  1. Let me check first. I have another box put away where I got a bunch of truck parts from someone on here. I may need it for one of them. And thanks for the offer too.
  2. In Thunder Run the gov gets this old man, I think ex military at some point, to drive a truck load of nuclear material to a military base while they ship a fake load by other means. His grandson drives that yellow pick up. Old man outfits that truck with flame throwers by the battery boxes and extends the stacks wayyyyyy above the roof. The VW's have rockets on the roof. That's what the long stacks are for. In the jump pic you can see one is damaged by a heat seeker. Those bars on the front pop open to make a triangular old train type cow catcher to knock stuff out of the way. And yes, they did jump the truck. This was made wayyy before cgi. It had a very long ramp they tried to hide and it got several feet off the ground. Not sure how the trailer stayed on it.
  3. How about the K100 from Thunder Run? Or, the 1975 Kenworth W-900 A VIT from the same movie. First time I ever seen a truck and trailer jump over a trains flat bed. This rig belonged to Gene Schreindl. It's a 1975 Kenworth W-900A powered by a Detroit 8v92 w/ Allison HT754 tranny and a Spicer 4 speed along with 4.11 Rockwell Rears. 300" Wheelbase w/ 120" Double Eagle upholstered in avocado-green diamond-pleat Naugahyde and velor. Included in the back is a wash basin, microwave, color tv, vcr, Panasonic stereo with 8 speakers throughout the sleeper and cab, air conditioner and refrigerator. All this is powered by a Kubota 5kw generator. There is a picture of it on Hank's Truck Pictures in William McCullough w/ a smaller DE.
  4. Welcome, anytime. I was about to apologize when I started reading the I am not connected part. I was not implying that you was in any way other than at some point I recalled seeing the link on your site. Main reason I posted it was because I saw a similar thread in this section. I like the trailer and the idea behind the plot of the movie and the real drag racing action. Being from the south was a plus. Besides it was real, no cgi like in Driven or the many other screw ups like in Days of Thunder. We need a modern day drag racing film. And this just looked good to me. The song goes good with the trailer too.
  5. I think it's all about marketing and distribution as of now, if you check the official website. Dencon has this linked on his home page too. Matter of fact I think I first got it from him.
  6. BCR Ventures 617 Rt 52 Walden Ny. 12586 Placed my first order on Friday night, got e mail confirm order shipped on Mon. got order on Thurs. Just sent in another order on this past Friday night, got e mail confirm Tue. morn. Bet it gets here by Friday. I love the way there shopping cart does not take you to another page and it just pops up and it also runs a tab in the left margin of the page. I got decals and a bunch of other resin and non resin parts. Happy with all of it. Two things that stood out was the slam locks and off road driving lights. Made of real chrome metal and very heavy. I'm sure if you get the refer you will be pleased with it if it turns out like the other parts I got from them. Just ask Highway, he pointed me in there direction some time ago for something that I needed.
  7. Well, don't know how that happened then. I just dug mine back out and it has the wrong hood in it, but, the pic on the box does have the correct hood on it. Oh well, I'll change it when I get to the point I want to finish it up. Since I found all the parts now, I need to buy them up so I can do this project too.
  8. Look at post 11 I made. It has to have the hood with the two depressions or scallops in it. The LRE does not have that hood. IT has the 80's up hood that is flat other than the body line down the middle and on each side. To make the Squad 51 truck you need the '72 to '79 hood with the two depressions or scallops that face each fender.
  9. You can use any cab from the Little Red Express truck or an 70's Dodge truck. The LRE truck does not have the correct hood. IT has the '80 and up hood. You need the '72 to ;79 hood that has the depressions in it. Get the grill and wheels from Dencon. http://www.denconresin.com/wheels.html http://www.denconresin.com/part.html Get the ute box from these guys. Number 98. The whole kit is $99 but if you e mail them, they will sell just the box. http://ssbresins.com/new-parts.php Decals from J Bot. http://www.jbot.ca/cars/ems/squad51.shtml Then you have everything you need.
  10. I saw a post for an indie Hot Rod movie, so I thought I'd post this one and see what kind of reaction it gets. I think it will be a good movie and it's filmed in N. Carolina. Feature Film "SHIFT" Get in, Shut Up & Hold On. Boomer Honeycutt is a drag racer. His lone quest; to escape his father's shadow and become the next Classic Gear Jammers Champion. After separating with his fiancée Tina, he takes refuge sleeping in his van. He awakes after a rough night out to find an eleven-year-old boy on the doorstep and a note from his high school sweetheart welcoming him to fatherhood. Set against the backdrop of stick-shift drag racing in the heart of the South, this is a story about fathers and sons, teaching each other what it takes to be a man.
