  1. I'll be the ugly grey-bearded guy in a black leather motorcycle jacket, say hi!
  2. All 1:1 1949 Merc wagons were woodies.
  3. I've owned 4 Cavaliers, driven hundreds of thousands of miles in them, and am looking for another to replace the one that was just totaled 2 weeks ago. (it had 190,000 miles on it, trouble free). Not exciting but good, solid, dependable transportation.
  4. Because the factory tinted glass in early and mid 50's cars had a green cast to it, and over doing the % hid the lack of interior.
  5. 4 years ago I would spend $45 on a resin kit, buy 2 kits (or more) as donors, a photo etch set, $30 worth of automotive paint and some aftermarket decals just to build a model if the subject interested me. Today I have to think out every dollar I spend. I would be a buyer for PE sets for kits that lack scripts and emblems, but I would want them smaller than whats been out before (no pedals, wiper arms, plate frames, ect.) to keep the cost down. Scripts and emblems only.
  6. Once again we agree, And it's just good busness to go where the sales are.
  7. Jo Han did a 73 Cutlass S 2 door promo, these can be found on ebay and at swap meets. A conversion could be done
  8. Older than that 3/4 ton pickups had a longer wheelbase and bed than 1/2 ton models. Someone here may know the exact years.
  9. I want severial sets, waiting untill I hear more positive feedback.
  10. Still wating for a new mold for the Morris Traveler, hint hint.
  11. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I've seen great looking models built from only the parts in the kit. What I'm trying to say is that over the years I've built 4 doors from 2 doors, sedans from hardtops, convertables from coupes, 65's from 64's, and so on. There is no perfect kit, so I build what I want from I is kitted. Sometimes if you want something bad enough you just got to do it yourself.
  12. It sounds like you are describing the old AMT kit, there may be a new tool you don't know about.
  13. I always enjoy going, and I may be off on that number, i've never counted. I'm sure it doesn't compare to the big NNL's and such.
  14. I'm a modeler, not a kit assembler. I'll make one from another kit work, but it would have been nice.........
  15. Ford outsold Chevy in 1957, the 57 Chevy "legend" started on the used car lots when they became a popular starting point for drag cars, street racers, ect.
  16. So does the boot lid badging.
  17. Here lies the problem, most Corvette race cars, drag, SCCA, ect, were ran with the top up, or more often a hardtop in place.
  18. I'd split the gas with anyone from central Indiana who is going.
  19. I started triming parts up and test fitting things last night, and was able to give it a good looking over. This thing is going to fall together and look right! But the photo etch kit is already ordered!
  20. I built a Meyers Manx dune buggy back in 1970, and floral pattern tops were right in the Meyers parts catalog, so it was just part of the times. As far as a 2 and 10 year old saying that they looked bad? Well, it was a child who had the guts to say the Emperior had no clothes.
  21. If you don't want people calling your car a rat rod don't build something that looks like a rat rod.
  22. I've never been to one of the "BIG" shows so I don't know how to rate it, expect about 200 show models and it fills a gymnasium.
  23. I'm a muscle car guy myself, and a '68 Hemi 'Cuda is big on my wish list, but so is a '57 J2 Old's 88. The 64 GTO was not the first muscle car!
