  1. Hey Cranky, will the salting process work with rattle can enamel? I want to do a base coat of flat brown, let dry, salt, then coat of flat aluminum to get the rusted steel look for my rims.... Whatcha think??
  2. Sounds great! You might want to check out the MAB site http://www.angelo.com/ and the Dean guitars site http://www.deanguitars.com/ for the newest incarnations of the Michael Angelo Batio guitars. Dean now features the single guitar with the Jet Double graphics (as pictured with Mike and myself below). I can't wait to see what you do with the Warhawk graphics!! I have 2 T&C Vega's I used to use for t-shirts, but I heard the Aztek system works pretty well once you get acclimated to it. Good Luck!
  3. I have seen photos on the web where the bubble is blue/green and clear inside the black rubber part. Maybe you are thinking of the Beatnik Bandit II that had a yellow bubble or the Road Agent that had a yellowish/orange bubble.
  4. Thanks you all for your comments and support.....makes a guy feel....well...###### good!
  5. Harry, I used to be Michael Angelo Batio's Guitar tech for his midwest shows when I lived in Wisconsin. He is a big Dean endorser. I know Dean as well, he is a very creative guy. I have 6 guitars (2 Deans - a Caddy and a MAB signature) Eric, The axes look great!! Big Daddy would be proud! Welcome back to the fold!
  6. Thanks! That's a thought! I want it to have some color, but it's gotta look kinda old and battle scarred as well. There will be bloody hand prints on the doors, some bullet holes, and I need to get some ideas on how to do "Rust" and stuff like that. I gotta develop mops, buckets, shovels, a "Blood/Wet Vac", body bags and windshield armor as well. All ideas are welcome!
  7. It's Hot HOt HOT!
  8. Very Cool!
  9. Every one of your builds is better than the last! Looks like a very clean build.....Great Job!
  10. Ok fellow survivors of the apocalypse....here is a preliminary photo of my build! I will be playing "Clean-up" with this vehicle that will be called "Nightingales Corpse Removal". This is a first shot of paint and I am trying to avoid the "Flat Black/War Camo/Derelict" paint scheme that will be prevelant with a lot of the cars that I will be picking up the bodies after. Although, I would appreciate any suggestions on the paint scheme!! From the looks of the vehicles I've seen, this is gonna be an awesome community build!
  11. (in my best Homer Simpson voice) OOooooooo...Pretty!
  12. Awesome!!!
  13. Cool Build! Not to be a buzz-kill or anything but the shape reminded me of something.... put a handle on the front end and you would have a dust-buster!
  14. Phenominal weathering on that build!! I am originally from Wisconsin, and the only thing that truck needs is a load of road salt in the back.
  15. More On...that's funny!! I gotta remember that!! If I need to take future off, I just dip a qtip in future and wipe till the color is gone. When I "Double dip" in the future, it will not build up in any significant way. Good point about the india ink permanence probability. I always test the mixture on a clear plastic spoon or two before committing the part to the tint itself. I was thinking of trying some Createx tinting black acrylic (I used to use it when airbrushing portraits on t-shirts) and it might do the trick, if I can still find it.
  16. It looks great! You are getting the hang of the Roth cars pretty well!! This is not an easy kit by any stretch of the imagination and you got it spot on! If you like bubble tops, you should do the "Predicta" as well
  17. The kit has slicks that ARE smaller than normal for a 1/24 kit but the fender clearance is not there to use larger ones and still keep the stance the same. The only other option was to use bicycle wheels on the front, which I didn't have. I don't believe it is a Tom Daniel design as his name is nowhere on the box or instructions and a Google search came up with nothing but the kit itself, no real show rod, nuthin! As for the India Ink/Future experiment, I have yet to try it. I don't want to use a Spray on the canopy cause there is no way to fix errors. Future dissolves itself when re-dipped, making it more forgiving to use. I have been using food dye with it, Rit dye turns it to a grainy sludge. So India Ink is my next step. ...and Thanks Raul! I wish more builders would try show rods, I love the way they come out...not normal! LOL! I settled for "Banana Bomb" because "Banana Splits" reminded me too much of the old kiddee tv show! LOL! Man, am I old or what! BTW, I just turned 52 today so Happy Birthday to Me , I guess I am an old Phart!
  18. Thanks! Yeah, never figured out why the Caddy mill only has the 6 but it still looks the part. The setup on the engine had six small "Carbs" and I decided on the Aluminum stacks for looks. Realism went out the window!
  19. I gotta agree with Harry, best to call them! I have had to call PayPal before and it was an easy call, they were very helpful.
  20. Sweet Build! Love the color and the black masking on the windscreen and headlight areas! Details make the build!
  21. I gotta agree with Mark Taylor on this one, never seen a chrome paint look as good as Alclad. I myself prefer to just do out of the box bling (I'm cheap that way! LOL!)
  22. Really Nice build! You should be commended for taking the time to make the birthday boy smile!!
  23. Cool build! I could see that on the street!!
  24. Thanks! It just had a mock up of a turbine engine in it and would look more like a go cart if I left it that way...thus the big engine. As for the yellow, it takes a two layer buildup of white base coat as the plastic is red, then 3 light mist coats to cover the angles and 2 wet coats to complete, and it still has areas that won't cover. As for the name..............I like "Banana Bomb"
  25. Here is the latest canopy top custom from the Monogram kit. I changed the color, lowered the rear, dropped in a Caddy v8 (the Revell parts pak only had an injector setup for a 6, but it still works for me) and tinted the canopy, that I wish came out darker. Next time I will try Future and india ink for the tint. See more pics at my Fotki site under Custom and Concept cars. Thanks for looking!!
