  1. Look at this compressor http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=prod...&lpage=none My Wal Mart has one on sale for $65. I gave just under a $100 for it a few months ago at Lowe's. It's a little noisy, but otehr than that it works great. And with the tanks there's no surges. And you get a cool nail gun. I used mine for the first time last weekend and the nail gun works great too.
  2. Cannonball Run 1 http://www.imcdb.org/movie_82136-The-Cannonball-Run.html Cannonball Run 2 http://www.imcdb.org/movie_87032-Cannonball-Run-II.html
  3. Nice start. Like the trailer too. That scratch built ?? I've got one I am working on. It's half scratch. It'll have torsion bar axles under it. I plan on putting a set of those under one of my race car trailers at some point. They are supposed to ride good.
  4. You can look over the progress pics at the link below if you like. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry188851
  5. It's the '50's, no such thing as safety. Most of those cars did not have roll bars and some was just 2x4's. Race helmets were hard leather football helmets too. Yeah, the seat belts are screen printed onto fabric. I thought I'd try them on something. Look back up there, I added one more pic.
  6. I finished this up a couple months ago, but my pc went down. I'll finsh this up and post the rest under glass. Here's the resin boat tank and battery box I added to the rear. I also plumbed the tanks and wired the battery, just not in this pic. I took this pic at the HB contest. Can't see it here, but the dist is wired not only to the plugs, but a ground wire from the coil to the dist. for the points and a wire from the coil back to the firewall for power from the switch and the starter is wired as well.
  7. Nice. I Just started on one of them last night. It's going to take some work to get it to look correct as you have already found out. The roll cage in that thing is awful. If I can't find a decent donor, I'm going to build one from scratch. What paint did you use for the Red,White, and Blue ?
  8. In the '80's, but I can't give you an exact date.
  9. If it's an old school car you can use the amber turn signal paint and give it that yellowish tint, or thin it down to make it look like old worn out head lights.
  10. Nothing special about it. Just put them on the cap the same way you do a dist. http://www.topcatautosports.com/MVC-101F.JPG http://www.hotrodscustomstuff.com/Red%20Impala/redimp08.JPG
  11. I hate that combo kit. Mine had so much flash on it, it was unbelievable. Several pieces did not line up correctly either. Mine was even missing halve the flat head block for the 40 Ford. Made no diff though. I threw a 312 Thunderbird engine in it and made a '50's era race car out of it. The trailer was the only thing I did like about it. It went together just fine. I threw the cab back in the box and that's where it will stay till I am no longer mad at it or get real creative.
  12. I remember having one of those when I was a kid. Liked what you did with it. Looks much better with your detail.
  13. It's not a '49 though. The head lights are wrong for a '49. The glass part of the light sits inside the fender opening on a '49. A '50 has the big chrome on the outside of the fender with a bigger looking bubble to the glass on the head light. You can compare it to the one they used in the movie Cobra. While that car shows an awsome 50 lic. plate, it's a '49. They do show pics of a made up '50 dash in that movie though, but I am sure it's just sitting on the bench so they could manipulate the speedo. They show only very tight shots of it.
  14. Model round up has a cheap cage for about 5 bucks if you don't want to build one from scratch.
  15. I always loved that line from that movie and just the way he said it too. And sure is the truth too. lol. By the way, Nice Ford.
  16. Have not heard of that one. You can pick up the L700 with a 40 Ford and build either the short or long trailer and pick up the Red Wagon separate if you want to do one now.
  17. Model Round Up has some 6 lug in there race car stuff, but I have not seen any 8 lug wheels.
  18. I don't think it was the sitting underground that did it. They wrapped it in plastic with some rust coatings, but the vault seal leaked and there was a couple feet of water in the bottom of the vault when they opened it up.
  19. All that just makes sense there. The only thing that made me ill was Bumble Bee and all the other GM stuff in there. Wonder what part twp will be like next month when it comes out? And funny we brought up COE lately. I just saw a white Feight CEO on the way home this morning with a gas tanker on the back. IT looked pretty rough too, but it was moving right along. So I guess that makes the total 3 in the last ten years or so. lol.
  20. Yeah it did, but at least I can understand that one. It would be pretty hard to find a COE in decent shape these days. I've seen 2 still on the road in the last 10 years or so and they looked really rough. What really ticked me off was using the camaro for Bumblebee. You can find old and new VW's everywhere. Kind of a cult collectible. Heck, there's a yellow one right down the road from me. I'd like to get it and strip it's body and build a tube type dune buggy out of her.
  21. I think I'd go with a clear jug. That's what most shine runners use, but don't ask me how I know it. And you could put water or the real stuff in a clear jug depending on how realistic you want to get with it. lol.
  22. That's not a bad idea. I have judged several different classes in real car shows before. Even had to break some very close ties too. I don't that happens a lot though. And when I judged in a class that I had a car in, I would have to step back and take no part in it. That's how the real car shows do it around here. I'd even step back if my brother had a car in the show, even though I did not have to. I just thought it was fair. I guess I came down on the race car cause they gave it all three awards. 1st for the class, best of show, and what ever the HT trophy was. You can't tell a lot from the pic, but it's not period or even race car correct. Short tracks wont allow scoops or cowl inductions like that. It has a 2000 something chassis and cage pieced in it. Other than a good paint and decal job, it just aint much compared to others in that class. Even the two Fords have tires too big. but they are more accurate for the era and what would be allowed by rules. Even my 40 Ford is spot on, but the paint is not as nice as others, but I did it that way for realism. There's just other cars that should have placed over that car in my opinion. I looked at that Impala again, it even has missing trim on the LF fender. Did not notice that before. And thanks for the comment on the Willy's. I showed that last year and won, but I decided to show it again cause I did some updates that can't hardly be seen in the pic. I added the driver with the correct uniform and helmet with air cleaners on it. Added the chute lines and other small details that I did not have finished the first time it showed. It gtets to rest on my shelve now. I did that car from the movie "Hot Rod"
  23. Wow, that looks almost real. Then that pic with lighter. Great job on the mini.
  24. Model. No openings in the grill work.
  25. Wraith is like a ghost or evil spirit first off. The story this new kid (C. Sheen) shows up in a town thats run by thugs that drag race you for pinks and cheat to win at all cost then take your car. You find out that a kid was killed years ago cause he was with a girl that the head thug wanted. The gang starts getting killed off by a strange car that no one knows anything about. All but one member gets killed off cause he was not involved in the killing though. I'll leave out the ending in case you want to find a copy on Amazon. It's a good movie. The car is called a Turbo Interceptor in the movie. It's actually an Indy Pace Car built by Dodge in the late '80's. It has a PPG carbon fiber body on a tube chassis and painted in color shifting PPG metallic gray paint. If you look real hard you can see the Chrysler star molded into the front end. It's powered by a 2.2 turbo with a Cosworth head. I've got some pics if you want them.
