  1. Nice work, really like the looks of this build and how it is coming along
  2. Thank you Rob, Chris and everyone! I've been having some fun with one of the 49's this evening. Stole Mooneyzs (Chris') idea for a seat, the mexican blanket idea for a seat. Credit to Chris, that is a bit of work. Not so happy with the first attempt, will probably start another one tonight or tomorrow but for the first attempt it did not come out bad and once in the car you don't see as much of the flaws. My wife had brought back a few of these blankets from her last visit to LA and Mexico so I was looking at the colors and patterns. What I've done for the front end here, so years ago, I want to say probably back in 1990 or so when I was about 12 I built a 49, was a pretty basic build from the box but the front end idea came from a drawing in an old Rod n Custom magazine. Used the front custom pan but rather than using one of the custom grills, I actually used the stock grill. The bumper has been cut off to make it fit with the custom pan. For the hood the choice was to either use the custom hood and round out the front to fit with the stock grill or use the stock hood, just smooth it all out, I went with option number 2, stock hood smoothed out. Long ways to go but here is where I am for now:
  3. Just pulled out the primered 49 Ford and glad I looked up this old thread as I forgot about the 49 with the custom front end, will have to find that one and get it going as well! Right now I am working on the hood and grill for the primered 49, will post some pics here later this evening.
  4. Good looking build!
  5. Been a while since I have logged on, wow, this has come a long ways!
  6. Great start here John, amazing detail in your builds, looking forward to following along
  7. Looking really good!
  8. Thank you all for the kind comments!
  9. Nice build!
  10. Great looking 40!
  11. Beautiful build, love the paint and detail
  12. Thank you, I really like these kits, for a while I was finding them on eBay shipped for like 9-12 dollars and stocked up on them. Partially to build a few of these before tapping into some of my old 63 and 64's. I was looking for some old projects the other day and found another 65 I started some time back that is already all cleaned up and sitting in primer so I'll be getting on that one soon!
  13. Here is a Monogram 1965 Impala kit I built, initially I was going to build a lowrider out of this but decided to go with a street machine style with it. The body was cleaned up and shot in a GM Blue and cleared with a PPG clear. The engine is wired and has an aftermarket air cleaner. The steering wheel and wheels were from Machined Aluminum Specialties and American Satco tires. I actually purchased a 2nd kit that had everything but the body chromed and used a number of those pieces in the engine compartment and on the chassis. The interior was sprayed in a black base then foiled on the trim areas and I used the stock patterns with charcoal flocking as well as doing the floor, package tray, top of dash and headliner as well as the seat patterns and carpet. This was a fun build and I was really happy with how it came out.
  14. What's up fellow modelers! Here are some pics of another 65' Rivi kit I built, really love the way this one came out! Really a box stock type build other than the tires. Cleaned up the body, removed the emblems, shot it in HOK Tru Blue Pearl and Sikkens Clear. The model was built as a curbside so not much engine or chassis detail. The interior is painted with Krylon paints, used the custom dash in this one to see how it would come out, overall I think I like the stock dashboard but this did come out nice, has black flocking on the floor for carpet.
  15. Great detail in this build
  16. Great job!
  17. Very cool, love the paint work
  18. That is nice, how did the kit go together for you? I have heard mixed things on them, great job!
  19. Like the color, looks sharp
  20. Looking good, love those Roadrunners!
