  1. I went around to the hobby shops Saturday and no one around here has it either.
  2. Boy, we've sure came up with a long list of wishes for a subject thats "over-kitted" !! LOL!!
  3. I'd rather see them spend the money on new tires WITH SIDEWALL LETTERING!!!
  4. If you want to stay 1/24, what about the Monogram 57 Chevy hardtop? The chassis is better than the two kits you posted. (that 56 is a real stinker)
  5. Now that is FUNNY!
  6. I can see both sides, look at AMT's anouncement of the up comming Grumpy Jenkins 66 Chevy 2, which no body is talking about. My bet is most of the people who would have been excited about that kit allready built one with aftermarket decals years ago.
  7. That X-frame was part of the Revell 55 ragtop as a seperate glue in part, showing Revell's plan for reissues based on that tooling.
  8. diymirage, I don't know which kit it is you have, but I can't think the stock tailamps from a 64 Mercury would look anything like the ones from a 58 Chevy! They must be a custom option. The ones I need are a oval chrome base with two round pointed lenses, and a chrome devider between the two red lenses. I can't get a bicture to post or I would have, I found many on the net.
  9. The kits you have posted ate both older Monogram 1/24 scale kits, and should interchange fairly easily. The 56 is the newer tool and should be better detailed, but I don't have them to compare. Most of those older Monogram kits are simple with low parts counts. The newer Revell kits are much better but they are 1/25 scale and will be undersized if you try to kitbash with 1/24 scale kits.
  10. Yep! I dug it out to have a look-see, and I think it will be so easy I started cutting. The "B" post must be relocated back a bit, and the "C" post must be removed (the 4 doors are a 6 window car) Rescribe the doors and move the front door handles back while removing the rear ones..... Now, the interior. This is not R&R's best effort, and scratch building a better tub in the two door style looks to be the best idea. Star Models has pictures of this kit under resin / R&R .
  11. Years ago a local toy wholeseler went out of busness, andI bought a bunch of AMT 69 GTX kits for the chassis and engines. They are the best way I know of to update an old Jo Han Mopar, or old MPC and AMT Mopar kits easily. I think I bought every one he had, and I still have some left. But they aren't donor kits only, they build up into a great GTX too.
  12. Aah, all nucular hair dryers and curling irons look pretty much the same if you ask me.
  13. A quick look at "that auction place" and I found 2 of those old kits, One for $29, and one for $75. (Yeah, right!) Hendrix Man. resin has one for $30 with no work. I bought one and I'm very hapy with it. Years before the Del Ray kit came out I kitbashed a Revell 56 Nomad with an AMT 55 sedan, and I only had a little molding work on the rear quarter to do. it also came out very nice. I then put the Nomad roof and tailgate on an AMT 57 hardtop for a great Nomad, so that was a two from three build. I know this is not a popular thing to say with the "Another 57 Chevy" complainers, but there are still MANY tri-five Chevys that never been kitted or need to be re kitted. The old Monogram 56 Hardtops are so out of proportion that they look like cartoons.
  14. I was told later that with the chin tucked down the jaw would survive radiation better making identifying remains easyier.
  15. Great start! And I always liked building with my son too1
  16. Thanks! Now I can start rescribing and cutting!
  17. Yep! and thats why I need those measurements from the new Revell sedan kit.
  18. Dang, I'm needing the same parts and have been looking for Ala-Kart tailights! (It used the 58 Bel Air lights too)
  19. I'm building an OLD Revell 57 Ranchero, and need some measurments from the new kit. What I need is the length of the doors, and the length and height of the front window opening, I need these to correct the old Ranchero kit. Thanks in advance.
  20. Well my search for my camera turned into a major cleaning effort, so I have nothing to report. The kit is still mint unstarted! LOL! The kids are at thier fathers untill Saturday so I'll stil get a good start.
  21. Thats a 210, not a Bel air.
  22. Sometimes society gets it wrong.
  23. Actualy its what our teachers were telling us, back in the 50's!
  24. Weren't we all suppost to be driving flying cars, living on the Moon and have personal jet packs by now?
