Had to scratch build an interior for the body shell. Plastic sheet and evergreen strip provides the tuck and roll.

While waiting out the painting on other projects I'm pulling out some old projects and picking them back up. I've always like the look of the 27 T. Not many kits of the 27, but I found a resin body years ago and started collecting some aftermarket parts and raiding some kits in the stash to do a hot rod in the traditional fifties style. Will have a flathead Ford engine, some vintage speed equipment, hair pin nerf bars, classic white wall big and littles with baby moons on steelie wheels . Started with a Z treatment on a model A frame , with banjo rear differential. Grafted on a rear cross member and rear leaf spring from a AMT 29 roadster.

Thanks Carl....that is a PE item from Detail Master no. DM-3126 Spyder Steering Wheel. Was sitting in the parts stash waiting for the right project.

Dealing with painting now. Anyone out there use the Don Yost technique....Testors enamel thinned with lacquer thinner ? I have a paasche double action airbrush with an AS186 compressor with pressure regulator...set at 32 psi. Testors black gloss enamel in the classic little bottle, cut with Jasco Green Lacquer thinner from Lowes for good smooth flow. First try was less than expected...after many light mist coats - building up to get the final gloss coat... the orange peel was to say the least, disappointing. After curing three days....knocked most of it down with the LMG kit...4000 thru 12000, but the paint came off the high points on the body shell, and the high gloss is gone, Respraying another coat .......not sure if the orange peel can be avoided. I actually have the paint thinned 50 / 50 vs the recommended 2 part paint to 1 part thinner to try and keep it fluid and level out.

Thanks Mike.

Worked on the interior. Spider steering wheel and a black widow gear shift knob, in keeping with the theme.

Norms resin piece....Replicas and Miniatures.

Thanks...glad I haven't glued anything as yet.

Really like your big deuce and the look. I'm about to start a flathead engine build for this, once I see how much width is needed for header clearance under the full hood, I'll look into this. On the A pillars, I used the Revell kit...wish I had taken pictures when I chopped the top, think I may have bent the pillars slightly to match.

Got some advice on another forum for the front axle leaf spring. Scratch built a new leaf spring and remounted it below the frame.
-
Worked on the front suspension to get the extra drop in the front end. Will mount the front leaf spring behind the dropped axle to get the extra drop. Also channeled the rear floor board to get the body shell lowered a bit more over the frame and rear axle. I think have the stance I want. Need to move on to an engine build.

I might be able to help you with that....I know Norm, he's putting a big order together for me now. Ardun heads on my 33 Ford Salt Flat project....and jbwelda's project using the R&M SCOTT blower

Excellent subject ....go for it!' I recommend getting the Replicas and Miniatures Ardun heads and SCOTT blower...very good resin pieces. Ardun Head Kit, Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland DD-16 (2016) (scalemates.com) S.C.O.T. Blower for Ford Flathead, Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland FH-90 (2016) (scalemates.com)

Working the difficult part...the wheel attachments to front and rear axles, and placement of front and rear suspension to get the desired stance. Going aftermarket and parts box on front and rear axles, Replicas and Miniatures with a Halibrand rear axle and a Revell 29 Ford P/U rear axle.

Love this. Color and finish is fantastic.

Very nice!

Nice build...one of my favorite subjects....

More work on engine...I think the tank thing next to the battery is an air tank, or a vacuumn reservoir tank for brakes and wipers.
