It's not just parts. Have you factored in shipping charges, import duties and taxes? EDIT: These subjects were addressed while I was typing.

I no longer have the kit. Send Harry a PM and maybe he can help you. -
Best selling cars (and truck) of all time

Of course, when the Model T came out, it was amazing to think that average people could afford such an amazing piece of technology. -
licensing agreements?

I would guess that Ferrari is not at all aware of the no-name kit. They've clamped down big-time on manufacturers of 1:1 fiberglass replicas such as the car shown above (with a replica used in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," plus the Ostermeier 250 GTO replica). They roam eBay a lot, and have struck a deal where the Ferrari name cannot be used when selling a Daytona Spyder Miami Vice replica. -

I don't quite get what you're asking. Insofar as kits featuring trademarked brands are concerned, anyone marketing a trademarked product with that name, and without a licensing agreement, is going to get creamed by the company's legal department. For example, here's a kit where the manufacturer paid the licensing fees. Here's the same kit with the same tooling from a company that didn't license the name. This is a stretch and could still be vulnerable -- if Ferrari was aware of it. They've clamped down big-time on manufacturers of 1:1 fiberglass replica cars that didn't use the Ferrari name. -

However, as of six years ago, Chevy no longer had the parts to replace the nose and hatch on my '93 Corvette. Plus, the dealer put me in a Catch-22 -- they could only use Genuine GM Parts and not salvage parts, but there were no GM Parts. I eventually tracked down the parts on my own. -
Very realistic finish on the upholstery. It's not a big deal, but that style of steering wheel was a faux ivory and should be all white. However, 3-spoke Nardi-type steering wheels with wood rims were available. Don't forget the grab handles on the door jambs; I assume you'll replace the kit gearshift lever with a straight stick.

Excellent work.

So...that's off the topic of the off-topic post. Let's talk about Joan Rivers walking out of her interview with host Fredericka Whitfield on CNN, followed up by Letterman and other TV talk shows, and this post will be off the topic of the off-the-topic off-topic post.

The hood plastic is too thin for that to have any effect. I'm still trying to figure out why the engine is too tall- haven't seen a problem with that in this kit. Henry, I'm assuming that you haven't glued the top half of the body together with the bottom half. Before you do, go ahead and install the hood now according to instructions and take it from there. PS: Do you have any pictures of the interior and dash?

Today, I got freedom from having a few dozen kits in storage for 5 years and brought them home. How I'm going to clear up space for them is another question.

What part of the engine is the problem? When you put in the engine, did you do anything at all that is different from the instructions, such as moving it forward a bit?

Okay, this is a shot in the dark since Revell's Ed Sexton said he doesn't see large-scale kits in Revell's future (that was about the same time as the 1/12 Mustang came out). But here's a thought. Of interest especially to international modelers, the Ferrari 275 GTB berlinetta is one of the most admired cars of all time. But the 1/12 kit originally tooled by Renwal and later boxed by Revell is one of the biggest model kit jokes of all time (the horror, the horror). It's time for a new 1/12 tooling with modern technology to make this car, which can be issued in at least 3 separate versions: • Original 275 GTB berlinetta • Next-generation 275 GTB/4 competizione with minor body, engine and mechanical adaptations, plus racing livery • 275 GTB NART spyder, one of the most beautiful roadsters ever made. A parts kit with a choice of 3 wheels could be offered for all of them: • Standard Campagnolo alloys • Borrani wire wheels such as those Revell issued on their 1/12 diecasts of the 250 GTO and Mercedes 300 SLR Uhlenhaut coupe. • Rudge knockoffs In the past couple of years, Revell of Germany has been reissuing some 1/16 kits of interest to the international market (Rolls PII Continental, VW Kafer bug), plus a single-store reissue of the 1/8 E-Type Jag, and I think a new 1/12 275 GTB would make a profit.

I've bought a few kits to see what others are talking about, some I just got for reference for similar other kits, and some that, when opened and analyzed, I knew were too bad to build. These will never be done. Some kits I got, just to follow other builds and threads: 62 Corvette Lincoln Futura Morgan 3-wheeler 1/16 Model T 1/24 Jaguar XK 120 Kits too bad to build: Revell/Monogram 1/12 Mercedes Gullwing (originally Renwal) Revell/Monogram 1/12 Ferrari 275 GTB (Also originally Renwal; Gold Star for worst garbage ever released by a leading worldwide brand) Lindberg Auburn Boattail Speedster Minicraft Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud Smaller kits (1/24-25) mainly for comparison and reference for larger scale kits: Monogram Cord 812 Phaeton AMT Mercedes Gullwing (one of the best at any scale) 1/32 Pyro & AMT Bugatti T59

Fallon has been doing this for years on the Late Show after Leno. He's pretty much doing the same thing he always has, and is used to having plenty of A-List celebrities. I think he's amazingly talented. I might add that I just posted this because I thought it was extremely funny and that you guys would like it, no appreciation one way or another about Letterman, and I have no idea why your opinion of the host should enter into it. I never dreamed that it would turn into a diatribe on the pros and cons of late-show hosts. Sheesh.

Originally a super-simple stock version promo by Hubley (the only promo ever authorized by Rolls), later by Minicraft. The body's pretty good, but the details are all off. Horrible mold seams. Minicraft also issued this same 1/24 "woodie" version with a typo on the box saying it's 1/16 scale. The "wood" parts are stickers that look just as bad as you see on this lousy painting. Otherwise, it's the same as the stock kit.

The Pink Panther animation was designed by a couple of ex-Warner Bros. animators for DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. (Just for the record). Interesting background here, including the fact that The Pink Panther was originally conceived as a TV show but made into a movie series instead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pink_Panther Evidently the real car was related to the animated TV show, created for a live-action opening to the cartoon series. http://www.carbodydesign.com/2011/09/panthermobile-goes-to-auction/

How many model A Ford kits are there ?

The link I posted above (#62) is for a long-gone 1/16 kit from Hudson Miniatures, though it can still be found occasionally on eBay. -

Harry posted a build journal in Big Boyz on this 1903 Model A several months ago, but I can't find it. Spectacular work. Franklin Mint also did a centennial edition diecast commissioned by Ford (Harry's has better detail). http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=17793 -
As for the black seal lines, there are a couple of ways to go on this kit. -- Because the window frames stick out so far from the body, you could use a very fine black cord around the edges. -- Otherwise a Pantone fine-point paint pen is a good choice. I'd mask around the windows. The problem to be careful of is the gaps between the frames and the body.
