  1. Tell him top join up and show his work. WE have kids to seniors here at all lvls. of experience. I'm not at the top, nor the bottom and I learn something new all the time on here that makes me a better builder. Some give great critique and tell you tricks and help you to improve and come up with ideas you just don't think about sometimes. Heck, just read this thread alone. I only drove a truck for one year and I'm not as knowledgeable about the rigs like some are on here, and as you can see, they answer my questions and help point me in the right direction so I can make mine as accurate and as detailed as I want them to be. It's a great place, so he should jump in here and build something and post it up the pics.
  2. Thanks. That is what I was afraid of. Thanks. That looks similar to the one I found except I got the whole view. The one I found had the correct dash vents and about 12 gauges on the right side going vertical in two columns. Then about 3 or 4 across the dash like in your pic, but where the tach and speedo are, there are two rect. pods on my dash that stick out quite a bit. Looks totally out of place too.
  3. Diamond Reo question. Is the starburst or sunrise deal on on the sleeper doors an option or is it factory on all of them? I don't care for it myself, and thought I might replace it with pieces from a different sleeper or maybe some other way.
  4. Looks good. A little low in the tail for my liking, but it aint finished either. Using painted pin heads for marker lights ??
  5. Looks great for someone that does not like paint and body work. I think your impressing all of us. Great paint job. Something that I need to improve on.
  6. It might have been 23 channel. It was that off white color too. It was a Lafayette brand name. And that last statement, I think I vaguely remember you mentioning it at least once in the past.
  7. Hang in there. That's my hang up too. I hate paint and body work. I used to have a 20 channel CB radio that had a handset like a phone. Had the PTT button in the center of the handle. Little metal clip with a roller on the top end of the receiver to hold it in place. It was pretty cool, but still felt stupid using it since cell phones were still not popular and no one could believe a kid in a Road Runner had a car phone. So, it had to go for a more popular version.
  8. Cool, then I'll keep going. If I can find some wire to make a dipstick tube out of. Everything I have so far is too thin to work. I did finally find a couple of left and right front/side quarter shots. Not very revealing, but better than nothing. Wished I could find a top shot of the engine.
  9. Paystar update. I manged to get this done last night along with painting a lot of other parts that are still on the tree. I know, I'm cheating by starting early, but with three to build, if I don't start now, I may never finish ... lol. This truck alone has more than 300 parts.
  10. My kit dash has 12 round gauges and I have some printed gauge faces and pe bezels that I can use on them. It's just the center two gauges that are squared off and I don't know what to do for a printed face on them. A pic would be very helpful. Thanks for looking. I can't seem to find what I need on Google this time.
  11. Thanks. I'll check that out.
  12. Thanks. Been searching Google for pics and such, but just have not had any luck finding what I need.
  13. Paystar question. Will the ex. pipe really fit between the transmission and the frame? Ive got the engine built and you have to put the engine in place as you build the frame, so I was test fitting and I just don't see how the pipe will go in there after it's assembled. Also, does anyone have a pic of the IH engine? I want to run the lines for the a/c, FI, and air pump and stuff. I want to make it realistic as possible. Maybe some ideas of where to run the air lines from the cans back up to the frame. One last question, on the dash, does it have to digital gauges for tach and speedo? It has two squares in the middle of the dash where these gauges should be. I have some aftermarket gauges and bezels I want to use, but I don't want to put round ones in there if it's incorrect. Thanks for any help.
  14. Don't know, I suppose that is possible. They must be really soft or just not the right size or something. Maybe got hot before you opened the kit and it messed them up. I've got some kits before where I thought heat might have damaged some of it, but just was not sure. You know a 100* + outside and being shipped in a sealed up hot tractor trailer could cause some damage to the kits for sure.
  15. Man, what a blow out. You need to stop overloading that thing or get some tag axles ... LOL!!!
  16. Here's something everyone needs to do this build. Squad 51 decals from J bot. $8 bucks for 1/24. http://www.jbot.ca/cars/ems/squad51.shtml
  17. Thanks. I had seen that, but guess it did not dawn on me that one version might be for the short sleeper ... lol.
  18. The one in the kit is all wrong even for the small sleeper. IT has dual ex. and it has cut outs in the body for dual air cleaners and you can see from your pics that the small sleeper version has singles for both. I think J Bots decals are for the large sleeper only, so I am going to try and do that version. If I can do something about the hood where the air cleaner cut outs are and I can mod the J Bot decals, I may try and make both versions.
  19. OK, here's my kits. I don't have the Reo yet, but it should be in the mail. I know the AMT KW is the wrong one for the MO truck, but I got help on that ( thanks to the ones that helped, you know who you are) and I'll be getting all the correct parts and stuff I need to make it correct for the TV show truck.
  20. Yeah, I found that video by accident. Comments made me laugh too. The Dodge belongs to David Denny. He owns Denny Trucking. From what I saw at his shop looks like a bunch of dump trucks, but he may have others too. He not only owns that Plumb Crazy Purple truck, but he has a shop behind his shop at his house. You could eat off the floor in both of them. The second shop is full of Mopar's. He has several M-22 I think is the number for the military 4x4 Dodge trucks and he has some civilian versions called Power Wagons too. He also has several Hemi 'Cudas and Challengers too. Wished I had pics of them. I have some other pics of that Dodge too if you want to see them. That was the first one I could find in a hurry to post. David's a member of my car club at www.musiccitymoparclub.com There's inspiration for builds on that site too. We keep pics from our Sept. car shows on there if you want to go check them out. We get about 150 to 200 cars a year. Even had Alan Jackson's blue Superbird two years in a row some time ago. Just got my camera out of hte car. I'll get some pics of my kits to post up shortly.
  21. Show off ... lol!! Looks to be the same bed as the one on SSB Resins too. Should work out nice. I need to see if I can still order it separate. If not, I might get the whole kit and use the bed for this and sell the rest or something.
  22. How about this one for inspiration? Some one needs to build this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoMkln-xIHA&feature=grec_index Wished they made a kit for this truck. I'd buy a few.
  23. Rims and tires look good. Might have to track one of these down myself. I have a diecast Cobra I rebuilt to make it look more real, but I don't have any in plastic. Red molding should not make too much difference to me. A good primer will cover it up.
  24. Like the wheels. Can[t wait to see it finished.
  25. Looks good. I know how to fix the scoop too. Take some plastic or aluminum tube the same size as the carb top and insert or glue to the bottom of the scoops carb hole for a spacer. It should not look too out of place. If you put a very small one on the front to match it you can call it an aftermarket piece ... lol.
