Please guys, need your input.....

Maybe these can translate into Duplicolor or get something from a Dodge dealer. -
Good show on getting the Italeri 300 SL Roadster. A couple of tips: • The only thing wrong, really, is the shape of the windshield frame, which is too tall and square in the top corners. • The tires are a bit too fat. • The wheels in the Minicraft Gullwing version are much nicer; they're chromed, with separate outer chrome rings. • Don't use the nose badge decal – it has red in it, which hadn't been used for over 25 years on a Mercedes. Here's an incomplete build journal from a Spanish site: http://foro.miniruedas.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1911 If you have any reference needs, I have an enormous digital file that takes up four CDs – more than twice the amount of information on the Phantom II CD I sent you. As you know, I'm relentlessly hunting the Italeri version of the Gullwing, which appears to share many parts with this kit, judging by non-roadster parts on the chrome sprue. I would be grateful for anyone's help in tracking one down.

Weathered or aged brass plating
sjordan2 replied to Joe Handley's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
What parts for what model? Some of the aftermarket plating services can do brass, and you can weather it after that. -
You continue to crack me up with your crazy yet realistic builds.

I've been saving my kudos until this is done, but I can't resist piping in to say, simply, "astonishing."

Info...is Reliable Resin in fact Reliable?
sjordan2 replied to jimnohio's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay, Jim, some of the information you're looking for will be found in part in the Resin section, primarily on pages 1 & 2. Evidently this involved a number of flamethrowing comments causing one of the topics to be locked. -
Info...is Reliable Resin in fact Reliable?
sjordan2 replied to jimnohio's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
FYI, once again this forum's search function comes up short. Searching for "Reliable Resin," I got a host of results with just the word "resin" and I still haven't found Reliable Resin. Jim's question, also asked on the SAM forum, has had only one response: "This should be fun." I haven't got a clue what all this is about, and why nobody wants to talk about it. -
Yes.

Having pondered this I vote Very Cool. This is a Riviera shuttle, and I would be happy to offload it from my Sunseeker yacht. Here are a few of its predecessors:

Vote early and vote often

However, they give you the opportunity to nominate what kits you'd like to see. -
Behold the Citroen Lacoste, a beach buggy which is either downright ugly/weird or very cool. I must ponder this. At least it seems to have a convenient carrying handle at the top. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/4581/Citroen-Lacoste-Concept.html

Cheers to a local hobby shop
sjordan2 replied to Ryan S.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know if you've tried to contact Loose Caboose about your appreciation, but I did try to alert them to this thread and my e-mail didn't go through. -
Yes, indeed, this is the best forum on this subject on the Web for which Gregg deserves great credit. I particularly appreciate his comment that the flamers will be banned immediately.
-
Yeah, that was kind of a subtext to what I was writing about. (It seems though, that Harry didn't want it removed.) But I totally understand Gregg's point of view, and the fact that there is enough BS on the other topics that make policing R&R exceptionally tough.

Thanks, Steve, I should have figured out the ALMS part. But judging by your mock-up, I think you're really on to something regardless of how you may depart from the 3D rendering. I can see a bit of a Corvette CR6 in there.
-
This looks like it's going to be fabulous, and I love the car you're inspired by. What does ALMS stand for?

Cheers to a local hobby shop
sjordan2 replied to Ryan S.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There's a guy who knows how to build his business and keep you coming back – the sort of attitude and approach that Art Anderson has described about his days as a hobby shop owner. Makes you think that, while Walmart has been putting small shops out of business for years, their withdrawal from this area has been of benefit to this kind of independent retailer. -
I complained as loudly as anyone about the trolls and flamers who have infested this site for a while, but I must admit that I miss the R&R section. Seemed like a place to go with the sort of comments, many of them sincere, that can sour other threads; it offered many caveats about companies and people one wouldn't want to deal with, which I and many others considered more interesting than the Rave parts. I found it, quite often, to be entertaining – sometimes as a laboratory exercise in pathological, abnormal behavior. Anyway, as stated above, areas like General and New Kits can absorb some of the more constructive rants & raves. Emphasis on constructive.

Very creative and skillfully built. Great ideas, well done.

The chrome trim looks great, especially the windshield frame. Which method did you use?

I've seen a number of suggestions on this and other forums • Drill out the headlights and replace with clear convex "googly eye" lenses from sewing crafts section, (need to add a chrome bucket behind the lens); or find a source for clear lenses from MV Products, normally found in the railroad section of hobby stores or online. • Detail Master has 1/24-25 lenses http://www.detailmaster.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=detailmaster&Category_Code=MV • Coat the chrome lens with something like Krystal Klear to reduce the ridges on the surface, then find a picture of a headlight that looks right, scale it properly, and print out on decal paper. I know there are guys here who probably have better sources for aftermarket headlights. I saw an excellent one posted here not too long ago but can't remember where it was.

This is beginning to remind me of a Luigi Colani design for a Rolls-Royce with a Merlin engine. (Look up Luigi Colani in Google images. Wild designs for all kinds of transportation.)
