How about a set of wide tires on some Mopar Magnum 500's? That's what I had on my 1:1.

Here's a couple quick pics of the Diamond Reo. Engines just sitting in the frame for now. Plenty left to do. That is a Cummins NTC-350 painted Cummins Beige #233 Plasti-Kote Engine Enamel. It's hooked up to a Spicer 16 spd tranny. Was not sure if red was a factory color, but I found Google pic of them in black, grey, and red. Box showed it in red, so that's what I went with.

Looks good. Don has a resin snow plow kit. http://my.inbox.com/photos/escort500xl/index.aspx#

What can I say, newbie in action. lol. IT really did help cause we had some tight spots at both places.
-
Dang, you beat me to it by 2 mins. but I wrote book ... lol.

Aerial, is what they used to call the am antennas. Not sure if the spots are a factory option or not. Highway might know. They are easy add on. Useful for finding street signs and address numbers. Useful for backing into a tight spot too if you can shoot them down the side of the truck. I made local runs and our docks had yellow stripes around them. You could turn a spot down on that yellow stripe to help you see how to center the trailer in the door. If it's not centered the spring loaded dock plates wont fit inside the trailer. You only have a few inches of play on each side, so you need to hit your marks. Can't help you on the mirrors. I don't have a Freight that I am working on and I don't have any of the mirrors ready to go on mine either. Maybe post a pic of your box top and instructions and I'm sure someone can help.

You are correct. That's why I could not figure out what it was and wanted a pic. I've seen that vacuum ball on a couple where it did not belong too.
-
Post a pic. It might be a vacuum reservoir that they put in some of the Mopar kits. Looks like a round ball ??

PM sent.

Actually they used both Belvedere's and Fury's in the movie. They just removed all the trim to make them identical.

I've used the purple pond one some small items before and it seemed to work o.k. I painted a resin tool box that I cut down to use in an ambulance and it did not lay down right and it sat in the pond for days. Wiped it off and washed it under water and it looks pretty good. Have not painted it yet, but I see no damage to it. Even the pin holes are still filled in. If we are not supposed to use it I need to know too. I just threw it in there and it seemed to be o.k.

I used to own a 74 model like this. All black inside and out. I bought it from a sub. teacher. It had a 401 big block with GM ignition, a Motorcraft 4 bbl, A727 Mopar trans with a Dana 60 with 4.11 gears, Mopar springs and the front had the mustang suspension with the coil spring above the A arm. Dang thing would fly. Only thin mine had the opera window instead of the full quarter glass like this one. Cool car. Where can you find a street version of this kit? Only one I have or ever see is the NASCAR version. I thought about trying to build one of those to match my old car, but the interior would be the problem there.

79 Still had the hood with two scallops and it was the only year for quad headlights. Friend of mine owns a real long bed version for years now. That would have to be an 80's up with the flat hood and single lights.

Question. What color is the Spicer transmissions? Red maybe? Since I have the Aerodyne W900 and the Paystar almost finished and the LN Ford started but waiting on paint, I need to start on my Diamond Reo C-116DFL. Mine will use the Cummins NTC-350 inline six with a turbo and a 16 spd Spicer. I don't like the sleeper, so this one will not have one and will get a deck plate in the back. If I can find one somewhere (probably from Krauts) I'm going to replace the squared off aircleaner for a more traditional round one. I think I'll dump the roof mounted A/C unit as well for what I think will make it look a lot better. Now I need to get to the hobby stores and see if I can find some trailers for these rigs, unless someone has a link for some good (cheap) online sources.

That last quote is correct. There where actually some Hemi powered 4 dr Satellites believe it or not. I can take you to one that is factory white 4 dr and Hemi powered. If they ran out of some part on the line they would substitute a better part if it would fit. That's a fact.

Here's the deal on the fans. All small blocks used an unsymmetrical 5 bladed fan unless it got the heavy duty cooling package. Then it got a 7 bladed fan with viscous drive. All big blocks got a 6 or 7 bladed fan. All Hemi's got a 7 bladed fan. All slant 6's got a 4 bladed fixed fan until mid 70's and it picked up a 5 bladed viscous drive fan from the small block. So a 4 blade is correct for your build.

I saw Highways post on the 5th wheel, so you know about that. If you scroll up and look at the KW W900 Aerodyne I posted it has a simple L shaped handle. I used a sharpie on the end of it to make it look like it had a rubber coated area to grasp. The old Mack I used to drive had a little flip piece that was supposed to keep you from unlocking the 5th by accident as if that could ever happen. Then it had this 3 inch little nub that stuck out. No way on earth to unlock that 5th with that thing. I had a piece of pipe that laid on the floor by my seat with one end mashed done to slide up on that little nub. To unlock the 5th, I set the trailer brakes, applied reverse against the trailer and then set the truck brakes. Took all the pressure off the 5th that way. Flipped the safety catch and then slid the pipe over the nub and pulled the pipe towards the cab in an upward motion and it was then released. Marvin had the caddy of all truck. The Freightliner he was driving had everything. He could unlock the 5th from the seat with the flip of a toggle switch. Lucky %&$#*#(*#(. LOL!!

Thanks. I checked the camera and no macro setting. I know something that might have made it look bad. I used the night setting with the flash and it picks up both subject and backgrounds. I thought I'd try it for the low light condition I had inside at the time. Guess I'll go back to the other setting. It does have a full manual setting, but not sure that will help any. Trying to save up for a 15 mp Cannon Rebel EOS dslr. That should do the trick, but the one I looked at the other day was over $600. Might be a while before I get that one.

Thanks for the info. I only drove an old 82 Mack for one year, so I learn a little something new everyday building these trucks. They are starting to grow on me too.

Final pics.

Don't know if you can see them, but the seats also have a lever added to them to adjust the seats and there's a 5th wheel release lever added to it as well. And the engine sports white colored Puralator filters on it.

Here's pic of my KW W900 from Revell. It's not a bad kit and so far it's turned out pretty good and to my liking. Only bad thing is I need some drive tires for it. I used some PE parts for the seat belts from Detail Masters and the cb radio from Sour Krauts. IT may be hard to see in these bad pics (sorry about that) but the back side is gold like some radios and has the antenna lead to the back of it. It's black with a silver face and coiled wired cord. It also has a 3906 Cat and the flash makes the color more shiny than it really is. Still have work to do on this one. It's not finished yet by any means, but here's a sneak peek.

Here's my start on a Ford LN9000 that I need added to my list. And since it's sacraledge to put a Dodge on that Ford truck and it would have never happened back in the day, this one will carry the 69 Ford Torino Talledega for it's load. The 429 has been started in the Torino, but I forgot to take a pic and already put my camera up.

Looks good. Questions. That lubriliner as I have seen it called in the instruction sheets, does that really have two lines to it? My Reo only shows one single line to it. How does it work. Just hold extra oil till the engine needs it like the Moroso Accumulator that we use on our circle track and road race cars? And what is the chrome deal on the frame in the last pic?
