Curious about Mini Cooper S models
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks! I prefer the white one that Handsome Rob drove. Found it at HLJ, but have no funds for it at the moment. I wonder what inch-up wheels I could fit on it? -

A few years ago while I was home alone, I had our family cat, Smudge die on me. She was a great faithful OLD cat and she just simply died of old age. Earlier in the day she wanted to be in my lap and for some reason I shood her away, when I think of it, I wish I hadn't shoved her away as I think she was trying to say good bye. Later that day I found her dead under our piano. I was sad the rest of the week. I also had a Shelty that I loved dearly a few years ago. Named him Quinn after the character on the tv show Sliders. Again, I was home alone with the three family dogs, and Quinn had passed away durring the night. I was really upset the rest of the day but fortunetly, the other two dogs comforted me. Pet's are so nice to have as they know when your upset and when you need'em. I really enjoy having my cat Sony, she's the greatest pet I've ever had and I hope she lives to be a very old cat. Plus, she's in charge of my Dad's new dog! -
Body primed. Gonna wait till later before flipping it over and painting the inside. Then when that's dry, time for some masking!

Cool. Weired how some animals have different colored eyes. My mom used to have a blue-mural Ausy that had weird eyes. Each eye was half blue and half bownish/black color. Looked like she was always starring up at you evil-like. -

PE set? What you mean? The Cooper Works S version would be nice. Can you post pic's? I'd like to see what the kit look's like. I forgot that Kyosho has an awesome 1/18 scale die-cast model of the Cooper Work's S version in white. It's beautiful, and I'd like to build one in 1/24. -

Thank you, I'll see if he has a web site. -
Hello there. I'm interested in some day building one of these. While I absolutely hate the plan boring Mini Cooper, I simply LOVE the S-version! I'd like to find this model, and I'd like to know if there is a racing Cooper version? I'd like to combined the two into a half street/half race car with some nice inch-up's. Would be awesome to build it like this one!

Sometimes stories get so big, they all get messed up. It is confusing isn't it? I had always assumed Tokyo Drift was 3F3F, and this was either 1.5 or 2.5 There are some scenes in DVD's that we dont' see in the theatre. Ever seen Close Encounter's of The Third Kind? In the normal version, they dont' show the main character, Richard Dryfus gathering all the materials to build his big "Devils Mountain". They also don't show him having a confrence with the other alien-encountered folk's with the "officials". In the extended version, they do show those two scenes, and I actually think the extended one is funnier when they show Richard Dryfus throwing the plant's and rock's into his kitchen window! LOL!

If it weren't for the black, it be just like Nash Bridges! Nice man! Now you need a little figure of Don Johnson and Cheech Marin

I started this thread in response to the thread, "this sucks". I wanted something brighter and more positive, and we're all animal lovers here, so why not? You dont have to participate if you dont' want to, that's okay. I really felt bad for the person who had that kitten die in his hands and I wanted to show how much we all love our animals. I didn't think I'd get as many replies as I have gotten already! -

What's with the two differently colored eye's on the cat? I see one gold, and one red? -
I just started prepping up the body. Alot of trimming was required as Fujimi's got some flashings, or whatever you call it. You know, the left over plastic? I need to wash it next, let it dry, then primer it. I'm going to go ahead with the flat-black primer as I want the blue to be nice and dark. Plus, the black primer seems to dry quickly. I'll be painting both outside, and inside of body. I'm also going to paint the wing seperately so I can get all the details of it and not leave some of it unpainted like previously. Another reason for the flat-black primer, is as mentioned, I can mask off the areas I want black. The window trim is too thin to bother masking, so it'll be hand painted. But the rear engine cover, rear engine air-intakes, headlight buckets, and airdam center, will be masked.

Thank's! I just finished the chassis and engine. Work's a little better with CA glue then with the slow-drying glue. Interior done, just need to do the roll cage. I mounted the rear wheels, and started to mount the front wheels, but I was dumb and didnt' wait for the glue to dry on the disk-brake and wheel hub peice. So, had to use CA glue to get the parts to hold. I dont' know if the front wheels will spin or turn yet. But since it's a model, I dont' think it matters much. I have yet to decide if I want to paint the wheels gold or leave'em silver. Next step is the body which I'm nervous about cause I've never used this Laqure paint before, well, except for clear coats. One thing with assembling all these exaust pipes and downpipes and what not, is it's awefully tough to get'em to line up properly while drying. Again, CA glue helps alot here, as well as the insta-cure spray. Just make sure your satisfied with the line-up before spraying the insta-cure on.

