  1. When my models call for "tire-black", I just simply use semi-gloss black. Would one really notice the difference anyway? My latest Koenig Specials Countach calls for "burnt iron". What the heck is burnt iron?
  2. Actually, Testor's has a paint called Rust. It comes in their small 1/4 FL oz paint bottles and it's paint number 1185. It kind of look's like red clay. I'd dip a very small brush in the paint and splatter it on the pipe as that should give it the look you want.
  3. Yea, only if I'm patient with it and do an awesome job! Look's complicated, I've never built a Countach before, and certainly not one of this level!
  4. Sometimes I wish I was modeling on one of those lighted tables that you see on CSI! How handy would that be?
  5. Hello. I'd like to do a little review on one of the KS models I just received last night. First one to review is the KS Lamborghini Countach. This kit is part of Fujimi's Enthusiast series so there are ton's of details with this thing. Every door opens, and it has optional pop-up headlights as well. Highly detailed engine, realistic chassis/suspension and a beautiful interior. The body look's delicate as there are lot's of openings. The windows come in multiples peices. Front windshield just get's glued in place on the outside. Wheels are screwd in, not plugged in like traditional kit's are. The KS body kit look's nice and fortunetly is properly molded plastic, not an after-thought resin add-on. The kit even has a plaque with information on it that you have to assemble and decal. This is definetly a kit that will take time to build as there are ton's of peices and delicate things to assemble such as hinges, mounting the doors and making sure everything opens and closes smoothly. This kit is so detailed, they even have you paint the INSIDE of the body flat-black.
  6. Yep, he's still there all right. Awesome guy, fun to chat with. He's helping me try and find the Tamiya putty and two KS models.
  7. Then shouldn't they call it Fast and Furious 2.5?
  8. UPS man just delivered to me this evening my two KS-models! Still waiting on my green wide-bodied MR2 and Insight from Japan.
  9. I don't think you mean re-make. 2F2F was a definet sequal to the first one as they mentioned "giving him his car key's." Personally, I'm looking forward to Transformers 2, and T-4.
  10. That is what I don't want. I don't want a blue that pretends to be black, or vise-versa. I just want a nice deep dark ritch blue................ That's not black.
  11. Nothing showed up in the mail today. I love ordering stuff and receiving packages, but I absolutelty HATE waiting for theme! You wait, and wait and wait all week and you think oh good Friday's here, it'll be here for sure and nothing. I'll be really upset if nothing shows tomarrow. The Koenig models are coming from USA dealer and the MR2 and Insight is coming from Hong Kong but sadly not via EMS. I think the KS models shipped Tuesday when I was thinking Monday perhaps. So, let's hope tomarrow? Please, pray with me?
  12. What decal are you useing? If your using Scale Motor Sports, be very delicate. Their stuff can tear easily, but they are awesome. I have not tried the masking tape idea yet myselfe but it might work. Scale Motor Sport does provide some pre-made templates, but unfortunetly, they can't provide it for every model. I think they only provide it for the most popular Ferrari and WRC models. If your good with a ruler, you might want to take some measurements and measure every line of your hood and transfer that to the back of the carbon-fiber decal makeing sure that the pattern is how you want it. With carefull measureing, I think you can just simply cut from your own design and you'll be fine.
  13. I think of all of theme Tokyo drift was my favorite. The chase seen was really awesome, and Han's orange/black Mazda was sweet too. Oh and let's not forget that Asian actress in Tokyo Drift. She was SMOKIN! I sure loved her! I'm still seeing Death Race and Mad Max scenes in this new one. Anyone else see's it?
  14. Thank's guy's. I'm still trying to find the right putty to finish my MR2 with. The chassis and interior is all finished, I'm just waiting till I have the right-stuff to finish the body with. I'm hopeing my KS models will arrive today. I'm expecting the hard-top Koenig Competition, and the Koenig Countach. Not sure which color to paint the Countach although I have seen it in a nice dark burgendy color before. Might do that. When I'm ready for the Koenig Comp, I'll look for some blue's.
  15. I dont' understand this one yet. Is it supposed to be a re-make of the original movie, or is it supposed to be the third one? I had assumed Tokyo Drift was the third one, but it was never called the third one, just a different one. So, confused about this one. It SHOULD be titled as Fast and Furious 3, but it's not. It's almost advertised as a re-make? Why re-make? I liked the first three, well, I liked 2F2F and Tokyo Drift much better than the first. So let's hope this one is even better. Yet, some of it reminds me of Death Race for some ill reason? Death Race or Mad Max, one of the two where their racing in the desert.
