Ohhh...Now I get it. Or not. Is the snake part a metaphysical comment on the Bullfrog obliterating the original sin of a Viper? Or a Cobra? Or Shelby's Super Snake (Don "The Snake" Prudhomme)? I must reflect on the implications of all this.

Can't get there from here. I get "Server not found." -
The exhaust also is too low on the Aurora/Monogram Maserati 3500 GT, which seems to me to be part of the same GT series issued back then.

Very nice. Are those wire wheels from the kit?

You can also keep checking on eBay to see what's available. Often, someone will part out a kit. Here's a bookmark I use for 1/12 kits and parts: http://toys.shop.ebay.com/Automotive-/2580/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=1%2F12&_trkparms=65%253A10%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1&rt=nc&_ipg=&_pcats=1188%2C220&_sop=10&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=1

On the headlight rings, you said it's not too difficult to round over the edge of the tubing to the proper shape. Exactly how did you get the rounded effect? This would also be a good technique for more realistic instrument gauge bezels than most PE parts.

Man, you can't tell how small it is until you see the driver at the wheel. Just imagine how jammed together everyone would be in a full bus.

Here's the bookmark I use to lurk on eBay for 1/16 kits and parts. You never know what's going to show up, so you just have to keep checking. For parts only, most are taken from full kits, and there's not much of anything for 1/16 from aftermarkets sources, unless you're looking for things like screws and bolts and PE that can adapt to various scales. http://toys.shop.ebay.com/Automotive-/2580/i.html?_nkw=1%2F16&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=2&_fln=1&_ipg=&_pcats=1188%2C220&_sop=10&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283

Obviously, you and I will have to shoot it out at 20 paces over which is better. -

Beautiful. Superb paint work and chrome. Franklin Mint quality. I'm especially impressed that the glass fits so flush without the typical gaps or recesses. Do you have any detailed interior or engine shots? And, I might add, very slick photography. -
This probably belongs in Swap, Trade or Free, but I'll send you an unused Testors sanding set for a bottle of whatever you're taking.

It's hard to know what goes on in a person's mind when you've been at the top of the world and things go to pot in this tough economy. This past summer, a local Pontiac/GMC dealer whose dealership was one of hundreds removed by GM also committed suicide in his dealership. Does this have anything to do with business? That's probably hard to determine, but here's an interesting article from about a year ago, commenting on the recent suicide of another Ford dealer: For car dealers, it's been a rough 18 months. Last year, Duke Gold of Speedway Volkswagen also killed himself. In fact, nearly a dozen dealers nationwide have taken their own lives, according to auto industry expert Nancy Phillips. Phillips deals with troubled dealerships and writes an online column. She calls it a tragic response to a desperate situation. "[Dealerships are] such a closed business, a family business. It's not a corporation with a multitude of people that are getting the same amount of pressure. It's very individual, it's your entire life," Phillips said. "It's totally horrifying."

Well, I think a split rear window like the Bugatti Atlantic or the Cord Beverly/Westchester makes more sense. Otherwise, this seems like more of a curiosity than a true car, where I thought it was going. Sorry. I thought it was so cool that this could exist in a 1:1 world, but without the rear window I can only see it as a trailer queen show car.

My '93 Corvette had an MPG calculator, and the typical mileage around town was 15 MPG. Depending on how I used the 6-speed transmission, mileage varied from 7 MPG (accelerator on the floor) to 100 MPG while coasting. Yes, that's the way it showed up.
-
I've got to bump this again, based on my last post. What's the deal with no rear window?
-
Looking awesome. I assume there's a rear-mounted video camera since there's no rear window, though I don't see a monitor screen in the dash area.
-
I suppose this could go on and on (for example, the roof louvers appear to come down too far, the bottom line there is too curved and it looks like there are too many louvers to begin with; also, the headlight surrounds are too thick). But it seems to me, this being the only game in town, it could be a good canvas where a reasonably proficient modeler could fix these problems and have a nice-looking build. (But all that is beyond me.)

Nice alignment on the side chrome trim.
