  1. Yeah, that's why he sold that Charger on e bay, so he could finish up the filming and editing of the second movie.
  2. If I remember correctly they point to the drivers side. Always remember when your talking about cars, your perspective is always from the drivers seat. That means left is always the drivers side and right is always the passenger side no matter what angle you are looking at the car. You could also mount it on the front where it runs off the came like dragsters do. Here's a pic.
  3. Yeah, I bought that thing for like 10 bucks when I was a kid. I know it was not the right truck, but I still liked it. Wished I could find an R series so I could make one of them I have a link somewhere for a guy that makes all of the correct decals for the truck. My HT has a mack, but it's not right either. It's a day cab and I bet it's a single axle, but I'm not sure. I have not built a truck in a long time. I started in 07 on a Dodge L700 from Lindberg, but that things a piece of ######. The frames and suspension wont line up for starters. And it has enough flash on it to build a second model from it all. If I could find the right trucks and decals there are three that I would really like to build, maybe four. That would be the KW Aerodyne from "B. J. and the Bear", The green KW from "Moving On", the correct Mack from "Convoy" and the '55 Slim Nose Pete from "Duel". I better forget that last one. Even if they made a kit for the truck and trailer, I'd never get it weathered correctly and would probably be disappointed in it. I do have some good pics of it from it's current owner though.
  4. Anytime. And you'll find out that the dist wont fit with the blower in it since it goes in the front on a Ford. They made angle adapters and such to mount them on the real thing. So it wont look so out of place if you have to mount it at an angle behind the blower belt.
  5. That's a start. Keep us posted.
  6. By the way, stock Ford uses blue cap and black wires. You could go blue cap and yellow wires for Accel performance plug wires, or red wires for Mallory, or Blue for Moroso or MSD.
  7. Get your dist. from here. They look more like the real thing than what my Hobby Town carries. http://scalemodelingbychris.com/mad_distributors.htm You can use wire to connect both throttles on both carbs together and then run another wire to the fire wall to the carbs once the engine is installed for the throttle linkage. Once you install the new dist in the hole in the block you can run the wires between the headers where the spark plugs go. There's [ics on this site of the engines and how they are wired up.
  8. Anytime Joe. I have a copy of that movie. Even got it signed. They held Dukesfest in Nashville at the race track I run at for a couple years in a row. John took over doing the show and moved it to Ga. though. Did John ever get the second movie made Collier and Co. ?? Would not mind getting my hands one a copy of it when it's available since I have the other one. It's not a flick, but the comedy part was not that good. I think it would have been better if it was done a little more serious with the story line he had going. At least made a more believable chase scene out in the orange grove.
  9. Not bad. Throw a wired dist. in there and some linkage pieces and it'll look like it's ready to hit the streets.
  10. Do you have a Hobby Town U.S.A. somewhere near by? They have a big R/C dept. in ours, but I don't venture over to that side much. They might have what you need. Check there web site and see if they have anything listed on there and they have a store lo cater too. Worth a shot.
  11. Here's a good movie to copy a bunch of old trucks from. I used to have the Mack, but it was the wrong model compared to the one used in the movie though. http://www.imcdb.org/movie_77369-Convoy.html
  12. Primer is always a great base for some black paint after a light scuffing up you know. Easy to change your mind that way.
  13. I've been using that site some lately. When I got back into modeling late '07 I got into this kick of building movie and tv cars and such from my favorite movies and tv shows.
  14. That's the one they painted to look like a blue stock car in one of the other episodes if I am not mistaken. I think Johns is Hemi Orange. Hard to tell from the pics though. Here's the link, you decide. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/general-lee-charger/230758/
  15. Yeah, I remember that too. I can't remember which episode it was, but one of the Duke boys walks into the house with one color plaid shirt on and when he enters the door on the interior shot, he's got a different color shirt on. lol.
  16. 59, remember the first show? It opened with a jump of Roscoe Chasing the GL. They used it for the opening credits for a long time too. In slo moe, right when the tire first hits the ground, you can watch every fender, door, and quarter panel just shimmer and shake as the crash landing continues in slo moe. What a shot. I recently found a copy of Top Gun in the 5 dollar dvd bin at wally world and watched it too. You can watch the wheels when one of the Tomcats hits the carrier deck. That thing looks like it almost fell off. It took a 30* right turn when it hit the deck and you could watch the landing gear just shake and quiver too. That was another good slo moe close up shot.
  17. Agree. Well said. And that site is wanting to draw a certain crowd, so it's prefect for them. No one has to join or even agree with them for them, for them to get together on there own site and enjoy there part of this hobby. It's up to them to build the kind of site they want to build, just as it's up to you if you care to join or not. It's your decision, your not forced to join or even look at it if you don't like.
  18. It was somewhere around the 350 mark. It's not as many as everyone thinks. BUT, it's still too damned many for an antique car that will never be reproduced again. It's too bad they don't have a standard sort of race car/stunt car chassis that you could hang any kind of fiberglass body on. They way, most of the time you just tear up fiberglass and you can cgi the crash to make it look right on the tv or movie. It's not that hard to do these days. I've got all the DOH season dvds they have out now. And the R/T emblem is not the only screw up they show from time to time on those cars. Some have chrome all around the roof section. That means that car was originally a vinyl top car. I saw one episode where the car has a '68 Charger LF fender on it cause they did not take the time to pull the round marker light out of the fender. Some were painted Mopar Hemi Orange a factory color and some were painted hugger orange. Some had no back seat in them and some had extra roll bars you could see in the car. Probably a stunt car they used in a scene. There's one shot in Ga. on the square when they get chased around by Roscoe, you can see a GL parked in a parking space on the left side of the square. There's so many screw ups I could do this for an hour or so. I actually like to watch movies to find the screws up from time to time though ...lol.
  19. Yeah, they used just about any engine that came in the car they bought at the time. I was just merely going for the story line used in the show. In all the tv shows you can't see enough of the engine to tell what it is. Most of the time it's just an air cleaner shot or it's too dark to see detail. Think they did htat on purpose too. There's one shot in one of the reunion shows where you can clearly tell it's a small block though.
  20. Colors off, but the wheels look great. And they never came with a silver sway bar. That question has been asked so many times in Mopar mags over the years. All Mopar sway bars are black. Should put the 440 in it if you are going for realism. Never says what engine is in it in the TV series, but there's one shot of the engine in the barn on a hoist before they went looking for a body in one episode. You can clearly see it's a big block, but not a Hemi.
  21. Just need to find an old 'convoy' Mack truck model. They show up on e bay from time to time. Then you'll have the duck. Just paint it silver for the death proof car instead of gold for the convoy truck. Wonder why they stole that duck from that movie anyways.
  22. You know what else it needs? A set of traction bars. Nothing says street car like a $20 dollar set of Lakewood traction bars that never seemed to provide any extra traction on the real cars.
  23. Where do you see a Ford ?? That's a '41 Willy's coupe gasser with a 426 Hemi. The rest are all Chevies.
  24. I'll run for a c note. lol!!
  25. Bag of concrete for his new shoes.
