  1. I decided to add the decals to the kit tires and make another comparison against the Johan tires. After sanding the sharp outer perimeter of the tires, they truly are looing better than the Johans. I need to purchase some Firestone decals to make them complete. I am thinking about using the Johan tires for the front since they are skinnier and look more period correct.....

Brett, the new issue is already out, you should be buying the May issue which is where this one was featured. Yes, these are the MRC Keystones which fit perfecty on those tires after removing a little bit of the inner lip in the tire.

Thank you for the replies fellas, I am very appreciative for that. The flares were just sanded down until I was satisfied with the amount I had taken off. I still think it could have been done a little better because they look a little flat. Should have taken them off completely and added a small piece of plastic and bondo to shape them a little better.....
  4. So Brett, is that the kit stance in the front? I like it! I might however also use the Johan front tires, the ones on the kit are too wide....
  5. No need to apologize my friend, the idea here is to listen and read to acquire knowledge and I thank you for your input.
  6. John, I am just holding the body against the tires, chassis is not there yet...
  7. Great build!
  8. Just wanted to share this in the forum.....
  9. Am I the only one who thinks the Revell supplied rear tires are a bit too big compared to the Johan ones?
  10. Very cool bro!
  11. Very cool and unique!!!
  12. Do make sure to get Harold's engine, it's the perfect one for the kit....

  15. That's exactly the idea Ron, it's what the meetings are really about and also the best way to keep motivated!
  16. Come on guys, don't you like it when you make something unique out of a piece of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH model to hear people say "how did you do that"? That's where I think the fun really is!!!
  17. I would if the money was available!
  18. Very, very cool!!!!
  19. I think I will be using the front tires and rims from the Johan 'Cuda on my build. I did have to trim the inner part of the outer rim to make the rims sit a bit more flush into the tire but it should look good. Best of all is that the tires have the "Drag 500" lettering on the side! Gotta see if I can also use the back tires....
  20. I am loving this, so much to learn from you my friend!!!
  21. Couldn't say it better myself brother!!!!
  22. I've had success using a simple method that looks convincing and easy to do. The seats on this Corvette were painted with Testor's Enamel Flat Red. Once dry, using my airbrush at a distance of about 12 inches from the seats, I lightly airbrushed two coats of gloss clear. This will give the seats a slight vinyl sheen. Go very easy and play around with the distance and the pressure from the airbrush until you are satisfied with the results.
  23. As a matter of fact, my friend Kevin Meaney which is a friend of mine here and in Facebook actually did, in a post at the SA forum, mention my 'Cuda on the cover of "the other magazine" (Model Cars Magazine) and guess what? The post was deleted. That pretty much says it all.
