when im not building models
moparfarmer replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Any dog is a good dog if its trained properly. If you train it to be a guard dog then it will do that, and most everyone will be scared of it. The dog knows that. Make sure its people friendly, or it will cost you lots and maybe the dogs life. -
What Type of Modeler are you??
moparfarmer replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mostly a box-stock type of build. No wires or plumbing etc, don't have the patience or dexterity since my stroke in 1998. Love to paint and do the nice finishes though. Thats the fun part to me. Don't like doing glass or some chrome bumpers or installing chassis. Guess that doesn't leave to much of the model eh?...... -
Like him or not, Darrel is quite a personality. Tonight he was inducted into NASCAR's hall of fame. Quite an accomplishment for ol DW. Boogity,Boogity,Boogity.................

Thats an incredible piece of work. Not big on those wheels but they actually work real good with your set up. This is going to be Bitchn when its finished. Will stick out like a sore thumb at contests. It WILL get noticed. Like the root beer color with some kind of tan suade interior. Very well done.

kitbash camper
moparfarmer replied to bbowser's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
A racer here in Winnipeg had a light blue one like yours in the mid 60s with what I can remember the same style of camper. Had a big block Chevy in it, and they used to pull a sprint car to Grand Forks N.D. every friday night . He later sold it to a friend of mine, Craig Beischer, who used it to go to the races every week for years to come. Its still sitting in his back yard. He has since died and his son owns it now. He's started to fix it up, and will travel to Motocross races with it like his dad did. He says it will bring back memories and its a bit nostalgic. Yours looks real sweet. You've done a very good job. Be proud and don't be afraid to try something different.......... -
Sweet looking squad. How does this match up size wise to Lindbergs Charger? I know the real Taurus is smaller than the Charger squad and the Chevy is even smaller.....

To All The Friends Out There!

Got an email from a friend in Australia. He is still here and so is the world. It would have happened there before here. Guess we're safe....... -
Joshua, I use exclusivly Duplicolor from an auto parts store, straight from the can. Two dustings then a little heavier. It comes out smooth but not like glass. Clear coat from Duplicolor and then wet sand and polish. Spray clear same as paint. I use 2000 wet but some(many go to higher grit)then I I polish out with Meguiars cleaner(maroon bottle) followed with their Gold class paste or Scrtch X. Lacquer over enamel is a NO NO every time. I've always stayed away from Krylon as its super hot. With my paint I warm them up with warm water then spray. Don't use boiling water. Could make for bad accident(explosion, with paint everywhere) Hope this helps in some way with your questions.

I'am not Dan, but it looks painted, and a fine job too. I think the white is too bright to be polished plastic. Dan, you did a very nice clean build of a favorite of mine. I own a 1964 Fury convertible with a 426 Street Wedge in it. Mines white/blue. I like your build very much. Looks very nice.........Sweeeet!

Real sweet job on your car. Color combinations and with the white interior it really stands out. That red strip was not common but makes good contrast with the grey body color. A very clean and nicely built model you should be proud of...........

Congratulations on your anniversary. Wife and I have been hitched for 38 yrs. I've spent more time with her than my original family. On another topic relating to you. How about posting some pictures of that street rod in your avatar? Looks pretty nice in the small picture. How about some large ones of it? Thank you. -
Very nice looking car. Sinister in dark green. Is Krylon clear a lacquer or enamel? and did you shoot it out of an airbrush or straight from the can? Sure looks like the clear polishes up real good. Very clean and well done Mopar.

WILD, I like it. A nice candy gold or tangerine with very light beige interior. Thats gonna be killer and will be noticed on all the tables it graces in its show years. Very nice so far, keep it going.........

Great news for the USA. Keep your head up though as there are a lot of those people in your country and more coming in. Hope nothing happens in your country or mine because of this. We all have to be careful.

Thanks for the pictures. I will never be able to get there. Just got an email from one of the Winnipeg guys. Said this is the SUPERBOWL of model contests in the US. Very professional and well run. Didn't give any results, but said it was well worth the trip. Again thanks for the pictures and making it so everybody can see what is there...........

AMT Slammers? Anyone build these
moparfarmer replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Notice the chrome side trim on the Fury. It seems more realistic on the door/side part than the model(latest issue Fury) does. It doesn't have that small curve in it....... -

Wonder what Barache thinks? Who cares really....You da Doctor.............. -
Been on the Spotlight forum a bunch today and checked in here after being there. Went to SA and I, like others just got a blank screen. Maybe when Jenny put tape over Jims mouth in the preview of next month there was a shakeup......Like it here although I've only been checking it for the last few months. Have to renew my subscription though. Can't buy MCM here in Winnipeg.

Good luck with your knee. I have to have my right knee replaced around Dec/Jan. Too much work pulling stretchers over snow banks in the winter, and 35 yrs on the job. I won't be able to drive for about a month and half. Going to be tough. Look after yours all you can, and try not to have surgery unless there is no other way.
