Since I am 3/4 way on the Paystar and it's going together fast, I may add another truck I just picked up today. Right now, I'm just waiting for the last of the detail parts to arrive from Detail Master. I can't work on anything else right now anyways. I tried to get decals from J Bot. They are not taking orders. Must be backed up for Christmas. See, Dear customers: I am trying to respond to all my emails. I am also printing and mailing the decals I still owe to customers. Please dont send orders (or money, or requests) in the mail until I am caught up. I WILL catch up before opening my website again. Thank you. Anyways, my new truck is a Ford with a ramp bed car hauler on the back. Not sure what model it is though. Not a lot of info on the box or instruction sheet. It older than a 9000 but the grill kinda look like one without the gap where the 9000 numbers go. IT also has the round grill work on the passenger side hood of the aircleaner. It has a V8, but not sure it has a lot of good detail while looking over the instruction sheet. Might need another engine for better detail. Was looking at the decal sheet. I bet they are useless. I want to scan them and try to reprint them. I bet some wont show up on a scan though. All the white numbers are faded out. I can see them when I tilt the sheet in the light, but I bet they wont show on a scan. That really stinks cause I need all of them. Any help on engine colors, replacement engine, details, decals would be great. I'll get a pic up when I can along with some update pics on the Paystar.

I aint complaining here, just informing. When you run out and want more red oxide primer, best place to get it is Advance Auto. 5 bucks a can made by duplicolor. There engine paint is made by duplicolor as well. I've used it a on a lot of my stuff. Beware, most engien paint is pretty hot and dries really fast. Make sure to use a good primer under it so it wont hurt the plastic and if you need to strip it, it comes off of primer easier than bare plastic. Don't ask how I know that .... lol. On another note, I hate gray primer. It's always too thin and runs easy. I don't care if it's in a spray can or a gallon can for auto use. I hate it and wont use it on anything.

Thanks. Not too late at all. I'll keep that in mind if the Coke truck wheels don't work out for some reason or I miss the bid on it.

Remove it and paint it with metalizer and rub it out. That will look more like the old chrome tape over plastic grill anyways.

Highway, I'm not sure when they changed, but in the '80's they started moving to plastic fuel tanks. I worked for a Ford and Chrysler dealership for a while. WE have a local place that builds ambulances using Ford chassis cabs and van cabs. The vans came in with a big cardboard piece screwed to the back of the cab with a clear tape section for a window. All of these were diesel and used a plastic tank. I think the dually 1 ton trucks on the lot still had the shiny steel tanks under them at that time, but would eventually move to plastic. Now my '85 Dodge Ram Charger 4x4 has a 30 gallon plastic tank under it un the rear. So maybe this helps or just further confuses. lol.

Please don't hold it against me, I'm kinda a KW fan. But I like the brute tough look of the old Mack's too. I will say this, when I drove the Mack back in 94 i think, Marvin had the first Freightshaker they leased. Boy was it decked out, tilt, telescope wheel, heated mirrors, cab fifth wheel release and the release to slide the fifth plate on the rail. An air ride seat that worked, air that worked, and I don't know what else. It sure was a caddy kind of ride compared to the old Mack he left for me to drive. I asked him one time how many miles wad really on it, he said about 4 million. I said come one, he said 4 million. It had the engine rebuilt on it twice. Still run good. Just rode rough and no power steering. My arms got pretty big wrestling with that thing.

Hot Rod Garage. lol

Thanks for looking. I'll let you know what I decide if and when I get that kit or not. And your right, even though I am not a big Freightliner fan, it looks 10 times better than that Volvo does.

Thanks for the ideas. 60's look wont work for this project though. Has to more modern. Really need those 5 spoke semi trailer wheels.

Thanks for the help. I'll just put a bid on that Coke truck and see if I can get it cheap and use it's tires and wheels if that will work. Let me know if you find anything. If I get this one and use the wheels and tires up, I am sure I'd want to replace them and build it or sell it at some point. Thanks again. Too bad we are not building muscle cars, especially Mopar's, then I could help more .... lol.

