  1. Never heard of it. In case I can't get anywhere with alcohol, where can I find this stuff at?
  2. Thanks. I'll give that a try.
  3. I need to remove what I thought was a decal from a windshield glass. I think it's paint though. I managed to get one scratched off with my thumb nail without scratching the glass, but that was not easy to do. Is there some way to get this off without damaging the glass??
  4. It's an Aprils fool joke, so get over it. IT belongs everywhere, including here cause that is what April 1st and fools day is all about. Having fun and laughing at something. And one more reason it belongs here, it's the general section, that pertains to everything, not just modeling. Did you vote for that looser? I know me and the people from Tn. did not.

  6. Hope Al Gores Happy Now. Monday, March 30 12:00 AM ET Fifteen Patients Die as Earth Hour Kills Life Support in Hospital By Brian Briggs San Francisco, CA – Fifteen patients on life support and in surgery died at San Francisco General Hospital when power was cut for "Earth hour" on Saturday. The hospital was pleased with their participation in the worldwide celebration of the planet. "We asked all the patients and their families if they were all right with us cutting the power. To a person, they all said as stewards of this planet it was their duty to observe Earth Hour. They knew the risks and were willing to take it," said hospital administrator Lawrence Cho. Cho said that it was a net gain for planet Earth, despite the deaths. "The dead patients will no longer use any energy, and actually will be turned into energy in our patient incinerator," said hospital administrator Lawrence Cho. As power was cut in the critical care ward some patients screamed in pain, others died calmly in their sleep. Cho said that most of the medical equipment has battery-powered back up systems, but those were disabled, because hospital officials felt that violated the spirit of Earth Hour. Related News Heart surgeon Dr. Gregory Morris was doing an open-heart procedure when the lights went out. "I wasn't sure what I was cutting into. Turns out it wasn't his heart, but his bowels. Unfortunately, Mr. Simms didn't make it." Marla Tompkins, surviving sister of cancer patient Warren Tompkins, said, "Warren struggled for breath as his ventilator was powered down. I thought he might make it, but with three minutes left before power was to be turned back on, he expired. It was tragic, but kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time." Cho hopes other hospitals learn from the example of San Francisco General and participate in next year's Earth Hour.
  7. I'd say that was a good idea ... lol.
  8. Thanks for letting me know. IF you ever need a reference pic of an old Mack like that, we have a restored firetruck like that Mack in our town. I need to go get a pic of it anways. Not sure what years it was used here though. They restored it years ago and built it's on display room on the side of the main fire hall where it once worked out of.
  9. The deal with black cars is that it absorbs heat, makes you run the a/c and burn more energy to cool your car. It's that carbon emissions bull ###### that they are talking about. Just another way to ruin your life. Guess they never thought that the miles of black asphalt heats up the air and surrounding buildings during the day making you run that a/c more often. You can read the article here on my site. http://moparperformancechat.forumotion.net...k-cars-t211.htm
  10. No you don't. Amazon for 10 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/Cherry-2000-Melanie-...5898&sr=8-1
  11. Love that old Mack. I found a copter on a site that does emergency equipment and bought it. It has a shaft drive to the rear rotor so it's a little newer model than the one I want to build. The one I want to build had a chain drive to the rear tail rotor. Is that chain on the Mack a cast part or did you make it? Either way, I'd like to make one. Do you have any clue how I might make a chain for the drive?
  12. I tried Wally World paints before and it don't work for me. Always ended up with specs in the paint. Not sure if it was dirt on the cans of paint, paint specs that fell out, even though it was properly shaken up. Just made a mess and always ended up stripping it and started over. I spray everything with engine paints, duplicolor, testors, and such. Spray everything, even little parts. They just look better. Then I remove them from the runners with a sprue cutter and trim them up and if they need it touch them up.
  13. That 40 is o.k. but I like the 37 I found at the top of the page a lot more. Of course I like Blue and Red, just has the wrong number and make .... lol Both a great builds. Did you use the Thunderbolt bulge to make the hood on the 37? Looks like it to me. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18492 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18436
  14. I must have missed that one. Where's it at and I'll go take a look at it.
  15. Hey, that aint no laughin matter right there. That 700 is a steaming pile of horse ######, or at least the one that I have. As for pink, that's what paint is for. Believe it or not, that coupe there it's painted old Ford engine blue. It's engine paint. So the car matches the engine under the hood .... lol.
  16. I'd go ahead and cut it up. You wont learn how if you don't do it. I'm not the best at it for sure, but I've done it before and it turned out pretty good. I wanted to build a replica of a race car that I drove that belonged to a friend of mine. I found an old Chevelle in a junk box. Only prob was the hood was cut out for a blower. I had a piece of balsa that I glued right into the center of the hole. Filled it with green putty on both sides and worked it out pretty good. Shot enough red oxide primer on there that it covered up what ever flaws I left behind and it turned out pretty good. Been like that for almost a year now I guess. I'll have to post up a pic of it sometime. It's truly a scrap box save.
  17. I'm going to keep this one kind of old school. I'm going to put a single roll over bar in in it. Pretty much the old upside down V and a bar that goes over the seat to hold it up. Leaving the bench seat in it too. Thinking about trying to fab up some belts to tie around the door post to keep the doors closed. Need a dummy with a leather foot ball helmet for the driver if I can find one. That would really set the tone for the project. This car came out of the Lindberg kit with the Dodge L-700 tractor and flat bed. Has to be the crappiest kit I ever got my hands on. Dash detail for the car is just not there. That car originally had a flat head in it before I put the 312 in it. As for that tractor in that kit, it stinks too. Flash everywhere and nothing lines up right. The trailer turned out pretty nice but I stopped mid way on the tractor. Even the front axle wont sit under it straight. Oh well, I digress.
  18. Tom, glad you like the beginnings of my 40 race car. Here's a link that shows you step by step how to post pics. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...ow+to+post+pics
  19. Yeah, it's a blower motor, but not a chevy. It's a Mustang GT500KR. Still going to keep the finished project a secret though .... lol.
  20. Can you guess what it is on my bench? I know, the pics are not the best, but I messed with it longer than I wanted too trying to get the pics to turn out better and gave up. I actually left the floor pan the way it came out of the box instead of painting. I liked the somewhat carbon fiber look of the fuel tank and shields so I let it be. I think it will play in to the car that I am trying to build. I just don't want to give it away yet as to what this ride will be.
  21. I hoped to be further along with this project by now, but it took some time collecting up the parts. Should go into paint this weekend if I am lucky. It's a '49 Merc of course and it's sporting the '54 Ford Y block that came with the kit. As far as I can tell the Y block is the only Ford with the dist. in the rear. Since the car I am building never showed an engine this one will work out o.k.
  22. Here's a Little Red Express truck that I started about a week ago. Just need to paint the engine and body and it's almost done.
  23. Here's one I have had on the bench for a long time. Hope to finish it soon. It's a '40 Ford asphalt car. In some of hte pics you can see where I turned loose the pin vise to add holes for lightening up the chassis and straight axle. It's a got a '50's version 312 Thunderbird engine in it and will sport three deuces. And in one shot you can see the 3 break drums it will run. Don't need one on the RF since that will help aid it in a left turn. Used mostly on dirt track cars and older cars with drum brakes and bad handling.
  24. Nice looking truck.
