Model King 75 Laguna stock car box art
Dave Van replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I need to add something here. I thank Burket and Sean for allowing me to help out. The small group we have that help turn out these kits is great to work with. Dave Burket is of corse the ‘King’ pin of all this ...without Dave the hobby would be a lot less fun. Sean is a great model builder and graphics guy. I just have fun adding a few things to make lots of options for the builder. Thanks Dave, Sean and the whole ‘Pit crew’ that work on these neat kits! -
Fantastic!! What a little work can do!
-
Neat stuff.....do you know what that last one is?? A ride or??? I saw at MGM years ago, a set, which was a big diorama, from Burton's 'Nightmare before Christmas'....man what a neat set!!! Thanks
-
I'd like to see them. I am a Disney fan, growing up near Disneyland. I also build dioramas so sound like great stuff!!

JACKIE!!!! That GMC motor home is killing me!! I'd never even thought of that one! I have a Hess GMC that's missing a door....I hope some day it will look as good as yours!! That and a AMC on the same post!!!

There have been rumors of a new kit from Gary for a long time. I don't think we will ever see it. I don't know if Gary has made his money back on the Chevy yet. Tough biz! Even AM, which has a good size catalog is having a hard time tolling anything new.

1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landaulet - Trumpeter Kit
Dave Van replied to PeterLepold's topic in Model Cars
Great work on a kit I will NEVER understand....and now it looks as if Trumpeter is going to give up the US car model market......Like Bob said...think of what would have happened if they did even a Malibu....Stock, drag and NASCAR builders would have bought. -
Thanks for that info Dave. From the photos of this years ALMS cars some decal work is the biggest part of the project. I can handle that as long as the ALPS don't break!!! Thanks again!!!

Got my kit today....these are BIG cars!! Just happy to have a new road racer model. How much difference is there between the LM car as the kit is shown and the ALMS version we see stateside. I am goning through pics....but I know someone out there has looked already!!

Nice work!! Decent kit for what it is!
-
I did the masters for the kit and sold them under Penngwen brand. I hope my son will soon restart the biz full time. Back in the day we did the Merkur IMSA and T/A conversion kits.

Hard to beat a box stock super clean build!!!!

I ran a batch a few years ago. Still have a few on hand. If I can sell out I can move to the next kit! thanks!!

Thanks for the info guys....I will check with these vendors...I don't think I can wait until Atlanta! I might do some decals for it if I can get one. ( any ideas????) ....one more IMSA build....my 1989 IMSA Nissan 300ZX....

VERY nice work!!! Are they still available??? I need one BAD!! I love IMSA and T/A cars......I had heard someone was going to do a Jag but never saw anything on it..... This is my Roush Cougar....I wanted to make a curbside resin kit for it but the sales of resin kits, mine anyway, are too slow to pour new molds right now. Sorry for the ###### pic...it was taken in the early days og dig cam and I ain't taken another. Roush 89 Cougar...again sorry about the pic And a group shot at Atlanta NNL...... Any info on a Jag would be GREAT!! Thanks

? about RB Motion
Dave Van replied to USAC_1957's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see him selling on the bay every now and then. I bought a bunch of stuff the first year he came to Toledo. I bought a few bags of rejects that were GREAT! I spent over $100 with RB for hardware for a 1/12 scale IMSA car...I have yet to finish..... -
Bob, I don't disagree......AMT could have, should have done a better job on all these kits. I have been building plastic models for a long time.....1962. And a lot of them AMT. I guess it's the HOPE that AMT will continue somehow, that keeps me buying/building. . And your right.....AMT could have done as well as Dave Burket/MK in box art, marketing and decals. But being the corp giant they are they can't see the forest for the trees. I have been lucky enough to work with Sean and Dave on the decal art. Burket's mode of operation is to give his ideas and then let you go and add your ideas. You can see the results. Corp America just does not work that way. Thanks

Well....I guess I am in the minority here..... While the last few RC2/AMT issues were not perfect, yet to find a perfect model, I thought they were worth the $10 I paid for them. I WANT a 1/1 300...but am to cheap to buy one...so I had to build one. I thought the AMT kit came off well. I did fix the stance a little but I do that on ever kit I build so I did not see it as a issue. Yes...there are a few SMALL details missing or wrong...but most can’t spot them when I show my build up. The F&F III kits were a step down for the once great AMT but far from junk. I wish they had made the models like the cars in the movies....and not just cars ‘kinda like’ the movie cars. The Evo built up well...the wheels were a bit large but not as large as Revell is putting in the bling kits! Under the hood is simplified....but once together it looks fine. Again...$10 kit here not a Tamiya $50 kit.... both are box stock..... just my opinion.......
