  1. Tim, Keep up the great work. Like you and Randy bantered about, you both push us all to do better. Such inspirational work. -Art
  2. Seth, I am using a Harbor Freight unit at the moment that I got in a partial trade when I sold a different machine. I don't have much tooling and no skills, so I can't tell you whether it's good or not. But for the few simple things I've done so far, it's been just fine. I might be in line to get this traded out for a Sherline, which may be better for me as far as modeling resources using the unit that can help me learn, and proximity to the factory for tools, etc.. I haven't heard any complaints from anyone using a Sherline. Art
  3. Thanks for the comments, guys! I accidentally drilled through the taillight housings trying to get the lights in there, so I needed to fix that. I also found that the donor kit taillights do not match the actual car, so I just redid the whole set up. I made a master for the taillight and a couple of rings on the lathe today, and it's sitting in a mold over night. Tomorrow I will cast some lenses in clear red resin.
  4. Randy, Randy, Randy... I have nothing clever to say, but am compelled to comment anyway just because I'm so impressed. Can't wait to see it...
  5. Man, the base is turning out great. I knew the idea was killer, and the execution is doing it justice!
  6. Thanks, guys! I appreciate the comments. Made a box to house the circuit board.
  7. Man, you're in the homestretch now! Looks fantastic.
  8. Thanks for the comments, guys. Here's a little more progress: I got the lights all hooked up, so now I can get back to building! After the mockup, I'll disassemble the set up, and re-do it when the paint is on.
  9. Oh, that's all you have? Holy smokes. Incredible, Randy... I just love your work.
  10. Since the battery fills up the entire engine bay, I'm going to place the circuit board under the car in place of the engine. So I ground out the engine so it had a place to rest. It's going to work great.
  11. Good stuff! I'm watching, JC.
  12. Nice job!
  13. Great stuff, Ron! I love the brass work.
  14. Thanks, Brother Joe!
  15. Mike, that is an option, but I'm really trying to avoid that. I'd like it be standalone, if at all possible. I think I have a solution- standby... Thanks for looking!
  16. Travelling with my buddy, John Teresi, to the NNL West last weekend, we got to talking about the lights he is adding to his Iron Lung build http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/110665-eric-goodrichs-iron-lung-on-the-workbench-2816/. He thought it might work well on this build too, so after thinking about it a little, I agreed. It might make for some cool photo ops when all is said and done. So I called up Randy at voodoofx.com and he guided me through what I would need to make it happen. I got the kit yesterday, and I'm excited to add this to the build. The only problem is that the car is actually much smaller than I had in my mind, so even though this is curbside, there's still not a lot of room inside for the battery and circuit board. I realized, that I would need to cut open the hood to use that area as the battery area. I got that done last night. I still need to get creative to get the circuit board in there. Here’s the light kit:
  17. For sure. The day went too fast!
  18. Fun project, Rich!
  19. I loved seeing this Saturday, Seth! It finished up great.
  20. Totally cool, Ray! Nice work so far.
  21. Great update, John! That motor looks the part, for sure.
  22. Can I get in on the badge deal?
