Airbrush Beginner
Greg Cullinan replied to Greg Cullinan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Mike,I just browsed Bob's instructions(bookmarked for studying) and it does seem doable. Erik,it does seem easier to mess up a paint job with the airbrush to me.I think cause its thinner than spray cans.I'm not a pro at either so I have nothing to lose:P. -
Part I.D.
Greg Cullinan replied to Greg Cullinan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks George,The little chrome car(trophy,I guess) is on the chrome sprue.I will have to look a little closer to find the base. The kit also came with an engine stand.I always enjoy the little extras in a kit. Thanks again. -
My first attempt at airbrushing,I spray canned white Duplicolor primer Then airbrushed House of Kolor Orion Silver Metallic as a base. The finish color is House of Kolor Cobalt Blue Basecoat. I cleared with spraycan Duplicolor. I don't have any primers or clears for the airbrush and I don't know how to decant so I will use the spraycans in these areas for now. I thoroughly enjoyed the airbrushing,it gives you a wide variety of colors that don't seem to be available with spraycans. The cleanup was minimal and easy enough. With my initial thoughts I would highly recommend trying it(especially for those that have the set-up and haven't tried it yet) The kit I sprayed is a Donk 87 Buick Grand National( Plans are to undonk and make a street rod out of it).

Came across this part while getting parts off of sprue, have no clue what it is.It isn't covered in directions nor box back which shows kit parts. Heres the kit.. Heres the part,it's highlighted in orange and the spot on box where it's located has a orange circle.. Thanks

All the cut work looks good.I like it with the 5 star rims. When I was growing up that look was very big. I never had the G body,I had the Cutlass Ceirra with the wheels instead. Thanks

Where To Find Paint Color Charts?
Greg Cullinan replied to 58 Impala's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw a link the other day to TCP Global where they had a pretty good factory color chart.Sorry I don't have the link.I think it was on a thread on the workhanks -
Marshall I am going to have to start shopping for molded in color bodies .It looks good and will save me alot of heartbreak.lol.

Krishna I can see the fine German engineering in you build.he two-tone really looks sharp on here. Those amg's were always a site to see,all that luxury and power rolled into one. Thanks

William she looks beautiful finished, saw that coming from your workbench thread.Congratulations you have a very clean ride. Thanks

Dave after I saw the first picture I thought to myself that I would just clean the paint cause it looked good The firewall and rear steelies are a nice touch and the motor fits perfect in my mind. You put her back together nicely and she deserves a spot on the shelf for sure. Thanks

Hello Joe,you picked a winner for your first kit to build in your comeback. Paint and wheels look great. Thanks

Matt s all I can say is WOW! that is so sweet the way you fabricated supercharger and carb hats.Looks like this is going to be one bad Olds.I'd like to see your 1/1 if you ever fell like posting a picture. Thanks 'p;;;;p

Looks good, nothing like a 49 Merc to get the juices going.I think with model building the only way to learn is by experience. So your off to a running start, now you have a 55 Chevy to learn some more. Thanks
-
John you really made this little rod look cool. Thanks

Nice Squires, hard to believe the transformation of Aunt Edna.Any chance Clark is named after Mr. Griswold? Thanks BTW Very nice Stang.

I like Randy's idea,it would be very tempting. One of the sweetest Willy's I've seen.I have to look into this kit. Thanks
-
I can picture Truman riding to his inauguration in this bad boy.Looks sweet. Thanks

Very nice Merc,I like a 49 but it's nice to see something else that's for sure. Thanks

This Fox was done at the end of my Stang phase but after the 53 Chevy I think Probably my favorite model yet was this Impala which was my last of the year. I built these two around October. The caddy I wanted to undonk it but didn't know how so I built it as is.And the Monte I used the bike out of the kit and just wanted to do it to tie up lose ends so to speak. Speaking of the bike reminds me of this build which I believe was around September That's all folks. Thanks

I was really digging all the nice dueces on the site and had to give it a shot.

Then I found other makes and models and aftermarket assesories And I would do one kit and be half-way pleased then I would really butcher the next and be back to square one.

I started building sometime around March or April I believe. I'm enjoying the heck out of building and this forum.I don't have any cases yet so these pics are how they sit today.(a little dusty and some have taken a spill or two) I will try and remember chronological order. I know this was my first(my 1/1) These two were next,I was on a Mustang kick,I hadn't yet realized there were other brands to build . They have already been sent to scrape yard;) This was my worst, the blue brush paint applied thick is hideous Then I found MCM and found spray cans:) I almost felt like I turned the corner on this one (until I did my next model)
