
  5. I'm impressed with this build. Until I read your cons my opinion of Hasegawa kits was raised. With those issues to get to this result is impressive. You did great with your fight with the decals.
  6. Good job on a legendary build.
  7. Scroll down to Hayden Profitt's convertible: https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=359256 or Randy Wall's car. Both are later bodies but in that era did that matter? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/60s-funny-cars-corvairs.312405/
  8. I'd be all over this if my shop wasn't currently in boxes. One thing, I can't see the back of the body.
  9. I'm opposed to opening it. It is only orignaly factory sealed once. If you want to build it offer it up for trade for an opened one. I'm sure there are collectors, another side of the hobby, who'd love to have a sealed one.
  10. Moving the front wheels really helped a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH kit. I totally agree with dumping the chassis. Not sure what can be done with that piece. I would bet this is the most common kit for people to open with great expectations and then put it back in the the box and saying, nope.
  11. Neat idea. When I can get back to building, I'll have to try it.
  12. Looks great. I love the valve covers. A lot of nice details that deserve a second look.
  13. I'd like to find one. I looked to a bunny on a trike with no success but Google Image showed it on eBay.
  14. The Lindberg body is pretty nice. It is real close to the MPC based upon my comparisons of it to Landy PS Challenger. Chassis is slightly above a promo. Interior is a bit better, but still not good. The Monogram Challenger if molded in anything close to 1/25 or 1/24 would be a good kit but at 1/22 seems oversized next to everything. Possibly the best commonly available Challenger is the AMT although its designed as a convertible with a hard top that can be molded on. Sadly, I haven't had much luck swapping interiors or chassis between the various kits. The AMT underpinnings are pretty good. I'm not familiar with the diecast derived Revell kit. We could really use either the MPC kit to be reissued or updated.
  15. Do you think the Cougar is the old MPC kit?
  16. I remember seeing this car in Popular Mechanics while growing up. I really wanted one as a first car. I'd still like to have one. I never knew a kit was available. I'll add it to my list to keep an eye out for.
  17. Sorry to just getting back to this. I've got a couple of Cosma Rays with the hope to make one. I'll pick up the Streaker Vette in case I'm missing any small parts. Thanks for the suggestions.
  18. I can't do a trade now as my hobby stuff is in storage but if this pops up in six months, I'd be interested.
  19. Funny someone posts the Nuclear Banana while I eat a banana. Very nice work. Most of the detailed TF motors I see look cluttered and messy. Not so in your case. Having said that, I don't see anything missing. Very nice work.
  20. I'm working on restoring an old MPC Cosma Ray (Round2 please reissue!). It would make sense to rob the MPC Vette for parts but the Revell 1967 is a lot more common to get. Does anyone know how close these two 1967's are in size? Can the frames be swapped fairly easily? The MPC is one of their best kits of the era. How does it compare to the more modern Revell tooling? Thanks!
  21. I know that Fred's has been closed for several years. I've tried to find a listing or a catalog of what all products he offered. Does anyone have either they could share? Thanks!
