  1. I nominate the 1970s for the Hall of Shame, during which only a few brands around the world made anything but junk. Barrett-Jackson bidders may disagree, but the muscle cars from then are much better in today's restored condition than they were new. It's like the entire car industry was scrambling so hard to deal with a global fuel shortage and US emission and safety regulations that quality was put on the back burner.
  2. I don't know why this thread was started as just being about Revell. It's the 1,452 thread about "kits we'd like to see," which could include any other manufacturer. I think it's a subject that could be pinned, with members piping in, whenever, about kits they'd like to see. Might be noticed by Aoshima. Revell, Tamiya and who knows? It would be great if this could be pared down to a voting list, but it would be insane to ask the moderators to set up something like that.
  3. I would suspect that many of those molds got worn out over time. For example, my original Gold Cup series Mercedes 500K kits are very sharp and precise, while the later issue is loaded with flash and not nearly as crisp, with poor chrome coverage.

Looks great. Do you have larger shots and interiors?
  5. Nice. What paint did you use?
  6. Dying to see how you'll do it! What color do you have in mind?
  7. Jolly good.
  8. I agree with Harry about pinstriping tape. Here is a selection in a variety of sizes from Model Expo. The tape brand is Line O Tape. As for the gas tank, I wonder if red sidewall tire striping might be useful for the gas tank? If not, a circle template and red Sharpie or other pen would work. I don't know what brands are available in Britain. Otherwise, the ridges that need to be painted appear to be strong enough for using masking tape to paint with a brush. 9. Anyone watch the videos on this site, Petrolicious? Sort of a video magazine covering a wide range of cars. Nice photography. http://www.petrolicious.com/articles/videos/
  10. Two subsequent posts and no one noticed this? Is this a text message with auto correct? What did you REALLY type? :D
  11. This seems like a nice kit that's going to be a one-of-a-kind build. Looks like the windscreen has a green tint - any idea on how to accomplish that?
  12. Superb. One of the best SS 100 builds I've seen in any scale.
  13. It ain't the klunky Revell kit, that's for sure, and the picture doesn't look old enough to be the original show car when it was that color (but a couple of 1:1 replicas were made from molds taken of the original car). I'm leaning toward large-scale model. 'Scuse me while I go flip a coin.
  14. One of my favorite supercars. Many years ago in Houston, I passed the BMW dealer's lot where he had four of the street M1s lined up. I drooled all the way home.
  15. There are only a few show rods that I would ever consider to be tasteful and sophisticated, and this is one of them. Sleek and slick.
  16. Outstanding work. I am also interested to know how you printed on foil without smearing.
  17. As I said before, you speak he truth. But isn't this the same off-topic conversation that sent this thread on judging off the rails?
  18. Yes, and you said it just as well in your earlier post.
  19. This started out as a very interesting thread about how contest judging is done, and we've had many experienced members share their backgrounds in that situation. However, it seems that this has now devolved into the 40-zillionth thread on "I build for myself" vs. "I like to enter contests (for a variety of reasons). Does anyone really care WHY someone builds? just show us your stuff (it's a judging contest every day on this forum) and use your finished build for whatever purposes you desire. Your reasons are your own and not of particular interest. I keep checking this thread to see if there's any more illumination about contest judging, but that seems to have gone bye-bye, and it's now clogged up by the same old useless rehash.
  20. Great so far. One of the most realistic flocking jobs I've seen, which seems to work better at this scale. My only complaint about your builds is that we don't get to see enough of your interiors!
  21. Beautiful all around - just the way I would have ordered it. Great approach to the airbox,
  22. The pinstriping on the white car you showed above might be a dark crimson red like this one. This is another angle on the Barris car in your picture, which to my eyes also appears to have red striping.
  23. Great job, especially on the chrome trim, and the attention to the rubber blades on the wipers is not often seen. Kudos. (PS: I think your shots would look a lot better if you used a background of large white paper or butcher wrapping paper - that busy background really gets in the way of appreciating this quality model.)
  24. Looking good. I really appreciate the way you set up your process on this thread.
  25. You've done it again - world-class work. Nicely done video.
