Tutorial: Creating LED wiring harnesses for your builds.
iBorg replied to Duddly01's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
An alternative source for LEDS is to look at DollarTree. They tend to have some dirt cheap LEDs with a battery holder at several holidays including Halloween. They may be in a plastic enclosure but I've broken them with a pair of pliers. -

A new model car magazine
iBorg replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Three years ago I would have been all gun ho on this. With the huge improvements to MCM, I'm good. It's a great reason to go to my LHS. -
Looks good. The decals look exceptional for being printed with a "el cheapo" printer.

Or you can sand them down to fit.

The problem is its a low production garage kit from 1995 so finding people who have built it is a challenge. I have talked to one individual who did build it but he's in France so I'm doubtful on paint availability between the two countries.

what kit is this ? I have the decal
iBorg replied to Mr mopar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The kit shown is an MPC Vette. MPC made Vettes in both 1/20th and 1/25th scale. I really think this is the 1/20 kit with the rear wheels radiused. Its a neat design that fits the period well. You could look for identification numbers on the back of the kit and search it that way. Also the markings typically tell who the manufacturer was. -
I'm about to attempt a kit from Screamin' from the Mars Attacks series. It has two large diorama pieces that are vinyl. Does anyone have any recommendations for primers that are currently available for vinyl? I know top colors need to be acrylics. Thanks!

RED Turn Signals/Hazards : WHY ?!?
iBorg replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Before I worry about this I'm going to question why all vehicles have turn signals but most people don't use them. -
Wonderful job......truly a great textbook on how to build an AF/X.

OLD AMT decal sheet? For ???
iBorg replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Take a look at this: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/amt-9203-700-mckee-engineering-special--1184565 Would love to see this reissued. -
The Polar Light FC chassis was inspired by the original Jo-Han kit bits and would be a better place to start from. The chassis in the AMT Vegas etc is a poor match to it. Jo-Han used a very similar chassis in a host of funny cars such as the Olds 442. The only Jo-Han FC kits that did not share the same chassis lineage was the Challenger and the MT Pinto/Mustang. The Challenger was pretty accurate for the Gene Snow car while the MT kits were accurate for those cars.

I feel like I'm caught in the 1950s.

I use a photo album with sleeves for my decals. I've got them organized by genre and then broken down by class. I agree with Mark, to not use those sticky pages. Having dealt with scanning images professionally I always hated the debris those things leave. Quite literally you'd have to clean both the scanner and the lid after every scan. I have 8.5 x 11 sleeves that I originally bought to hold overhead transparencies. The plastic shoeboxes more than likely is what I'll go with.

Amazing build of a WV car. While I don't want to attempt this car, I'd like to know where you got the decals. I'd like to see what else they offer.

I'm getting ready to be off my feet for the next 6-8 weeks due to knee replacement. I'm hoping to do some modeling (when I can get safely to my model area) as well as trying to learn Blender. One project I've taken on is cleaning up my model area. In that process I've come to realize I've got two boatloads of aftermarket parts from PE, resin and various other materials. I've had them sorta sorted by manufacturer but realize that's not most efficient. I'm thinking broader categories but haven't figured out what to put them in. Here's my list of broad categories: Specific to make of vehicle Engine Front Suspension Rear Suspension Interior Body details Am I missing anything? Is there a better way to do this?

Looking Good.....really good.

What about pinning it and the directions to a soft piece of wood?

This is what I have. I inherited it from my father so I'm just getting used to it. I think it might be a better option as it would be slower and possible easier to aim. I think a larger drill will lead to lots of broken bits. I also believe a Dremel will be too fast. https://www.towerhobbies.com/product/electric-handy-drill/TAM74041.html?gad_source=1
