  1. 4. amt's Chrysler 300 C a great model but wrong size appx. 1/23 instead of 1/25 Are you sure about that?? I have built two of them, really like it. But if it is out of scale so is the Revell Dodge Magnum as it scales out EXACTLY the same. Strange two different compaines would scale a all new kit in 1/23 scale?? I think I'll check the model out with a 1/1 today and see....... UPDATED....Per specifications by Road & Track magazine, my two AMT built Chrysler 300's and a digital caliper....the model scales out to within .003 actual inches for all external dimentions. 1/25 scale in my book.........just a FYI
  2. Then there are the kits that were executed well but were conceptually the "Worst Kit Idea Ever". My vote goes to most of the early 70s AMT Showrods. Royal Rail, Depth Charger, Stogie something or other. Man, those were turds! How about MPC's Elegant Farmer and Jolly Roger? AMTs Quarter Mile Smile, the Jimmy Carter Funny car? MPC's Gridiron Grabber and Hardhat Hauler do not have one useful part on them! I agree!! I am now allowing all these kits to be sent to me for disposal!! I will see that they get 'taken care of'!! The AMT F&F Nissan wheels are bad but the rest was OK....and built well.....With the correct whaeels it was a decent model of the car in the movie! The EVO was not a model of the movie car and was a little off in a number of areas.
  3. First....the Pyro, Palmers etc were model made, most times to sell for under $1. Even in money of the time that was no easy task. And all work was done here in the old USA. Tools cut, boxes printed....everything. I give them a pass for 'you get what you pay for when you pay 49 cents'! Modern era....AMT/ERTL 1983 stock csar models. When these were coming out I worked in a hobby shop. We were helpful in getting Ertl info on real stock cars. When them came...in place of the 'Monogram killer' kits we got BAD toys...not even a model. Ertl had the ability to blast Monogram at the time...and wasted it....... Firefighter Mustang a dog?? Why....I like it....... Box stock other than wheels and decals.
  4. Got a few of my MK stock cars completed......pretty much box stock with a little plastic added here and there...... Kit decals, Tamiya paint. I added a few small plastic bits for detail but no aftermarket parts. A few hints on the page below.... build hints........
  5. It means the Southern 500 and race cars to me......... Goes to show out of 100 people...you will get 100 answers........
  6. No tooling changes were made in this re-issue....just new box and decals....which are great! The instructions are a repro of the first issue of the kit...so thats why some decals may not match...but I like the repro instructions and the new decals are much better than the old. Good stuff!
  7. Thanks for the imfo....gonna build me a AG car at last!
  8. I'm going......been going since 1983....did miss 1986 when my son was due that week....wife said I could not go.....I don't know why? In 83 I and my buddy went. by 1989 we had to rent a RV to get everyone from our club in Charlotte to Toledo. Now I am the only one still going. There is a IPMS regional near me I was tempted to go to but Toledo still calls me!
  9. AMT sold the JoHan 71-74 Javelin in stock and Trans Am racer.
  10. Really nice. I have a planned bone stock version as a race car hauler.
  11. Advertising folks can’t see the forest for the trees. My favorite advertising goof was back in the mid 1970's NCNB, now known as BoA, ran commercials with Slim Pickens playing the same character he had just played in ‘Blazing Saddles’. Did these folks SEE the movie? Slim played a idiot racist in the movie! I loved the commercials...partly because I loved the movie, partly because of the total lack of brains on the advertising folks!
  12. I understand the kit was broken and could not be run but Burket has PAID to fix it. Good stuff!
  13. I need to add something here. I thank Burket and Sean for allowing me to help out. The small group we have that help turn out these kits is great to work with. Dave Burket is of corse the ‘King’ pin of all this ...without Dave the hobby would be a lot less fun. Sean is a great model builder and graphics guy. I just have fun adding a few things to make lots of options for the builder. Thanks Dave, Sean and the whole ‘Pit crew’ that work on these neat kits!
  14. Fantastic!! What a little work can do!
  15. 1/12 scale I'd bought one by now....but they are the older 1/16 scale kits. Look pretty neat...they have a whole street coming out to go with them. I'll wait and see one b/u.
  16. Neat stuff.....do you know what that last one is?? A ride or??? I saw at MGM years ago, a set, which was a big diorama, from Burton's 'Nightmare before Christmas'....man what a neat set!!! Thanks
  17. I'd like to see them. I am a Disney fan, growing up near Disneyland. I also build dioramas so sound like great stuff!!
  18. JACKIE!!!! That GMC motor home is killing me!! I'd never even thought of that one! I have a Hess GMC that's missing a door....I hope some day it will look as good as yours!! That and a AMC on the same post!!!
  19. There have been rumors of a new kit from Gary for a long time. I don't think we will ever see it. I don't know if Gary has made his money back on the Chevy yet. Tough biz! Even AM, which has a good size catalog is having a hard time tolling anything new.
  20. Great work on a kit I will NEVER understand....and now it looks as if Trumpeter is going to give up the US car model market......Like Bob said...think of what would have happened if they did even a Malibu....Stock, drag and NASCAR builders would have bought.
  21. Thanks for that info Dave. From the photos of this years ALMS cars some decal work is the biggest part of the project. I can handle that as long as the ALPS don't break!!! Thanks again!!!
  22. Got my kit today....these are BIG cars!! Just happy to have a new road racer model. How much difference is there between the LM car as the kit is shown and the ALMS version we see stateside. I am goning through pics....but I know someone out there has looked already!!
  23. Nice work!! Decent kit for what it is!
  24. I did the masters for the kit and sold them under Penngwen brand. I hope my son will soon restart the biz full time. Back in the day we did the Merkur IMSA and T/A conversion kits.