  16. Look's like it hit a telephone pole. I'd finish it off like that and make it look like it belongs in Wrecks.
  17. Thank's for the info on the blue. I'm not afraid of painting metallics at all. Don't you remember my RX7 FC3S is metallic gray? I actually find metallic's relatively easy to paint. In fact, I just picked up German Silver from Model Masters to paint my MR2 with. If I remember correctly from painting a Toyota Altezza Mini-Z body this color, it was very close to the box image for my Veil-MR2. So, I'm not afraid of metallics at all. I just did not want a metallic finish. However, now that you've said it is a metallic pearl, that will do nicely as I want it close as possible. So thank you for the info!
  18. The only "Dark blue's" I've seen so far have been metallic, and I'm not looking for flakey metallic colors. I'm wondering if perhaps one of the military colors might work? But most of those are flat aren't they? It sort of reminds me of the blue's on some BareCat and/or Corsair WWII airplanes?
  19. Well, I just checked the 300Z and it is specifically designed for the 300Z and LOOK's to be more precise than the MR2, but I won't really know till I start working on it. Interesting enough, on the 300Z your not required to cut the side skirts off like on the MR2. The 300Z Veil-skirts overlap the stockers. It has a T-top option, and I'm tempted to do so, but not sure. The image on the box look's to be some sort of light grey color, certainly less silver than the MR2. MR2's interior is finished excpet I haven't got dull-coat on there yet. Will need to get'some. Still waiting arrivel of my two KS models, and my green wide-body MR2. Hopefully they'll show up today. Interior done. body work in progress. Wing's just sitting there. Not glued yet.
  20. Hello there. I am waiting for arrivel my Koenig Specials Ferrari Testarossa model, and I wish to paint it this color. However, I'm not sure what color it is. Look's dark-blue to black. I dont' want it to be on the blacker side if you know what I mean. I also dont want a metallic color. Lastley, since I dont' airbrush, I dont' want to custom mix a color. So can anybody help me determin what brand paint, color to use for this?
  21. It is a good question. I'll have to see how the 300Z's kit looks. It's POSSIBLE they made it a universal kit to fit various other bodies in order to keep cost down. If the 300Z kit looks identical, that'll give us the answer. I will be able to post pic's of the interior's completion later today.
  22. Thank you for your kind words. When my camera's done sleeping, "charging", I'll post updates. I continued with the rear by cutting the Veilside bumper in half and glue'd theme in place. I noticed that the side-skirts dont' really need extending the same way as the bumpers do. For theme, I'll just use the putty to finish up the corners. I glued on the mirrors, glued the center peice to the Veilside wing and right now it's just sitting in place. It does look really cool being all peiced together even though it's looooooooooooooooooooooong way from being finished. The chassis is great, and the interior is looking great. I plan on getting some dull-clear coat for finishing the interior and to help seal in the instrument decal. For this interior, this is the first time I've combined black's for detaling and it look's great. I hope when I dull-coat it, it'll all really stand out and look fantastic. This kit is teaching me patients very well! LOL!
  23. I'm having second thoughts about this body. I've cut the rear bumper off and test-fitted the aftermarket rear bumper and it too requires widening. I've noticed however, that the front no longer fit's onto the chassis. The chassis peg's were designed to go into the holes of the original bumper. I am sure the aftermarket bumper was made to fit those pegs, excpet that we had to widen it, so the holes no longer line up. Plus, the way the new bumper is molded, it does not seem to fit in well. I'm tempted to trash this body and wait for that other MR2 kit I've got coming. Should be here any day now. Plus, I still dont' have the proper putty for finishing this one. Frusterated and not sure I want to touch the 300Z!
  24. I hope your going to paint the black details on the Ferrari. Such as the vents on the rear engine cover, the little peice on the hood in front of the windshield, and the window trim. Plus the front air-dam vents? Alot of people forget those details and it's those details that helps complete the model. Nice work so far, interesting choice of color, would have never thougt of a Testarossa in that blue before.
  25. Yes your right, I remember now that they are sticky-backed. Very nice detail's. But are they photo-etched or what?
