  1. Hello. What's the best display case system you've seen available? Ones I really love are the ones that Sharper Image housed their 1/18 scale die-cast collection back when. Need something that can hang on a wall that can house multiple 1/24 scale models and keep dust off of theme. Anybody know of any? I know Scale Motor Sports has a nice display shelfe that has an angle to it, but it's just for one car, and it doesn't cover the car either. Also need some way to prevent the tires from cracking in our dry climate.
  2. I havn't tried it yet, but you could sand-paper a bald spot, making it flat on the tire. This should give the impression that it's sagging. Good point on the tires though, never thought of it myselfe. Then again, maybe the guy pumped alot of air into the tires making theme full for the photo? Hmmmmmmmm, there's a thought. I also didn't notice the support underneath, but I still say fake anyway.
  3. Actually, your photo is clear enough to see what to look for, so thank you. I will look for one when the time comes.
  4. Thank's. In regards to the KS models I just purchased, they are both molded in white. I'm not sure if I want to paint'em white, red, or gun-metal. Whatever color I do the hardtop in, I plan on matching the convertible with. If I choose red, I'll still primer, paint white for base coat, and then red. I noticed red pops out better and looks more true to red over white. Red over plain primer tends to look dull.
  5. Cool cars, but let's keep this specific to Koenig please? I used to like those Gemballa Porsches, but more I see it, the more I think it's ugly. The newer Gemballa's are nicer, but I still prefer Koenig.
  6. I bet some angree divorced wife started that as a symbel of what she'd like to do to "HIS!" LOL! I agree, that is the dumbest thing I've seen on a truck so far. I'd go for fuzzy dice anyday over that!
  7. Nice build on that 911! Me likes! I'll get some pics for yea. Koenig didn't do to much to the Countach. Minor differences are the side skirts, and a differently styled rear wing. This I think actually look's better than the stock Countach. reference, here are the other two kit's I purchased.
  8. As this thread is becoming more for Koenig Specials models and less 1/16, this should be under a different catagory. Nevertheless, I just purchased from ebay three 1/24 KS models. The Koenig Specials Testarossa Competiton The Koenig Specials Testarossa Competition spyder and the Koenig Specials Lamborghini Countach. Thought I should grab those three while still available................................ Still looking for the KS Mercedes 500 SL KS Lamborghini Diablo, KS Porsche 911, and, KS Porsche 928.
  9. I was just searching through HWJapan and noticed they had it listed, but sold out. AND! I also discovered that they do NOT accept PayPal.
  10. Do you have pic's of the 928? Is it still new in kit form or did you build it already? I'm interested in buying from you if it's new in kit form. It's one of my favorite models as it is easy to put together and look's awesome. Thinking of painting it in Boyd's Chezeal Teal Pearl color, it's a nice dark green..........maybe I'll use that on one of my MR2 kit's.
  11. WOW! I really like Hobby Search website! They have a lot of cool stuff there. Including some stuff for us more mature model-builders. Thank you for refering me to theme! I just wonder if some of their DVD-Rom's can be played on our DVD Players and/or DVD computers?
  12. Well, so far I like Hobby Search the best. I think I'll register with theme and warms-up me PayPal. I noticed that Aoshima has a Veilisde Mazda RX7 FD3S which INCLUDES the beautiful five-star wheels that my Fujimi's 300ZX SHOULD have came with!
  13. Thank you guy's, I am interested in the older kit's like 80's and 90's. So yea, HLJ probably wont' work for me unless I want something new. Fortunetly, I've got three kit's coming to me so I'm set for a while. Well, four if you count repainting my blue Insight. Any more on-line shops? I was just having a look at Strada and they dont' seem to have many pictures of their products. I like places that have pics of product so I know exactly what I'm buying. They also dont' have alot of Fujimi stuff either, but some nice Aoshima models I wouldn't mind getting. One Aoshima kit I like is their yellow AOS-30424 1/24 Honda Prelude Si-VTEC Sports Car w/Gold Rims tuned by Jun Auto Mechanics.
