  1. You are doing some good work here Anthony. I like it.
  2. I just opened this kit after receiving it from Hobbylinc.com last night. A couple of big let downs are the chrome plating is really bad compared to the last few round2 kits that I have purchased. Looks like it's got sand in it in many areas and is wrinkled in other areas. Another thing is the shape of the front wheel openings - the trailing edges are cut back so far that part of the chassis shows in the opening. I don't remember this on the original kit. They give us the new mold Polyglas tires (four in the smaller size) but without the pad printed logos! Why? They are producing thousands of the pad printed ones anyway. This is just cheapness in my opinion. The original MPC tires are what I was expecting. Everything else is pretty much as I remember from the original and to be honest is why I got out of modelling during the late 70s. Rant over
  3. Got some foil on her but I'm not sure about the upper part of the windshield frame. Should it be body color, interior color or all a wide piece of stainless trim? I looked at all the pics that i could Google but none of them gave me a definitive answer. Could the corvette gurus chime in?
  4. Not being real familiar with the nuances of Vette details, I did not realize that one needed to cut out the exhaust notches in the rear pan until it was already painted. As you can see, I really botched the driver side opening. guess i should have read the instructions
  5. Thanks for the compliments everyone. I now have the interior painted in model Master Nassau Blue as it is the closest thing I have on hand. Here is a mockup to show the contrast between body and interior. Too bad Revell didn't provide some decals for the dash and console as I'm not good at painting the small details. I plan on painting the carpet with a slightly darker blue and cutting the sun visors free from the windshield frame.
  6. Wow! Outstanding. I have great respect for you guys that can do extensive body work and make it look good.
  7. Can't beat a yellow deuce. Just ask Bob Falfa.

    55 Bel-Air

I am a hardcore Mopar man but I will always love a tri-five Chevy. Very nice!
  9. Nice clean work on the finish.
  10. I remember having problems with IRS rear suspensions on the 2-3 Vette models that I built back in the early 70s. They were either misaligned or kept coming apart. So to prevent such issues from happening I did this: Just pieces of wire cut from a staple and shoved through holes drilled in the chassis then super glued at both ends. After some black paint and with the wheels in place they will barely be noticed. Voila, rock solid suspension. Here is an overall pic of the rear suspension in place sans shocks which have yet to be painted: Now on to the front suspension.
  11. I'll be on that Satellite like a hobo on a ham sandwich.
  12. I love it Jim. I have stated several times that there is just no substitute for sunlight.
  13. More progress today. Got some clear on the body. She still needs another coat. Engine is almost done. Haven't decided if I want to use the Moroso valve covers or the stock ones. Also got most of the chassis painted. I should make more progress tomorrow.
  14. You did that in four hours?! GET OUT!!!
  15. That's some of the best flocking work I have ever seen. Even coverage and not too thick. Everything looks good on this one.
  16. You may be right but I'm leaving themas they are since I forgot to paint the gas tank any way. I didn't try to get the chassis factory correct on this one anyway as i'm doing it as a "day two" car. The owner had it fully undercoated. that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
  17. Back on this one. Did a mockup of the major subassemblies and did a little trimming to get everything to go together. I trimmed the spring shackles to get the rear valence to fit flush: I cut off the front frame rail ends to get them under the front valence without flexing the chassis too much: Here's what she looks like : Happy with it so far.
  18. I have been watching your progress without commenting because i wanted to wait until you were finished. I am a Mopar fanatic who judges Mopar models with a very critical eye and your model is darn near perfect. Bravo sir!
  19. Wow! Like others said, it looks real.

    1940 Ford

    And it's...wait for it...........SHINY!
  21. Beautiful!
  22. Now that is nice.
  23. Here is what she looks like with the rear lowered about 1/8 inch: All I did was razor saw the plate from the rear of the differential ( the one with the pin on it) and move it closer to the other plate. Sorry, I forgot to take a before pic. This pin fits into a hole in the frame crossmember. Piece of cake. The only other mod will be to shorten the shocks. Now if you want to lower the front, well... that's a whole nuther ball of worms.
  24. Now that is a classic!
