  1. Wow! Nice body work, Mike! That's going to be a nice custom. I'm eager to see how you do the top chop on that fastback roof. Sam
  2. Ho, ho, ho! That's really cool! The giant decal is great! Sam
  3. Monty, Could you bend a piece of #2-56 threaded rod (or a cut off bolt), then wrap it in foil? Another idea: Bend a piece of wire to the shape you want, then wrap it with thin (~26 gauge)craft wire. Hit it with a drop of thin CA glue to hold it together, and foil it. Sam
  4. Anyone who can wire engines in 1/64 scale has my respect! Very nice work! Sam
  5. That's cool! Ford should have made that in '55! Nice conversion work!
  6. Nice replica! It's cool to have models of cars you once owned. That 55 was nice. In high school I drove my mom's 62 Mercury Meteor 4 door sedan. Boring! For that grille ring: I wonder if you could make a wood form shaped like the grille, and wrap some soft craft wire around it to make a frame. I have used some 18 gauge (.043") that looks like chrome for some things in the past. Then glue the wire frame to the car. Just a thought. Sam
  7. I voted model. I'm guessing 1/8 scale, based on a Monogram Big T.....maybe!
  8. That's a wild rusty rod! Nice finish, and I like the eyes on the shift knob! Sam
  9. Paulo, that is a beautiful model! The paint and engine detail is perfect! The thin red stripe and cooling fan visible through the grille are nice touches! Very nice classic hot rod! Sam
  10. Excellent work! Amazing details everywhere, and great weathering on the Chevy! Great diorama! Sam
  11. Very nice build, Andy! I love those 61's. Yours looks real with that background. Good color choice, and the wheels set it off just right! Sam
  12. Wow, that's beautiful, Marcos! It looks just the way a 59 Caddy should look. Excellent work! Sam
  13. Nice Beetle, Russell! Very clean and realistic build. Beetles look good in any form! Sam
  14. Nice Deuce, Vaughn! The orange and tan colors look great! Clean build! Sam
  15. Dave, I made the seats from paper and craft wire. I drew the webbing in AutoCAD, printed them out, cut them out and glued them to a wire frame. The ends and sides wrap around the wire frames and are glued on the back side. It was a little tedious, but not real hard to do. Sam
  16. Very nice model! It looks like Chrysler actually made it. The wood strips on the bed cover are a nice touch. Sam
  17. Very nice 36's! I built a couple of those original kits "back in the day". They weren't as nice as yours, though! Good work! It's interesting that the box art shows the custom coupe with a stock, unchopped top, but IIRC, the kit came with only the chopped coupe top, and a stock height roadster windshield and uptop. Do the newer releases have the chopped top? I would like to get one if they do. Sam
  18. I found this beater on ebay for $5.00 and decided to make a rat rod out of it. The idea is that a young car nut finds his late Grandpa's hot rod built in the 1950's rusting away in a barn and decides to get it running again. He cleans up the 32 Ford wheels and the wide whites, and gets the old Model A engine with a Riley OHV head running again. The seats are rotted, so he hacks up a pair of Walmart lawn chairs to make seats. He gets it licensed and puts on a PA vanity plate. Rodent sounded good since the rod looks ratty, and hey, it has the word "rod" in it! Here it sits along a country road where it shut off on the test drive. He imagines his Grandpa standing there looking at it and wonders what he would think! Here's a front view of it along the road. Don't worry, he'll get it running, and have it ready for car shows and cruising this summer! The rust is real rust from a Brillo pad sprinkled over wet red oxide primer randomly sprayed over a flat black body, and tan frame. The whitewalls were done with a Wite-Out pen. Lots of part box stuff was used to finish it. I hope you like it. I had fun building it! Sam MAJOR OOPS! Not sure, but I think the cyl. head is on backwards! I just found photos of a real one and the intake and exhaust are both on the same side (the right). I fixed it. I turned the head around. It should run better now!
  19. Welcome, Rick. There is some amazing craftsmanship and ingenuity in the models seen here. I've learned a lot here in just 6 months since I signed up. Have fun and show us your builds. Sam
  20. Wow! That paint really pops! Very nice build! Sam
  21. Dave, that is lookin' GOOD! I like it! It will be a rod with real character. Nice work! Sam
  22. Excellent work! Amazing detail for 1/64th scale! That's an impressive collection you have. I like the farm machinery haulers, and the hay bales. Sam
  23. Smoooth! Very nice custom. Good color, too. That would be a real head-turner at a local cruise night! Sam
  24. I agree that getting rid of the fenders and bumper really make a difference! It looks like a real hot rod now! Very nice work! The color is the perfect choice for it! Sam
  25. Now that's something really different! I like it! Great work on the winch and tow bar. Sam
