  1. It turned out great! Love the red! Almost half of the kits that I build are collector kits and I have no qualms about building them. Like you mentioned, it takes you back when you open the kit!
  2. From what I recall, the most difficult part was the very front cross member attaching the frame to the axle has just a slight indentation at the attachment point. I used Regular Testors glue on all the parts after test fitting and let the glue set for a few seconds before attaching the frame pieces to each other. Then as said before it was a matter of lining everything up and letting it all dry till hard before attempting any further construction of the kit. The end result is worth the effort. It is one of my favorite builds!
  3. Looks reel purty!
  4. Wayyyyy Cool!!
  5. Really nice job on that one, looks cool! I did mine a while back (see my Fotki pages) ...how didja like putting together that frame, 'eh?! What a project! I love the Roth cars!
  6. Excellent build!! I love that paint job, looks very smooth!! Great job!
  7. All of them are very impressive builds, but I went for #11 'cause anything hinged like that looks soooo coool!
  8. Where else can you see someone turn a Cooper Mini into a rocket powered ski jumping piece of maniacal insanity? Ya gotta love the guys!
  9. I found out the hard way when doing a candy paint job using Testors Candy Enamel spray paint over...YES...Krylon Silver. For some reason, Krylon changed their formula from enamel to laquer or something to that effect. I had done another candy paint job with Krylon Gold as the undercoat and it worked fine. The gold must have been an older can as it was enamel based. Yeah, Best to not mix em at all if you can avoid it.
  10. WOW!! That floors me! So totally cool!! Reminds me of guitarist Joe Satriani's hand painted guitar.
  11. Kyle, If you want to go thru the process you can strip the paint pretty easily and repaint it. The tips and tricks section has some great how to's on stripping paint that doesn't involve sanding and won't hurt the plastic! I have done this a few times and it went pretty smooth. Testors can be expensive, you might want to try some of the cheapy spray paint from Walmart and Krylon that works well too. Duplicolor spray paint can be bought at auto parts stores and can match what you see rolling down the road as well! Remember this, you can apply Laquer over Enamel, but NOT Enamel over Laquer! (enamel will bead up on a laquer surface, I've done it! ) This forum has soooo many helping friends, do not be shy on asking questions! That is what we are all here for! We can't wait to see what you build next!! Welcome to the club!
  12. Pretty cool looking ride! Great job! Did you use brush paint for the silver undercoat and then spray candy blue? Or is it a metallic paint? Candy colors can be a pain to apply, and everything shows thru. If you can spray both coats the look will be smoother in the end. The Merc looks great for a first effort, wish my first models looked that good! Welcome to the club!!
  13. Now that is funny as hell!!
  14. If a kit came in with a bad body, I would just do my best to build it and then take it out back and light an M80 under it! Same effect, LOL!
  15. I always loved Jet cars and this is one that I wish was 1:1 and racing!! Awesome work!!
  16. Looks like a typo, but even with the 2 extra zeros taken away, $30 bucks (shipping inclusive) is steep for a model like that!
  17. They say change is good......bah humbug! This sucks (and not in a good way!) Please bring the old format back!! Merry Stinkin' Christmas
  18. Looks like a great job on a tricky kit. I did this one earlier this year and the flash was such an inconvenience. Your LRW looks cool!
  19. Sounds like a fun buildoff....I'm in.......dunno with what yet. But you can bet it will be a "Death Race-Mad Max" kinda thingee!
  20. Oh MY! I have never seen decals do that at all! Kinda looks like stained glass.....I wish I could help, but my pc resources are very limited. After you get the replacements made, you might want to try a topcoat on the originals just to see if it clears out the cracks and if they might still work. I would love to know what caused that effect on the decals........
  21. This guy needs to be banned for the spam he is giving us!
  22. 80's!?! Man that is exactly what I was shooting for!! (not really, but I loved the 80's!) It seems very difficult these days to come up with a very different paint scheme without airbrushing the beejeebers out of the build, so I very much appreciate all the comments, pro and con! Keeps the brain working!
  23. Most of Roth's cars were on the smallish almost compact side. Both of the BB's were small as was the Road Agent, Stealth 2000, and Rotar. I know he used a Corvair engine for the Road Agent and a Geo Metro for the Stealth 2000. I think he went back to smaller stuff after building the Mysterion and Orbitron, both larger efforts. I haven't seen a pic of him INSIDE any of the smaller cars. It musta been cramped, he was a tall dude!
  24. Thanks y'all!
