best wax for final buff out?
moparfarmer replied to foxbat426's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use Meguiar's cleaner or Scratch X then their Gold Class paste wax. Used Meguiar's on my 1:1 for at least 25 years and now use it on models. There are others but Meguiar's is still the best. Each to his own. If you buy from an auto store you will have enough for the rest of your life. -
Ray, they all look great. Especially that Black 32 three window coupe. The paint is killer and its a super clean build. Nice street rod.

1/25 Galaxie Ltd. '46 - '48 Chevrolet Aerosedan
moparfarmer replied to MikeMc's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Doc, I always wondered what was in that kit. Because of your "Unboxing" I will have to buy one of these cars and the newer one coming out. Will I ever build it? probably not due to my skills but was sure nice to see whats inside. Thanks Doc. -
The Caprice PPV is smaller than both the Charger and the Taurus. I know the police like big vehicles with lots of room for equipement and I don't know if the Chevy does it. Also place of manufacture is in question. Most departments/states/provinces like to buy North American built. Especially for parts if needed.

Dads '32 Chevrolet "barn find" Update 7-23-12
moparfarmer replied to The70judgeman's topic in Model Cars
Andy, that is something you can pass down to your son or grandson. Keep it the way it is, not only for nostalgia sake but to help remember the good times you had with your dad. Its something you will never forget. -
Thats a good easy to build kit that builds up nice. Pretty much on. Go with Medium Burnt Orange K-5 color code I think.(could be wrong though) White and burnt orange interior. Straighten out the "A" pillar and cut out the window post.Work carefully and it builds up into a clean car.

Richard Petty 1981 Dodge Mirada...the car that never run!
moparfarmer replied to Plasticfanatic's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Yeas your right. The race I thought was the Ontario race. I'am sure the Magnum is a Stacey car though. -
Richard Petty 1981 Dodge Mirada...the car that never run!
moparfarmer replied to Plasticfanatic's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Following this through, I learned something. I knew that Junior Johnson put together a Mirada for Darrell Waltrip to test but it didn't go as expected, but I didn't know the Petty's did too. Just think what might have been if the Mirada turned out to be the thing. That #5 Magnum driven by Neil Bonnett won it last race in Phoenix I think. Might be wrong on the track. -
1962 Pontiac Grand Prix Conversion
moparfarmer replied to Fabrux's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
In MrObsessive's story he posted it said that bubbletops were used on Chevrolet BelAirs and Impalas in 1962. I've never seen a 62 Impala bubbletop. As for Pontiac Grand Prix, the convertible style roof was on the 62. The formal square roof was on the 63/64 models. Look it up on Google. Its easy to find. -

Model car club failure....
moparfarmer replied to modelmike's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
We run a model club in Winnipeg(Winnipeg Model Car Club) and its tough to keep it going. Hall rental, although we get Eastern Chrysler cafateria for meetings which I have the key to the dealership. Problem is when I cannot go or been out late the night before, I can't give the key to anyone. It makes for no meeting that month. Most of our members are not well to do people and really count on this day out. They are destitute/on welfare/disability/ or fixed income that can't afford much. We, four of us usually put money towards draw prizes etc to try and make some profit. Its hard doing it but I do my part for the guys who like the outing. We have no Roberts Rule for meetings and are very casual. Meetings are models on table/discuss models on table and BS after. We usually stay for two or three hours depending on attendence. We have 25 members on a full day with general attendance about 12-15 people. Its a fun time and I enjoy it most of the time. -

Very clean and well done Frenchy. You've built a Chrysler. I thought you were a Chevy guy? Again very nice build. -
Very impressive and super clean build as you usually do. Nice job.........

a little humor for your weekend.
moparfarmer replied to Mercman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When building if you don't have a turntable to play records you can always listen to Sirius Satellit hits of the 70s. Channel 7. Yesterdays rock on Channel 25 is good too. All you need is a subscription. I pay $14.95 per month and its worth every penny. Sure brings back the memories. I do not work for Sirius or not an advertisement. Its not even spam as far as I'am concerned. -
Your PT looks okay. Sure hope my last ride isn't in the back of a PT Cruiser though.....LOL...

any clubs close to South Dakota?
moparfarmer replied to wraith's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Darrick, there is a club in Minneapolis but I think there might be some interest around the Mankato area. You'd have to snoop around to find out. The big show in Minneapolis but on by the RPM Modelers is May 20,12. Its called the NNL NORTH and Bill Lindig is a member who could possiby give you information on it. You'd have to google the RPM model club to find out information and contacts. How about starting a club in Sioux Falls? There has to be some modelers there. I know they are car crazy in that city as I've shown there many times over the last 10 yrs. -
What's your preference?
moparfarmer replied to cotto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I enter a lot of 1:1 car show and have won my share of trophies,Best of Show,Best Interior,Best stock appearing engine,Best paint and all. Even went undefeated at Mopars in the Park during the mid 90s with my 64 Fury Convertible. You can have all the trophies/plaques you want, the best would be a Magazine shoot and over the top would be a cover shoot. Just didn't happen. Now it on to models which I will never get even a picture in a magazine because "Box Stock" doesn't get too many shoots.
