Amazing, John! The real car is insane, and your model is capturing its weirdness perfectly! Excellent work! I admire your skills and patience! Sam

That's what I thought, too! Great realism! Sam

1994 Ford Lightning
Sixties Sam replied to Evilbenny's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks mean in the black color! I like the wheels with the spokes painted. Nice work! Sam -
Lookin' cool! One personal preference nit-pick - if I were doing it I would chop the grille shell so the top of it sits at the same height as the cowl. Sam

Cobra Hauler.
Sixties Sam replied to Steve Prideaux's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Is that what you would call a bundle of snakes? Very nice Cobras and trucks. I like the old Ford pickup, too! Great work on all of them! Sam -
Nice Cruisers! The coupe is really cool! How about a roadster version of the coupe? I always thought the PT should have been rear drive. Sam

Very cool! The flag color scheme makes me want to salute it! Good work! Sam

Great builds of two excellent kits! The paint and foil work are both excellent. Good work! Sam

Gregg, I joined this forum in 2009 and have gathered great education and inspiration from it. You have a tough job, and you're doing it well! I think you'll find that every forum or organization will have a small percentage of drama queens (kings?), braggarts, and jerks in general. I've learned to ignore those people, and not to let them decrease my enjoyment. I would have kicked some of them out long ago. Thanks for all your efforts. Hang in there! Sam

Now there's something you don't see every day! Very creative design, and well done! The skull is a great touch. Good work! Sam

Great model! It must take more work to make a model look that bad instead of good! The realism is first rate. I would want to kick the rear of anyone who would let a real Mustang rot away like that. Such a waste! Sam

Excellent model! Great color and detail! I wouldn't worry about the "flaws." Sam

Nice Vette! It's my favorite. Too bad they didn't keep the split window. It was classy looking, in my opinion. Good work. I'm glad it finally got finished! Sam

Why aren't all model kits awesome?
Sixties Sam replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's interesting that it was mentioned that 50 years ago the main market for model cars was kids and today it's old cranky guys. Well guess what - it's the same bunch of people! It's us Baby Boomers. It's me! Back then we didn't have much money, and didn't care about fine details. We just wanted to build them quick and easy. Now we're retired and many of us don't have a big income, so those nostalgic old kits are once again appealing to us, so we buy them. What's better now is that we do have many new generation kits made from new, improved tooling with great detail, so we have a choice. Eventually we, and those old tool kits will be gone, and all the future kits will be the best that modern technology allows. Also injection molding technology has made great strides in 50 years. The detail we see in new kits simply was not possible in the 1960's. Sam -
Nice!! Very creative version of an old favorite! The hopped up 4 banger is a cool idea. The color is a favorite of mine, and just seems right for a hot rod like this. Great work! Sam

Chevy '55 Nomad AMT 1/24 with diorama shell station
Sixties Sam replied to Tukkerdax's topic in Model Cars
Great job on the Nomad and the station, Eric! They look very realistic! The dent in the Nomad door is a nice touch. Your weathering and rusting techniques are perfect! Sam -
Well, I guess I'm old and in a minority. I use the model glue in a tube for any plastic to plastic joints. That's what it is made for. I use CA for things like metal exhaust tips or loose fitting metal axles on old kits, or on resin parts. CA is my glue of choice for my R/C planes made of balsa wood. It grabs instantly on wood (or fingers!), but doesn't work well for me on styrene. Sam

Very cool! Nice unusual subject to model. Those Crosleys weren't the prettiest cars, were they? Nice build. Sam

Super sweet ride! Great finish! The big wheels aren't my favorite, but they look good on this Olds. Nice work! Sam

Gmc plow truck finished
Sixties Sam replied to Jared Roach's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great! Very realistic. Your weathering is spot on! There are plenty of trucks like that here in central PA! Sam -
Very nice build! The two colors of primer trick worked well - great idea! The Olds lights really make it look different - nice touch! Sam

That's really nice, Al! Great color for the '56, and really well done! I hear what you're saying about engine/chassis detail. My 63 year old eyes don't like straining over tiny plug wires and such. If the engine's under a hood, I don't usually detail it. I've done a few, but it's too much like work! I wire hot rods with exposed engines, but that's about it! Sam
