Prudhomme's wife won't let it happen. She oversees the licensing. They've made too much money in diecasts. Slixx making the Blue Hot Wheels car has surprised me. I can't believe Mattel licensed the Hot Wheels name. The only Prudhomme options I can think of are the yellow Hot Wheels car, the Revell Monza. You could adapt the Revell decals and do his Vega, Monza and the Arrow. They may not be dead on accurate but they're the best you can get without a lot of expertise.

I'm pretty good at merging stuff together. The Snake body is pretty much a Cuda without wheel blisters. You could add the roof spoiler but Prudhomme didn't keep it all season long. The Goose car is a problem. I think I'd get the AMT Plymouth Duster and merge that with the Monogram Duster. Not a project for the faint of heart. The Revell body is way to swoopy and all the resins I'm familiar with just don't look right in the green house area. Could be an interesting project. I'd take the easy way out and super detail the 1/24 kit. Mike

It may not be a 392, but that's a sweet looking BAE Hemi.

1/16th scale Winged Warrior
iBorg replied to ratnasty's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Chuck can you tell me where you got the decals and the body? Mike -
Mark is not connected with Comp Resins. Mark has a wide range of products. None of it is a direct recast but Mark is a true craftsman when it comes to his masters. His resin is just as good as his masters. The price I paid for an injected 392 was more than fair, the quality outstanding. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I agree...the chassis, body and the grill shell may have use. The rest.......

What scale is that kit really in? How does it compare size wise to the Revell or AMT kits? Thanks, Mike

ED: you're in my thoughts. Pay attention to your doctors. Of all the things you can get, MSRA is not one you want. Folks....keep Ed in your prayers and thoughts. MSRA 's a ............ Mike -
If you have the receipt you could always return it. I think HF covers everything for one year. Of course that means you have to lug it there. Mike

Reher-Morrison Levi Garrett Pro Stock Beretta Pics?
iBorg replied to crowe-t's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I wonder how close the Beretta chassis is to the Monzas of a few years before. Mike -
I think I saw that on sale. I was really interested until I saw the size of it. I knew I wasn't skilled enough to do it justice. Mike

I second the very nice build. This has me almost pulling my pieces out to start yet another project. Mike

I'll follow this one also. I have a couple of those I ought to build. Mike

Terraplane Grille in Resin
iBorg replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Weirdest ting, held at that angle it looks like a motorcycle tank. I'm worried you lost too much detail. I think it needs fien tuning before casting. Mike -
For the last several years I was part of a forum that had a private group in the ESPN Stock Car Challenge. The group folded during the off season as the group's original focus was a fan page for Chad Little. Chad last raced in 2002. As Daytona approaches, I realize I'm going to miss not have a team of drivers to follow. Anyone belong to a similar group that would invite me to join? Mike

What is your dream model kit?
iBorg replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well I given it serious suggestions thought time. My choices would be: 1930 Miller Indy Car (hey it is the 100th anniversary....) see: http://www.google.com/images?q=miller+indy+car&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=768&bih=434 Scarab (I know Mini Exotics made one in resin) that's fully detailed see: http://www.arteauto.com/scarab-racelogoftheall-americanspecial1957-1965bookbyplerner.aspx An ACCURATE Kurtis Kraft Indy Car see: http://www.sportscardigest.com/amelia-island-concours-delegance-corporate-award-winners/ Thanks for giving me a second dreamland vote. -

Can you post a link to the site where I can find pictures? Thanks, Mike -
The possibility of "No Chrome" Kits
iBorg replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed.... No chrome in kits that require chrome would be a hindrance to most model buyers to only benefit a small percentage. When you think about it, such a change would only be to inconvenience model builders for the less than correct placement of the mold attachment points. Mike -
I'd want hollow. That way if I want to detail it, I can. If its solid there's nothing I can do with it but make it solid.

I hope you'll post if its available for sale from where and how much. Mike

Legalities regarding casting
iBorg replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
TECHNICALLY when you copy an artist's work you are, within the United States, violating copyright law. Its like if I sell photos printed from a CD of photos I bought from you. I am violating your copyright. If making a copy for yourself, it would more than likely fall under the same protection as copying a CD to your computers hard drive for YOUR use. Technically a violation, but the court won't hear such a violation. IF on the other hand, you either give or sell that copy to someone else, the court will hear the case if the owner of the copyright wishes to pursue it. Making a copy of a previous resin piece more than likely won't bring a prosecution because most resin casters know that they're in a gray area if they recast or modify the previous work of another entity. They more than likely don't have the legal right to cast the original that you copied. The defense is their modification makes their casting a new and original work. How much modification is required to make it a new work? I'm unaware of any court ruling that indicates how much modification would be required. More specifically both parties are violating the trademarks of the manufacturer's. Even if the automaker is out of business, their trademark is more than likely still protected. For example, American Motors is an active trademark of Chrysler Corporation. Our hobby has been blessed with a casual ignorance of both trademark and copyright holders. I know of only a few times it has been applied to the hobby. The kit manufacturers buy licensing fees to the 1:1 manufacturers as well as the tire manufacturers. Royalty costs are the given reason why current Revell/Monogram kits don't have tire markings. As for the aftermarket only a few decal manufacturers have cleared their products. The cost of that clearance is why Slixx dropped Nascar decals. MIke -
Hey Don......Since Gooche's decals are hard to find could you show a set of Slixx decals on it? Mike
-
Try a medical tape, preferably a paper one. Self adhesive, weighs less and a lot easier to install. Mike

There are very few kits that I have passed up at a model show. This is one of two (the other was an Etzels Classic resin kit) that I passed up that I still regret. Semi built, poor decals (before slixx), restorable and only $40. Let it go because I expected it to be re-issued. Fourteen or fifteen years waiting and its still on the list of most desireable kits that haven't been re--issued. One day I'll pay BIG bucks for one. The next week it will be announced as a next quarter release. Very nice build. I wish it was mine.