  14. The gray that I painted is lighter than the blue is it not?
  15. Hi there Kustoms. For KS Porsches, they have a 911, and an awesome 928. I've seen the 911 available at HWJapan, but not sure where to find the 928, it seems to be much more rare. As for references for 1:1 scale, try Koenig's web site. http://www.koenig-specials.com/homepage%20...%20englisch.htm I have no idea about the wheels however, sorry. Hope this helps. For 1/24 scale references, here are the following KS models. KS-Testarossa Competition KS-Testarossa Competition spyder KS-Mercedes Benze 500 SL KS-Porsche 928 KS-Porsche 911 KS-Lamborghini Countach KS-Lamborghini Diablo I've seen the Testarossa and Mercedes models available in both black and red, and the Testarossa in white. There are several 1/16 and 1/18 scale models including KS-Ferrari 355 KS-Ferrari 512 BB KS-Testarossa version 1 KS-Testarossa version 11 "Competition" KS-Lamborghini Countach Then their are 1/43 scale resin and pre-built model's from BBR mostly the same cars but I have seen the KS Ferrari 360 Modena done as well. When you build'em, please post here? Thank you! As you can tell, I'm a big big fan of KS!
  16. Thank's guy's! The last thing I got from HLJ was a big book "catalouge" from Kyosho for their 1/28 scale Mini-Z RC cars. Awesome book, but too bad it's all in Japanese text. Still, with the great photo's, who needs to read? Kind of weird to start from the back of the book and work your way up to the front. But that's how they do it. I guess they probably think we're weired too.
  17. Thank you. From the look's of my older Insight model, it look's like I just painted over the stock paint and it turned out nicely. The model was also same blue as the new model, and I'm pretty sure I used gray primer over that, then the base coat, the decals, and clear gloss. I may do this one different. I know you know already but darker colors over light colors work better than lighter colors over dark colors.
  18. Hello. I was refered to HW-Japan's website for model kit shopping. I want to know, how reliable are they? I've noticed several kit's with 1 unit in stock listed back in '07. I've also noticed alot of pre-orders for '09 as well. So the question is, if they list it as being in stock, do they really have it in stock? How up to date are these guy's? I've shopped the internet ton's of times for RC car products and I know of very reliable sorces, but never shopped for plastic model kit's on line, with the exception of the three kit's on ebay. Are there other on-line stores that have a large selection of Fujimi and Aoshima kit's? You all know my style by now, I'm also interested in several of Aoshima's VIP, tuner, racing style van's such as Honda Odyessey's and similar type's. I'm also very aware of Hobby Link Japan but they seem to be out of stock on ALOT of stuff these day's.
  19. I'm not going to bother with the dashboard. I have not looked for an Ace hardware but I'm sure we have one somewhere in town. As the model wont' arrive for another two weeks, I'm in no hurry to know what type or anything, just curious. Still think this is best method instead of painting over stock paint? You can post it here, does not matter.
  20. Now I'm really nervous about these two kit's. Worried that the body kit which is what interested me in the first place, might not FIT PROPERLY? I'm worried that I wasted money on a project that might fail due to lack of resin-experience.
  21. Yea, I realize it'll be time consuming, but it's just an idea. Sorry to hear about your geo. I'm interested in knowing what stripper it is as I think it's best way to go and I might be tempted to just polish the metal and see how it look's when done. I can alway spaint over the polish!
  22. Not sure I like that black-chrome. I'd like to see pictures of a die-cast model stripped, and polished up. I'm also considering useing Bare-Metal Foil's aluminum to cover the car with in order to give it a bare aluminum look. As I said, the real car is aluminum, except bumpers of coarse.
  23. Now that really makes me feel bad cause I don't have the skill to do that.
  24. By the way, I've just done an extensive search through HWJapan's webiste for wheels. They certainly had alot of nice 1/24 scale wheel sets, but NONE suited these models. I do know of an odd company that makes a set of wheels useing the same poly-cap type installment that might have the perfect style for the MR2, but not sure about the 300Z. The wheels come in various styles and in three finishes, white, silver, and chrome. If I can get up to Denver, I'll check out the local hobby shop there as their more likely to have what I'm looking for than the Hobby Town's here.
  25. Geee, thanks for the info on the resin there, gives me some doubt now on these kit's. The description sais resin, but the photos look plastic, so not entirely sure. These pictures were provided in the ebay listing. Here is the 300ZX body kit, look's plastic to me. And here's the MR2's body kit, this looks more like resin? I thought resin's had more of flesh color to'em?
