tyking, First off, forum rules require you to post your name. Nobody gets away here with a mask on! Best way to do this is click on "My Controls" and then "Edit Signature". Put your first and last name in the Signature box along with what ever else you want (fav saying, personal web page or whatever) and click "Update my signature". Second, I do not know how old you are or how much experience you have in modeling but from your questions you sound like your just getting started. Best bet is to simply build the models you have as cleanly as you can and spend some time reading old posts on this forum. There are TONS of information here if you'll just take the time to check out some of the old threads. Welcome to MCM Forums!

You did a nice job considering what you had to work with! Great paint. What engine did you use?

question about a ford truck?
Jairus replied to fastbackfiero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ford has changed their trucks every few years since 1932. You really didn't give us any idea of what year your RC truck is? -
It was intended as an April Fools joke.... sorry dude....

I don't know about the judging and awards... but Maybe you just missed Darryl taking table pictures? At any rate, I believe that this deserves a place in the show coverage so.... you should send a nice couple of high res pictures and a short write up to Gregg for the Contest Annual. Or... wait for G. and I to shoot it at one of the shows we are going to...?

Show coverage in your mag???
Jairus replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
KT, Photos digital on a disc right out of the camera along with a seperate file in Word with a short write up about the show. Captions are not necessary but identifying the builder along with even a small amount of info about each picture would be nice. Send it to Gregg's address in in the magazine: Model Cars 3419A Hinahina Street Honolulu, HI 96816 -
The current owners of AMT may have announced that they are ready to get out of the model car kit business.... but that does not mean that AMT is folding up shop. The current projects in the pipeline are still being completed and that may include any new kits. A lot of older re-releases that were slated for production are still going to market and the company is still ticking along. We will continue to see stocked shelves of AMT kits because of this and because there are warehouses of stock waiting for shipping.... What we won't see is any NEW products until new owners take over.... who ever they are. Another thing we will see is an increase in 2nd party productions like Model King and Steven's International since the production limits previously imposed have now been lifted. I wouldn't start hording away AMT kits just yet... AMT has been sold many times in the past and new owners will come along sometime soon!

I see your first mistake! You showed us bare plastic parts when you cut out the seat. Up till that point I almost could believe that I was seeing a real car being assembled! Nice job on those corrections, it is looking great! Now, you gotta do something about that front wheel camber.....

Yup! Chuck Larson entered a cut down a pink van at GSL in 1988! The body lifted off to view the Scratchbuilt V16 engine, tube chassis and working suspension. It was called "Lil Pink Truck" I believe. I was there that year and was completely blown away by the quality. It also had working doors with latches!!!! I recall that he entered that beast in just about every contest he could, sometimes mailing it. Took a lot of awards... and more than a few "Best of Show's". Rumors of "a forced retirement" of successful models began to circulate about that time reguarding "Lil Pink Truck" and Dave McGowans '37 Woody (equally campaigned) the following year. As an aside, I talked to Chuck at GSL this year about joining the forum. He could be here lurking.......

Anthony, PM me anytime you want something deleted! I will be happy to accommodate you.

Mike, Maybe I have a big scanner? Actually, that was scanned four times and pasted together in Photoshop. Not an easy process because most scanners don't pull the image perfectly each time.... but that is how I did it.

427 Ford SOHC engine source
Jairus replied to Paul Payne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tracy, Welcome to MCM Forums and I agree with you. Think you nailed the list... except that the Polar Lights Cammer looks pretty bad and... there is a Cammer in the old IMC 1948 Ford kit and the AMT Willys in my opinion is the very best example! -
Marcos, make sure you are logged in before you post..... By the way, you have a neat thread here!

I think you probably COULD use metalizer paints if you first waxed portions of the body prior to adding the final coat of paint. Then the use of a piece of masking tape is used to pull and flake off the paint in the areas that received the wax. This is just another effect you understand.....one of weathering rather than sanding. Could even add two coats of paint and wax inbetween them for a REALLY different look....

Are you going to explain... ?
