  1. Nice work! Looks like the build is coming along great!
  2. Thank you! Appreciate the kind comment Thank you and yes, here you go!
  3. Here are a few pics of the 49 Merc and Black Widow I'll eventually be back on.....The Merc is HOK Pagan Gold over a Solar Gold Base with some Matrix Clear. The Black Widow is Kandy Organic Green. I used Planet Green and Orion Silver for the bases to create the two tone paint scheme. There were some fitting issues I had so I'm not sure if I'll salvage this build or start fresh.
  4. What's good fellow builders! While my daughter had the itch to get back on 2 of her builds, it has given me the itch to pull out some old builds and get back at it! I started these builds sometime between 1996 and 1998 I want to say. The convertible is painted in HOK Kandy Violet over Orion Silver base, do not recall which clear was used. This will be built either as a simple low-rider, basically stock with some wire wheels and thin whites or simple old school with some chrome wheels. Working on the stock interior and engine. The hardtop is covered in HOK Kandy Pagan Gold over Nova Orange base, unsure of the clear. This one will mostly be built using the custom version parts, interior and a few other things. Originally I wanted to really detail these out and build them as contest cars, looking over them I think I'm going to build them as nice, simple shelf models, see how they go together and then build a detailed one down the road. I'm looking forward to seeing them come together, over the past 19+ years I've pulled them out, looked at them with the intent of getting back on them and never did. The fun part of jumping back on an old build is finding pieces that were placed in other boxes, luckily most the parts have been located but I did end up painting another front seat and dash for the convertible this afternoon. The convertible interior pieces has been painted with HOK Passion Purple base coat, the flooring has purple flocking and the door panels have been foiled. I will use a set of the decal inserts on the seats. The hardtop has the custom pleated interior, it has been sprayed in HOK Snow White Pearl base coat and the flooring has black flocking. I am going to change out the steering wheel, I originally pulled the custom option wheel from an AMT 57 Chevy Kit but it really isn't the look i'm going for. While looking for these I found a Revell 49 Merc and 57 Chevy Black Widow I had started that I will be doing some stuff with eventually as well, I'll post some pics her as well to share. Enjoy the pics and I'll keep this updated as progress comes:
  5. Thank you Claude, I appreciate the kind comments! I was hoping Bell would have been back from her mothers by this afternoon as I had to do some spraying on some old projects I dug out to work on so that she could have done some spraying on her interior parts.
  6. Very cool build, like all the work going into an old school style hot rod you dont see so often!
  7. This was the last build I completed, a couple of years ago, 36 Ford, time to get back to the bench:
  8. Sick work on the bike, that is beautiful! Thank you for the compliment, the 57 above is pops, we just finished that up, been a long term project pops has been working on with some help from some friends and family!
  9. Can't tell you how happy and proud I am that she enjoys the hobby, she has been going with my pops and me to NNL's since she was about 4-5, same for car shows etc. She has been sparking that fire for me to get on some old builds, I have some stuff that has been painted and foiled for about 20 years I'm going to look and finish up now! Thank you again, I just tell her to have fun, there were a few things on the paint and clear but at the end of the day, it looks great and she had fun and learned a little more!
  10. Yes sir, George is my father. Thank you for the kind compliment, as I had just responded to another here, I was very fortunate to grow up with a great teacher along with friends of his that helped me as well. Also have the equipment and materials makes a ton of difference. I was spraying urethane candy paints on my own by 12-13 years of age, surprised pops even back then lol!
  11. Yeah, the white flocking help break up everything, overall seemed like a good build!
  12. Here we are with some clear, we used some Matrix, worked out nice, she scared me a time or two and I see a few things but overall she did a great job, she has sprayed bases but not too much clear. Here are some pics of what we got!
  13. Yes, the respirator is a must, I think when I learned from my pops he would have me wear them when he was home but when I was painting stuff after school a lot of times I would pass until some wind caught a good cloud of clear and brought it back to me, after that I was pretty much always using them. She is doing well, learning stages and she scared me with the clear but I think we are OK! We will post some pics after the clear is on everything. Thank you for the comment, I'm glad she enjoys the hobby!
  14. Thanks guys, I have a few 49's going and eventually want to build some 50's, they are fun building kits!
  15. Clean build, looks great! Was just looking at that kit earlier today, will have to pick up a few!
  16. What's good all, working with my daughter on an AMT 34 Ford Pick Up. This will be built pretty much box stock, may change a minor thing or two but she is having fun with it so far. Been cleaning and prepping the body, bed and other parts for paint, nothing crazy just working with her on scribing and some light sanding around edges, seams and flash areas. She decided to go with HOK Passion Purple on this build, we have the base on now and will give it a look over before clearing it, here is where we are so far:
  17. Wow, this is a very nice build! Love the combination of some traditional with some modern and the scratch built stuff is awesome!
  18. What's good everyone, been a minute since I've been on the boards. Had a few weeks off from work and pulled out some old projects, just had that itch to get going on some builds, pops and my long time buddy Chris have been on me to get back on some builds. Was surfing the boards and saw a thread on a 50 Ford so I posted some pics, thought I mine as well share here too. This was build some time back, probably around 1997-1999 time frame, my pops and I helped my sister build this when she was involved in building. Basically box stock, pulled the sombrero caps are either from an old original AMT kit or they are some machined aluminum ones we picked up, its lowered a little, interior is flocked and painted with the pearl pink base the the car is sprayed in. Body was cleaned up good and covered with HOK Pink Pearl, the carson top was sprayed with some flat white. Hope you guys enjoy the pics and hopefully I'll get some pics of my current (old projects) I'm trying to get back on and keep building. I"m also working with my daughter on a few builds as she enjoys the hobby and being around the 1:1 scale cars!
  19. Here is a 50 Ford my pops and I helped my sister with....about 20 years ago but still looks great!
  20. Sweet start, look forward to following this build
