  1. Absolutely gorgeous. Great paint and detailing.
  2. Well, I see that Uwe hasn't posted anything here for over 3 years, so I guess he won't know about the praise for this great build. Anyway, I haven't seen it before and it's superb.
  3. So far, I've counted 5 "WOWS." Here's #6: WOW!
  4. Outstanding. That's a difficult kit (I'm a little intimidated to build mine) and you did a great job.
  5. I can see them now. Great job, beautiful detail and paint.
  6. Looks dead-on to me. It would be cool with stock fender skirts and a sun visor.
  7. 1/16 Mercedes SS Cabriolet - complicated, with a high parts count. UGLY: Revell version with drawings only and no written instructions, except for an undecipherable description of lacing the wire wheels. BAD: Academy/Minicraft version with written instructions added, but not much detail GOOD: Minicraft 1992 reissue with very good, enhanced instructions. If you have one of the earlier versions of this kit, you can download these instructions at drasticplastics http://public.fotki....raft-1928-merc/
  8. Here are four different approaches to making classic wire wheels, as explained by the late Martin Swire. These are for 1/16 models, but the same techniques apply to any scale. http://www.freewebs.com/martsmodels/howtos.htm
  9. What happened to all the pictures? All I see are question marks.
  10. It was a good site for a lot of information but very disorganized. The best stuff there was from Alex Kustov's website, which will now be archiving much of their information. Unfortunately, Alex seldom updates his site and hasn't done so in a long time. www.italianhorses.net
  11. Of course. You're from Chicago.
  12. For some insights into this legend, I recommend a documentary film called "A Gullwing at Twilight," which records Fitch's 2004 attempt (while in his 80s) to set a speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the 1955 Gullwing that he raced over fifty years earlier. Beautifully shot, and available at Amazon. Here's a behind-the-scenes look: http://szwedo.com/makingofgullwing.html
  13. Reminds me of Stirling Moss famously hanging one of his F1 race cars (complete) on a wall in his home.
  14. ?? "Kookie" was played by Edd Byrnes. Norm Grabowski was on the show as another character and actually built Kookie's hot rod, along with other movie cars.
  15. "Anyone ever heard of PYRO? I picked this one up at Indy last week end for $15." And at first I thought he was paid $15 to take it, instead of paying that for the kit.
  16. I've seen some nice builds of the Weinberger Cabriolet, and I think your Royale Naploeon looks far more difficult. I bet you could nail it. Check out the book by Gerald Wingrove, "The Complete Car Modeller 2." The entire book is about how he scratchbuilt a large-scale Weinberger Cabriolet. Probably easily available in Hungary from Amazon or other sources. http://www.amazon.co...ller 2 wingrove Also, check his website at www.geraldwingrove.com for pictures of the original car and his model. You don't have to go with Wingrove's color scheme. This one has off-white gray paint and a green top and interior.
  17. Some modelers also like to use colored embossing powder for carpeting (generally available in the scrapbooking section of craft stores) and use spray adhesive.
  18. I believe this subject is covered in some detail toward one of the later pages in the Jo-Han discussion in General. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20855&st=0
  19. Very nice build, especially considering it's a Pyro. What's with the bullet holes?
  20. What's the best way to get those teeny PE parts off the backing? These are metal emblem stickers from FMD on yellow backing.
  21. Very nicely done. My Dad had a red 1960 like this one, and though it was underpowered, the rear end often got squirrelly. But it had unusually positive steering for the time.
  22. Have you done the 1/16 version? I'd love to see that. It would be QUITE a contrast next to the 1/75.
  23. If you can't save or link an image, you can always do a screen shot and upload it to a photo hosting service.
  24. Wow, great touch with the door pockets.
  25. I don't know if this has been mentioned in this very lengthy thread, but I discovered in Len Carsner's On the Workbench build of the Buck Baker #87 race version that there's a typo on a couple of the decals. The rear fender decals say LABOR DAY STEP. 4, whereas Len's 1:1 reference shows it should be SEPT. 4 Just a little knife work should fix that.