Sure, by all means as this is the proper thread for this model kit. I had also thought of useing the metallic gray I painted my RX7 with, but I didn't think it would suit the Ferrari. Perhaps it would suit the Porsche 928 or the Mercedes. I just started assembling the chassis and interior. I tell yea, I hate assembling the downpipes that come up from the bottom of the chassis. You know, those three peices you have to put together? What a pain! Feel free to post pic's of your entire project from start to finish here. Like I said, it would be interesting to see two of the same kit's being put together in the same thread. I'm thinking for the body, I'll use the flat-black primer as my base coat, then I'll be able to mask off the areas I wanted flat-black and then paint the blue. I'm not sure if I'll be able to mask off neatly the window trim, but I can definetly mask off the air-dam vent, the headlight buckets, and the rear engine cover vent. The window trim will probably be hand-painted.

Thank you guy's. This is the only putty I've been able to find so far that is NOT that green Squadron cra!. This is a two-part epoxy putty and I've been told that the white stuff is what I want to use but was recommended to me by Karl and another to use sheets of plastic inside, and then use the putty as a filler. Thank you for the tip on the wheels being more suited for 1/25. I've also found a similar set from Aoshima for 1/24 and I think those are 17-18 inch wheels. At the moment, I'm enjoying working on the Koenig Competition at the moment and will get back to the MR2 later on. As for the wide body kit, this particular MR2 is normal width. My "green" MR2 that I just got recently does have a nice wide body kit that is molded plastic, NOT resin. AND, it's an overlay that fit's much better than this resin kit. It also comes with the appropiately sized wheels for it, and they look half way descent too!

I'll stick with the blue I've already got. However, when I black-primed the steering wheel, and painted it flat-blue, the blue was hardly noticeable on it at all. You can just see the blue when it's up against the Ivory, but not by itselfe. Not sure what to do with the steering wheel. Might go with a lighter blue?

This is the set I found at the local hobby shop. Unfortunetly, I didn't have enough cash in pocket to pay for theme, so Karl's holding theme for me plus several other wheels from Aoshima and the putty. The question is how will the offset be for the MR2?
-
Update and a question. I went to Complete Games and Hobbies today to show Karl my MR2 project. He had no luck finding the Tamiya putty and I've been told by another sorce that it's discontinued and no longer available, except ebay of coarse. What he did have, was this stuff which he recommended. It's called Milliput, and it's a two part epoxy putty and one he had specifically for me was their really fine one which he sais looks like plastic when done. I also found several set's of wheels one of which look's darn close to the box image, but in white. However, now I know how to create a nice silver aluminum finish! Unfortunetly, the putty and the four set's of wheels cost about 50 bucks of which I didn't have in my pocket, so Karl's holding the items for me till I can come back later with some green. But is this putty recommended? What do you guy's think? If so I'll try and head back to the store as soon as I can tomarrow.

Thank you, but I found the silver Sharpie and will try that. If that look doesn't look right, I'll try the bare-metal on the Spyder version. My goal is to get the two identical color wise. I tried the silver Sharpie. The color is really nice, but I'm afraid the red got too thick to show up the details here. One problem with paint-brushing I guess. For the center peice, I sprayed it in Guards Red and it turned out nicer. I think the silver Sharpie should be able to work here. When I do the convertible, I'll spray the header covers, or whatever those side top's are. Spray seems to be thinner and evens out better than paint-brush.
-
Just got the red done and the other engine bit's painted silver, both sides. I really like this silver for engine parts, I'll continue to use it on all my other models!
-
Wow, look's good! How did you accomplish the lettering? What color are you painting your body/interior?
-
Thank you, I'll look for the silver Sharpie. I forgot those were available in different colors and sizes. Would obviously want the smallest one possible. Yea, those paint-pens are hard to use on fine details like this. Unfortunetly, you have to press the foam-applicater down to get the paint to start flowing, and that's where it screws you up. I think the bare-metal foil would be too difficult with these details. so I'll look for the Sharpie! What a sharp-idea! Unfortunetly, for the body color, I dont' have any spare plastic to test on!

Personally I prefer cats, so I have no comments on dog's one way or another. My Dad has a less than 2 year old Irish Setter who is freaking abnoxious, but still love him anyway. I'm much happier with my cat. -
Have You Guys Seen These?!
FujimiLover replied to mikelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nicely done, but why would you purposely build junk? Especially a junked General Lee? I do like the bullet-holed one with the dead guy hanging out! LOL! Need's a Robo Cop action figure next to it, maybe ED-209?