  11. Welcome, anytime. I thought someone might like to see those and it might inspire a build or two.
  12. IF you need a refer unit Krauts has one, but it's a little pricey for my taste. http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=3&category=4 They have some great stuff though. I'm waiting for my second order so I can get back to work on my trucks.
  13. Here's some links to a show held last month. Hope you enjoy. http://public.fotki.com/Tank33/model_shows/ipms-murfreesboro-t-1/ http://ipmsmt.ning.com/photo/albums/2010-contest
  14. Get your dist. from SMBC or MAD and you want have any trouble wiring them up anymore. http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/mad_distributors.htm http://www.madmodeling.com/store/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=catshow&ref=distributors&sid=fbzx0e3j08kcf1x5s27s98uyqxnp434w
  15. I'll have to post some pics later, but here's a small update for me. On the Paystar the dump bed is complete and shot in aluminum metalizer and then rubbed out and shot with a dull coat to make it look like it's been outside for some time and lost it's shine. I did a test on a spoon before I painted the bed and it looked pretty realistic to me. I saw two pics of the V800 engine in both IH red or a blue metallic paint. So, I did mine in IH red. IT must have something to do with the year model or options as to that engine color. I never could find that out. I added some oil lines to the engine that are the same color as the block. It appears the engine was painted after these lines were installed. I used some outdoor phone wire that was pretty close in color since the engine was already painted at this point. At this time the Diamond Reo has been stripped and cleaned up. Just need to strip the tanks and paint and polish them and then I can begin on the truck. Waiting on a big order from Krauts that should be here by end of the week. Still need to order some more stuff from them so I can fix all three trucks. Still trying to get all my parts rounded up for my Movin On KW. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.
  16. Love those old aero coupes. Think I like the 88 the best. The green and white look good together with that blackout grill work. Besides DW's hometown is about 40 miles from where I live. Sterlin's is about the same distance too.
  17. Thanks. I'll check them out and give em a try.
  18. Looks good. Stance looks good too. What are you using for your wood trim? Mine always turns out pretty dark and with the black interior that I love so much it does not stand out much. Plus I have a Paystar that I am working on and it has Some wood sides on the top of the dump bed that I'd like to make look weathered and as realistic as possible.
  19. OK, here's my Reo kit pics. It's in the pond as we speak.
  20. No problem. It is confusing the way I wrote that and posted the pic now that I look back on it. Stuff gets confused like that on the net vs a live conversation. lol
  21. Yeah, I had one when I was a kid. Nice truck, but it's not even close to what they used in the movie. Wrong wheels, decals, cab everything is wrong. You can build one though if you find all the right parts. The truck I wanted a kit of in that comment was the one of the Dodge in that pic I posted. I did find a resin Dodge finally, but it's not that version. It's an older truck, not sure of the year without doing some research on it though. I got my Diamond Reo in today. As soon as I can get a pic of it, I'll post it on here.
  22. Thanks. Wished I could find a white one for the tire letters. I did finally find a good yellow one for doing lf rr on race car tires. It's just a plain ole Sandford China Marker..
  23. Good movies, I have seen them too, but it's been a while. Where did you get the pen? I've been looking for one and can't find them in white. Also wondering if it would be a good idea to clear the chrome grills before I used a black pen on them. Sometimes it seems like the pens don't get traction on the chrome surface and they skip and miss and at other times they come out perfect.
  24. I can't believe you have not seen this movie. Can't be called a car guy until you have. Best car chase movie ever. 93 car crashes in 45 mins says it all. I've never seen another 45 min car chase in any movie. Much better than a repeating purple Volkswagen and 14 flyin hubcaps off the same dang car. Anyway, for your viewing pleasure watch this trailer. And if you can find one, get the original version. The remastered on dvd has the wrong music and dubbed in engines and that takes away from the whole experience.
  25. Yeah, I would not mind having the air grabber option myself. I can only build so many stock 71's though. I wished they would put out the 73-4 version. A lot of 70's race car fans would love that, but, with this kit you can rob the chassis and put it under the old MPC bodies if you can afford to get one off of e bay. At least they made the upper a arms bigger and more realistic than the ones on the Monaco. I was surprised to see the drag strip dial in times on the decal sheet though.