Thanks. That makes since about the stretched frames with missing sleepers. I thought about using a 1/32 scale truck or something ,but was not sure if that would scale to what I wanted in 1/25. Is the Coke refer a 1/32 ? Can you still find it? Can I just buy the wheels and tires from some place in the 1/32 scale? Sorry for so many dumb questions, but I have not built a lot of trucks, so I just don't know where to look for parts.

Great vid. I could not place the song title till it started playing. I have not heard that in years. Loved that big Dodge you put in there too. Some nice tv trucks in there too. Not a fan of those stretched frames though. I just don't get it, but I guess that's just me lol. On another note, can you help me on the post I made just above you video? Thanks.

Looks good so far. I'm sure it will turn out great just like your others that I have seen lately.

I need some help with and idea I have. Maybe someone has what I need or knows where I can get them. What I need to pull off my idea is a set of low profile 5 spoke wheels and tires. You know the old Atlas moving vans and other companies used them too. They use the low profile tires and 5 spoke wheels on there trailers and they are low decked, with storage bins under the trailer too. I need 8 low profile tires and wheels just like the ones that are on those trailers. No, I'm not building one of those trailers, but a good guess. lol

Looks good. Looks like a piece from a police car.

Those are just a few of the two orders I placed to Krauts. The parts on the left of the cones are slam locks for the doors. Two types, pull type and bail handle that rotates used on utility boxes. To the right of the cones is a 4 pack of cb antennas. They have a resin base that needs painting and wire metal whips. Guess you can paint them white or silver if you want too. Far right is a package of PE wiper blades including blades for headlights. lol. Just in front of the engine is a grey a/c compressor and one of the cb radios I bought. It had great details on the face, comes with a separate mic and a coiled mic cord. To the right of the engine you'll find a pair of construction hard hats and fire extinguishers. I got some other stuff too that is not in the shot. Did not want to give it all away too soon ... lol. I also noticed on Krauts site that if it says out of stock you can e mail them to see if they can get it for you. Great site, thanks for giving me that link some time ago.

Looking real good. If you don't have a source for a cb radio and antennas yet, check out Sour Krauts. http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/ In the center of this pic you will see the antennas 4 to a pack and one of the cb radios in front of the engine. It has raised knobs a separate mic and a coiled mic cord. These things are great. I can get you a part number and a better pic if you want them. If it shows out of stock on there site, e mail them and they will get you what you need if they can still get them according to there site.

Thanks. Since I took those the other night, I detailed the exhaust manifolds to the turbo to get red of that IH red and give it a rusty cast iron look. Need to angle cut my down draft tube on the end, but I'll do that after install to see how long to leave it. I also made a dipstick for it if it will hold up. I need to get some wire insulation to complete that. I'll dirty it up a bit since it's an in service truck, not a show truck. Still need to install the a/c unit on it too. I also need to paint the wood side boards on the bed and weather them in a bit too. I also painted all the interior pieces except the cab itself. It's strange how all that goes together. Installed the Chrome door handles, window cranks, door pulls and ash trays to the door panels.
-
Looks great. Like the hitch, but it looks a tad big, probably just the pic though. You should post it in the community truck build. They allow service trucks in there. I have three trucks that I am working on in that build. Check it out at least. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37529&st=0

Cool. looks good so far.

I have two of these. I'm going to put the Hemi Dart chassis and drive train under it to solve all these problems.
-
Well, here's a little update. First pic is the bed completed, painted with metalizer and dull coated to look like weathered aluminum. The almost completed engine with the a/c unit sitting beside it. Some of the detail parts from Krauts as well. Next two are engine detail shots and Krauts detail parts in the background. I've got to get he a/c unit on the engine before I can proceed. I think I figured out how to do it if I can find some used up belts and pulleys.

Not sure if you looked through their entire site or not, but I also found the fuel tanks that go under the trailer for your refer fuel. http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=3&category=4&product_id=371

Let me check first. I have another box put away where I got a bunch of truck parts from someone on here. I may need it for one of them. And thanks for the offer too.
