  1. What kind of chalk and where can I find it? Is it something I can find in the art section of a hobby lobby? And if I fade the black with the chalk, how can I get the same effect with the white sections on a semi gloss white if I use that instead of the primer? Trying something new here, so I have some dumb questions to ask. lol.
  2. This is about the best pic of the truck that I can get so far. Having use my digital camera to take pics off the tv screen.
  3. I have a truck in the works. A work truck. Needs to be faded out, but otherwise well kept up. I recently used some white primer on some headers for a 40 Ford circle track car I am working on. Not too flat, not too shiny. I have some Ford semi gloss black. It seems to be a little more shiny than what I want. I'm thinking about using the two to get the faded two tone black and white paint job I need. What do you think? Better way to get the results I want?
  4. Really? Mine has them starting out at way over $100 bucks. I aint talking about a hand held type either. I'm talking about the floor type that has the adjustable arms and the glass is about 8" across and has a circular FL tube in it. I'd take a smaller type to fit on a desk with a clamp if I could find one of those on a the cheap.
  5. I've got some detail masters and I don't like them. Way tooo much work to assemble. I just got a set similar to the ones in the pics above, but mine are black. Two pairs to a package. I don't like the cam lock as much as I do the original latch and link styles used in almost all race cars. I found out the detail masters photo etched parts are the same size as the the ones in my kit like the photos above. So I'm going to make mine latch and link after all. I also ordered some belts that are silk screened on fabric. Hoping to use the detail master etched parts onthos as well.
  6. Wont be the correct scale. The MPC Super Bee is a 125 ,but the console is not correct for your car. The shifters would be. Nice thing is, you have three left over, so you can still build the Bee.
  7. You can find 4 different stock or Hurst shifters in the new MPC '70 Super Bee kit.
  8. Did not even think about that. They have some around and there's yard sales too. Seems like only time I have it on my mind is when I am a store though. I guess I'll just have to make it a point to go searching at some point.
  9. That's what I thought. GM gas burner with a Pete nose on it. Would still like to fake a V8 diesel for it cause it has the big rig tires and air cleaners on each side of the cab. Was going to build ducts to both of them and to the throttle body on top of the V8. I used some of the tow truck stuff on another build since the bed was missing and will make a bed for this one. Want to make an emergency vehicle out of it.
  10. Thanks. That helps a bunch. I have a tow truck that has Pete on the grill, but it looks like a gm gas burner. I'm going to try to make it look as much like a diesel as possible. When I got it, the wrecker bed was missing, so I am going to build a scratch box to go on the back and make it into an emergency vehicle painted in fire engine red. I need to find a truck axle to go under it though. The one in the kit looks more like a quick change than a truck axle. Would be nice if it had a small pin on both ends so I can mount the tires just like in the kit. Needs to be 2 5/8" wide at the pins or 2 6/16th from backing plate to plate. Fits a 1/25 scale model midnight cowboy wrecker.
  11. What color is correct for a V8 Detroit diesel? I'm not sure of anyone else that made a V8 for a large truck other than Detroit.
  12. I used fishing line. It gets hot fast and then breaks. It also cuts too wide a path for my taste. Was trying to cut the fenders to make a flip front and it was not as close a cut as I would have liked. Pretty much made a mess. Thread will work too, but it's really slow and breaks easy. Would be nice to use it stretched between a mini hack saw frame though. You can clamp it between two hemostats and mount the body and just move the thread back and forth.
  13. I noticed they put the stock dash in it instead of the Rallye dash and gauge cluster.
  14. Read this. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...ow+to+post+pics I think you just used the wrong line when you was trying to use photobucket
  15. Link no good.
  16. Her name is Nathalie Kelley, and she's not Asian either. Nathalie Kelley was born in Lima, Peru to a Peruvian mother and Argentine father.[1] She moved to Sydney, Australia. She dreamed about being an actress when she was 13 years old, and coincidentally attended the same school as Nicole Kidman; North Sydney Girls High School on Sydney's north shore. When she was 16 she became a salsa dancer which helped her get the money to finish education. Also "The Miss Latin America competition" earned for her a much-needed $1,000 and the next thing she took a year off and went to Brazil. The things Kelley saw there prompted her to shun show business and come home to launch herself into a social science degree. She studied Politics and International Relations at the University of New South Wales, and also worked as a volunteer with indigenous Australian youth in the inner-city suburb of Redfern before moving to Los Angeles and becoming an actress. Kelley began her acting career with the lead part in a WB pilot Mermaid, a spin-off of the hit television series Charmed starring Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs. In 2006, she appeared in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift alongside Lucas Black and Bow Wow. She has also appeared in several commercials such as the one for "Schick Quattro". In 2007, she appeared in Loaded alongside Jesse Metcalfe. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=N...amp;btnG=Search http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathalie_Kelley
  17. I did not look through these, but take a look and see if they help. http://www.kaiserwillys.com/ http://www.willysonline.com/default.htm
  18. Here's some Mopar pics I took at today's Hunter Custom Auto Expo in Nashville,Tn. These are posted on my site cause they are just easier to do. You don't have to register to see them, but I wished you would anyways. Great bunch of guys in there as well as here and we can all use more friends, right? Hope you enjoy the pics, I have more to post, but I'll put them up later and start another topic since there will be rat rods, customs and all sorts that I know a lot of you can use for reference. Enjoy. http://moparperformancechat.forumotion.net...ow-t223.htm#899
  19. I tried HT today and they had no clue what it was. I'll check a local hardware store later and see what I can come up with. On this project the glass looking a little weathered will be fine, but I need to get that paint or decal off of it for sure.
  20. I just bought two new pair of Hemostats from Northern today. And the reason is I noticed a difference in first pair I bought the other day. On the link I posted they show a 5" and 12" pair. Both of mine are 5" length. One has a narrow longer needle nose and the other one is shorter nosed, clamps stronger and has smooth jaws where the more needle nose pair has groves. So I went back and bought another pair of ea type. So if you want these, you should look them over at the store or ask before you order online cause my local store had both types of jaws just tossed in a bin together.
  21. That would be cool as long as you could vary the power of the light too. I don't need to go blind ... lol. I wanted one of those lighted magnifying glasses too. I looked at some at local stores and none of them start off less than $100 bucks. I don't want one that bad.
  22. Well, you could always sand or grind them down and get some clean jaws if you need too. Just another thought.
  23. I'd get some Hemostats from Northern Tool and Equipment or a medical supply store along with several sizes of small forceps too. They are stainless steel so you can use them to hold parts by hand when painting and just wipe them off with thinner. The hemostats also lock in a closed position too and come in different sizes. You can use these to hold the parts at the bend and then use another tool to bend the part. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...matchallpartial
  24. Thanks. I'm going to a car show Saturday and on the way back I'm going to stop at Hobby Town and see if they have it. Mike keeps more stuff at HT than I can ever find at Hobby Lobby even if it is a little higher priced at times.
